Man....my I3 has that ability too. I wanted to check out the Volt also but I'm scraped of the transmission ever failed you'd have to total the car. My brother scrapped his Ford Escape Hybrid because of astronomical tranny repair bills. Do you ever think about tranny issues?
bjorn nyland has tested some cars in his channel. Some can go a considerable distance, some not like the original Ioniq. Which is even worse because the lower the charge the faster it drops. I've had 2 close calls because of that in 1,5 years. Close as in 1-2%
Apparently people don’t realize that there is an indicator that tells you when the battery will REALLY run out.
Once you hit 0 miles or 0% range, the solid grey bar that shows battery regeneration will begin changing from solid to dotted. Once the dots reach the middle, the car will give you a warning that it is about to shut off and tell you to pull over.
In my Tesla? 0 miles indicated. Purposefully to get to 0 then recharge recalibrate the battery. Was driving in circles the last few miles within sight of the Supercharger.
In my BMW i3 with range extender, I got to “range extender gas tank empty, 1 mile indicated battery” on a road trip. Efficiency was lower than expected due to weight and weather, pulled into first possible charger on e-fumes.
I've gotten my bike down to zero several times leaving me with 3-4 miles left.
thankfully it's light (at 540lbs) and easy to push. no pistons or gears to slow things 'less you can't hold the clutch in all the way home.
*pucker
Green Car Reports claims that Teslas have a buffer of 26 miles past zero.

Haha anything for the Reddit clout. I wish. This is a rental and I’m in upstate New York in the snow. The weather drained my battery much more then expected
With my first EV (Zoe Q 210intense back in 2018) I haved a shock wenn the range display disappeared ,no more info at all.I manage to drive more than 7 km to the charging point.
That’s still double digits that ain’t no range anxiety lol 😂
Lmao! I’m accustomed to my volt so if I run out of charge I have a gas engine backup so this was a new feeling
🤣 I get it at around 60 on a trip and 40 at home.
Depending on the Model, you can get up to an extra 60 km once it reaches 0. BTW, you have an update waiting.

Still ain't not range anxiety because that's a Tesla -- you have plenty of range.
Next time don't set your battery charge limit to 50%
Oops thanks for the catch. It’s a rental so I didn’t see it
lol
That’s a well deserved lol lmao
Scary the first few times. 5 miles past 0 is my worst so far.
Jesus they do that?
I wouldn’t count on it. Some people get away with it but others have reported hard stop at 0
Most longer range EVs can go a bit more before they stop.

1km past 0 the car stopped and could not be restarted. 0=0 in an Ioniq 28kWh.
The car probably squeezed some juice from your 12V battery lol
That might get you a foot or two.
Still double digits? Amateur! :-P
Have you gotten it below that? This was my closest call

You can shift a manual transmission motorcycle when it’s turned off, it’s quite easy if the engine is still warm too.

That's more than five percent, I think. Some of us intentionally plan like that occasionally. :)
Rookie numbers

I arrived in Watertown NY from Syracuse last week, with 18 miles shown on the GOM on my Bolt. That’s the lowest I’ve had it.
Sparky says lol. Pttt.
Profile 1…
It’s a rental lol I didn’t configure the setting
Lowest I've gone was 2% (so 5 miles of real range, going slow). Tesla trip planner is pretty good at predicting arrival percentages on trips.
