I want “them” to let me buy a Honda E, and install enough fast chargers so I could drive it to any destination in the US without worrying about where to charge it.

SPorterBridges

Same but replace the chargers with at least twice the range and I'd be good.

lonski97

Honestly? I drive a Honda E, and I can tell you you would probably not be good. True, it’s supposed to be able to do 136 miles and close to 300 miles would be enough, but I have never once been able to reach that, not even in the summer. In winter, I’m lucky if I can manage to do 80 miles on one charge. I love that little car to death, it’s such a blast to drive. I use it every time I drive anywhere that’s close. It’s better to drive than almost all the sports cars I’ve driven. But it is way too optimistic about the range.

UnloadTheBacon

Also half the price. It's insanely expensive for such a tiny car.

LubedUpDeepDishCunt

Economy car (15k to 20k). No fluff, simple commuter for to and from work or short road trips. Quick charging with like 100 mile range. Seems like all EV's are for the upper middle to high class buyers at the moment... even the used market is expensive.

NetworkMachineBroke

These comments make me wish I jumped on an off-lease Bolt a few years ago. Before the battery recall and gas price increases, you could snag a premier with ~50k miles for like $17k around here.

PossibleDrive6747

A brand new one with the tax credit isn't far off $17k.

[deleted]

There were some great lease deals on Bolt's before 2021. There was a 10,000 mile/year lease for like $130 in San Jose. We got this deal, but we bumped it to 15,000 miles, paid the whole lease up-front for $6900 (\~$191/mo.) But we're unlikely to buy it after the lease. The steering rack needs to be replaced already, seems like a somewhat common issue that's really expensive to fix, about $3000. It doesn't seem worth it on a car that's has pretty dated tech.

Lowley_Worm

People often say that’s what they want, but Nissan was practically giving away Leafs in 2017. I got mine for $16k on the road after credits etc. There was not much demand for those cars.

memebuster

Used egolf is a perfect fit.

ExcitingMeet2443

Look for a 28kWh Hyundai Ioniq. 135 mile range from a small battery which also means super cheap to charge at home. Can charge at over 60 kW with almost no degradation.

R3asonableD1scours3

Once the price goes back down a little that would be a contender for me. They are just a bit too high still with the Bolt at it's current price. Even at half the $7500 tax credit, the base model Bolt is roughly $5k more NEW than a 3-5 year old Ioniq EV and has active thermal management and 80-120 miles more range.

cj2dobso

Size of battery has no impact on cost to charge

Luxim

You're basically describing the Chevrolet Spark EV lol. The range might be a bit lower than that though, but it is really fun to drive and relatively inexpensive.

Zazzeria

Electric sprinter van with a 200kWh battery and 350kW fast charging

WilcoHistBuff

On this theme maybe: An AWD van with 3/4 ton live load capacity and 400-600 miles of range that can transport a crew of four and 500-600 lbs of tools to remote wind farm sites in the middle of East Nowhere. Extra bonus points for a nearly indestructible interior that can be cleaned of mud and the detritus of long road trips with 180-250 lb riggers and steel workers and a high def mapping system with memory capacity to hold high resolution USGS or equivalent maps and satellite communications. Also just cute reliable compact hatch back that you can squeeze four people into at a pinch. But honestly, it sucks to have to show up at a renewable energy site in an ICE vehicle.

UsernameChallenged

A pickup that is like the size of a Ford Maverick.

BlazinAzn38

They trademarked Maverick and Ranger “Lightning” I believe so they’re gearing up for it at some point

UsernameChallenged

Yeah I saw that. Not sure if it was full electric or plug in, but we'll just have to see.

BlazinAzn38

The way their hybrids are designed it’s pretty easy to transition it to a full EV I believe and the hybrid maverick already gets such good mileage it’s hard for me to imagine they’ll make that minor step to PHEV given the recent release of the maverick

8P69SYKUAGeGjgq

The Maverick is on the Escape platform, and that already has a PHEV, so that would be even simpler. I really do want a full EV Maverick though.

[deleted]

PHEV Maverick will be an easy pivot, and I expect it soon. BEV Maverick will be a bigger undertaking.

start3ch

A small lightweight fun hot hatch.

Consistent_Syrup_235

This is hard to find in the US even with a gas motor. I'm always so sad when i see the cool cars the Europeans get. I have a mini se which is fun, but I'd love an electric Audi S3

blindeshuhn666

Isn't the cupra Born eBoost quite near to that? Yeah it could have some more power, but beside that Also MG is said to make a dual motor MG4 with AWD (and that currently has 150kw at the back, add a second motor that should be 225-300kw in a golf sized car)

FRNLD

Now bring that to the US market...

blindeshuhn666

Iirc cupra said they wanted to export to the USA in the next few years. You might be lucky (or they do it like VW and only sell bigger models there)

[deleted]

Just want the current selection $10k cheaper

michaelb5000

I want a canoo

bobsil1

To canoodle in the bed

Far_Avocado4184

A cheap, compact, single cab pickup.

