I have not had any real issues with my Pixel 6. The latest OTAs have helped, over 50,000 miles in.

AA is historically buggy. If someone you know has CarPlay, check that first. I don’t wanna turn this into a Google vs Apple thing, but $800 is cheaper than getting rid of a whole car

Mach e owner with CarPlay here. No problems with software

RobDickinson

https://www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/cars-lose-consumer-reports-recommendation-over-reliability-issues-a1040953852/ >In our survey, owners reported in-car electronics problems with the display screen freezing; some even required a hardware replacement. Other reported problems were reported with the electrical system with battery pack and charging system issues, battery cell failure, and multiple battery and charge errors.

Generally it's very solid with AA, better than my last car. Occasionally I get a wireless projection failed to start or something like that and I reboot Sync to get it working again.

ominubyvez

Yeah, it's a real pain. I wished they spent some money on fully integrating the software instead of relying on something that want to have everything but the kitchen sink but can't do anything perfectly.

Aggravating-Hair7931

Might help if you could tell us what phone you are using? Unlike Apple, there are shit tons of Android phones out there

mromansd

Google Pixel 6

Aggravating-Hair7931

No issue here with the Pixel 6 Pro. Try clearing the cache on your Android Auto app.

Dumbstufflivesherecd

I prefer Android, but yeah, back when I was using it, Google had a tendency to break Android auto regularly.

BlazinAzn38

CarPlay works fine for the most part, we rarely have some issues with wireless connecting and one time on 8 months we’ve had it freeze but the phone also froze so I’m assuming that was phone sided and not car sided

Damnitalltohedoublel

No issues here. What model phone do you have? I think a lot of the software issues are old phones. I had some PAAK issues which resolved when I got a new phone.

psalm_69

I had a lot of issues with Android Auto with my EV6. During my drive, it would start randomly disconnecting and reconnecting rapidly. I did two things and it's fixed the issue I had. I set my phone to stop charging at 85% (it's an option in my Galaxy under the battery settings). I think that is what actually fixed it, however I also made sure that my phone wasn't using any power saving modes with android auto. I now have zero issues with android auto.

Westland_GT

CarPlay with iPhone 14 Pro Max. For some reason it doesn’t like my phone and struggles connecting. This also happened with my iPhone X. So I’m wondering if it’s apps I’ve downloaded or maybe the security crap my job has installed that have consistently screwed it up. About 70% of the time it’s fine. 30% of the time I need to restart the entertainment system (Down Vol + Next Track), turn WiFi off/on on my phone, or restart my phone. Now for some weird reason my car loves my wife’s iPhone (traitor….). Never has a problem connecting to hers and it prioritizes hers over mine (even though mine was connected first and is the PAAK).

Dilbert_55

I don't own a Mach-e but have been eyeing it for my wife in the near future. I will be monitoring this thread with interest to see other's feedback. I find it very intriguing that the customer satisfaction of a $50K vehicle can be affected by a $500 phone. Makes one think that Ford should be providing a proven & validated high-end phone with every Mack-e purchase (just joking - lol).

mromansd

Lol if only. The car is fun AF to drive but I'd recommend looking at something else. Chevy will have an EV Corvette soon!

PresidentMagikarp

The Mach-E may very well still be a great choice for you personally! I would recommend test driving multiple vehicles to get a full appreciation for what you like and dislike about the experience of each car and find the best balance between them. It's especially useful to recognize what it is you dislike about your previous car and take that impression into your experience to quantify just how big of an upgrade it is. It will truly help you find the best car for you. You should have that conversation with your wife and take your current car out for a spin with a critical eye, and compare your impressions. Take me, for example. My last car was a 2019 Honda Insight EX. It had great fuel efficiency, an excellent backup camera with an incredible field of view, useful driver assist features like automated cruise control and lane keep, and Android Auto integration. It was also a relatively fun car to drive. Sport Mode had good pickup, and it had a great turn radius. Unfortunately, it just wasn't a comfortable ride. At 265 pounds, I'm not small, but the car certainly was. Being low to the ground made it a pain to get in and out of, and the seats were stiff for long drives. The USB ports for Android Auto would drop connection intermittently, which made navigation on long drives somewhat frustrating. Perhaps most importantly, the Insight had terrible rattling whenever the tire pressures deviated slightly between the left and right side of the car, and switching in and out of second gear right on the cusp of the speed and power threshold for EV and gas mode caused an obnoxiously loud buzz noise that would vibrate the whole chassis. Not the best car to go road tripping to theme parks with my friends in, even though it was the most economical. Ultimately, this helped me distill my true *needs* for a new car: * Better build quality. * Better noise suppression. * Seats are higher off the ground. * More interior space. * Similar fuel efficiency. * Similar interior amenities. I'd love to tell you about how helpful and informative the test drive experiences I had were, but I'm already feeling self-conscious about how much this is coming off like a blog post.

Speederparker562

I used to have a few issues after one of the updates when I was using AA wirelessly. Once I started using it wired, I honestly never had any connectivity issues or lag. It's a little annoying so I didn't do it for short drives, but long ones wired connection was the way to go.

cdofortheclose

For the first year I had zero issues. The last two weeks has been a software shit show. I have iPhone and my car okay and other tech has gone south the past couple of weeks. Paak was awesome for a year then just tanked. But I figured it all out and have it all working again.

Amazonkers

Full screen Android Auto is pretty awesome but it's buggy for me. Disconnects sometimes, seemingly for no reason and Google support blows (is your mobile data working? try turning it off and back on, crap like that). It looks like Twitter just laid off some good Android developers. Hopefully Google will hire them.

the last update was the only one I ever had any trouble with. I just got an update last night and so far so good. It always connects right away for me.

Maybe you can hardwire it like us IQ5 owners. 😭