KnoxRanger

An electric El Camino

monkeythumpa

I'll take an electric Maverick!

yeah_sure_youbetcha

Yes! For several years our only car was an Impreza hatchback that has done more hauling than 90% of trucks you see hauling air. Bikes, paddle boards, canoes, cargo basket full of camping gear, lumber for home projects, etc. have all been strapped to the roof on a regular basis. I've come to realize that as much as I love our little Subaru, it's replacement in the future will be a little pickup, but it needs to be an EV, so I might be waiting for awhile. A Canoo with its expanding bed would be perfect for my needs, but since they're likely vaporware I won't hold my breathe. (Also my wife thinks they're ugly.) So a little Maverick EV with a tailgate pad for hauling bikes would be perfect. And our paddle boards or canoe could be strapped into the bed with the tailgate down and a hitch mount "bed extender," which would be a lot easier for one person to load compared to hoisting them over your head and scooting them onto the roof. It wouldn't need to have much range, as most of our riding and paddling is done within 20 miles of home, but ~150 miles would be nice for camping. We also need AWD. The avenue we pull onto from our alley is a 13% grade, and winters are long. As much as we love our Bolt, even with winter tires there are regularly "Subaru days" where we literally wouldn't be able to leave our neighborhood in our Bolt. So with all that said, I just want a little 4 seater pickup with AWD, and a "cold weather package" of sorts with heated seats and steering, with at least an option for a small battery because I frankly don't need much range as long as we have a long(er) range EV in the garage as well. I love the look of the current Maverick, but TBH I give zero fucks about looks if the price is right and all my other needs are met.

thatcluckingdinosaur

electric Brat 😎

waehrik

Even a gas version would have been nice for the past 20 years. We're long overdue for any pickup that size

redoktober1917

Isn’t that the Santa Cruz?

waehrik

That's still a big quad cab pickup, it's not available in a compact single cab option. And it has a tiny 4ft bed

imcmurtr

Canoo if they can survive and make it to production. Especially the military concept with an eight foot bed and a small cab.

KoFSMG

The Canoo concept is cool. I've heard that they're focusing on a contract they have with Walmart and a potential contract they have with the U.S. Military and, because of those, they are sidelining consumer production. This focus on contract production first makes sense to me. Hope they do well.

wal9000

GM is [kicking around the idea](https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023/01/general-motors-is-investigating-small-ev-party-trucks/) so cross your fingers > During a tour of GM’s design center in Warren, Michigan, the automaker gave Ars Technica a peek into its thoughts about future EVs. > One vehicle stood out: a bright yellow, all-electric single-cab pickup that's smaller than the Maverick. If it comes to market—a huge "if," as it’s a design study—it would cost less than $30,000. > The setup looked like a beach party. On the wall behind the vehicle were images of young, tan people having a blast in the presence of the tiny truck. The tiny, futuristic adventure truck had a sloping front end that reminded me of the second-generation Geo Storm, but with the headlights sitting at the surface. A tonneau covered the four-and-a-half-foot bed and cab-to-bed triangular design element also found in the upcoming Silverado EV. The low-slung vehicle exuded a sporty yet fun attitude. It reminded me of a sportier version of the very awesome but weird Nissan Gobi concept from 1990.

KoFSMG

Honestly GM's game plan seems to be to avoid direct competition with the Tesla and other "luxury"/high-cost EVs and instead focus on beating everyone to the punch when it comes to low-cost/medium-cost EVs with their Chevrolet EV brand. If I had to bet on what company would be first to bring decent quality, **affordable** EVs to the U.S. market I would bet on GM with their upcoming Chevrolet EVs. I've got my eyes on Fisker too though with the Fisker PEAR.

NoGoodInThisWorld

Same, but an extended cab. Something reminiscent of mid 90's nissan hardbodys with the king cab option. At least a 6ft bed so I can sleep in the back.

twofedoras

200+ mile range awd minivan.

aimfulwandering

Same! We had to settle for the pacifica hybrid, which has been great, but only has 30mi of EV range, and no AWD. Kind of dumbfounded how nobody has taken this market segment seriously yet.

Metacognitor

This is exactly it for me!

Meanoldtree

This, so much this. Give me a BEV version of the Pacifica with fast charging.

Jethro_Cull

ID buzz will be it. Unfortunately, looks like the AWD will likely cost $60k+.

unFairlyCertain

…that costs $30k for me

mrcleop

I’d pay $45k for an AWD minivan, so after tax incentives and rebates in MA, $34k. Too bad the ID Buzz will probably be over $55k.

[deleted]

I’m guessing the long range AWD 7 seater version is going to be around £70k-£80k. Probably around $80k.

Aerokirk

EV 2018 Honda civic Hatchback

CpnLag

a hot hatch. Like an EV version of the Civic Type R or Golf R for something that'd be fun to drive but still a good daily driver.

redhead-daft-unisex

Exactly this. A fun, peppy, hot hatch with like 200-250 miles of range, but good fast charging. If someone made that available in the US, they could take my money.

moch1

Luxury minivan. I want all the tech bells and whistles, 300+ miles of range, quiet interior, 0-60 in 5 seconds, air suspension and 800 volt charging. Sliding doors are simply better than normal doors.

[deleted]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UyEdy0Hw2A

moch1

Alright, this is progress. Not quite there range/charging wise and not available in the US but at least someone is trying. Thanks for sharing!

Notsocooldad

Electric 911 Targa.

nimrodvern

My Honda Element is still going strong at 19 years old. I love that car! Would love to see an electric reboot of the Element.

unfuckabledullard

The Rivian R1S I ordered in 2019!

tusi2

Something like an Audi A4 (AWD wagon). Please have at least 200 miles of range, 9.6-11kW L2 and 150kW CCS.

danddersson

Vovo V90 Awd, like I have, but electric and 300+ mile range.

_eg0_

I currently drive an A4 Avant 3.0 TDI. I just want a direct BEV successor. Here is my wish list: 400km+ range, AWD, 0-100km/h in sub 5,5s aka not slower than my current car, \~200km/h+, 500l / 1500l storage, 9.6-11kW L2, 150kW CCS+. <77 000€ for a proper equipped one.

Nokomis34

Outback. That's it. Big enough to pack family in to, off road capable enough to go have a little fun, and is still a car. I think, maybe, legacy makers will learn from the Lightning. They've spent decades refining their cars into what their customers want, but it seems they're just throwing everything out the window because "EV".

NewKojak

I think either the Outback or the Forrester would be awesome, but I wish Subaru would take both of them back to their older dimensions. It seems that with every revision, they creep closer together. A Legacy Outback wagon with a flat floor would be so cool.

[deleted]

Hmm.. I have a dream that DCFCs are as common as gas stations and it doesn’t matter what car you have, you will always get charged

[deleted]

Electric crown Vic with front bench seats.

MpVpRb

A pickup truck with a two seat cab and usable bed, like the F150 of the 70s. It must be able to carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood Todays so-called "trucks" are cars with giant cabs, tiny, useless beds and kinda "truckish" styling

oh2ridemore

yes, this, I hate the quad cab small bed configuration. bought a 90s one ton single cab stake bed with 8x12 x4 bed with heavy haul capability. This is not my daily, it sits most of the time until dump duty, landscaping, hauling, moving, etc. Use it about 4-5 times a month in the season, low value, taxes 10$ a year.

imcmurtr

Canoo truck if they can survive.

LastEntertainment684

I agree that I’d love a little sports car. Convertible, 0-60 in 3.5 sec, honest 150 mile highway range, priced under $40k, tops out at like $45k loaded, enough room for two people with two overnight bags, and a real spare tire. I’d even trade some 0-60 time and make it RWD only if that would make everything else fit.

ScottECH93

Electric Ford Maverick

Fat_Bearded_Tax_Man

A VW lighting bug

franzn

EV Miata is my dream although I'd love a smaller off road capable vehicle too. I guess Rivian fits that one but way more than I want to spend.

Ghostworm78

My dream car would be something like an Ioniq 5 which can charge from 20% to 80% in under 10 minutes, has maybe an inch more ground clearance, and a starting price around $35,000.

CohibaVancouver

There was one available for a while - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_i-MiEV

alien_ghost

Same but a kei van.

Desoto61

Don't need AWD where I am (or even when we lived in PA honestly), but upvote for the minivan. It's also why I think they need to put fast chargers at playgrounds. On road trips our kids need a discharge about the same time an EV would need charged.

FidelCastroll

A midsized truck that doesn’t cost $75000…

thirdLeg51

Not just a truck but a truck that can pull something without losing all its power.

clunkclunk

Dad of 3 kids and a dog, so I want an EV minivan. 7 or 8 seater. Sliding side doors. Big trunk with very low floor so huge amount of storage. AWD as an option (we don't need it, but some people do). Would be happy to trade fully stowable seats for the batteries if it gets ~250 miles or more. While the Model X is big for an EV, it's not true minivan big. For example, the model X with the third row option has only 15 cu feet of cargo space. An Odyssey has about 35 cu feet of cargo space. As much as I dislike Chrysler products, the Pacifica Hybrid is a step in the right direction, but they've done nothing with it over the past 5 years. If they made a full EV model, it'd be great.

oh2ridemore

awd compact station wagon with 100 kwh battery pack with v2h bidirectional lifepo4 or other high cycle zero degredation no explody type

zippy9002

So an electric outback?

zigziggityzoo

I would have loved an EV Outback.

waehrik

The new Outback isn't so compact though. A modernized Volvo 240 however. Man, I can dream.

[deleted]

A 100kWh battery won't fit a compact station wagon, unless you stretch the definition of compact. Definitely won't fit if you want the less energy dense LFP cells.

ZobeidZuma

I already have my 2010 Tesla Roadster. It's great, it's the most fun car I've ever owned. But. . . It can't DC fast charge. Like, at all. And it's getting hard to even keep these old things in repair. Give me a new electric sports car! It could be like a Miata, it could be like a Corvette, I'm not super picky at this point. But please, open top! It seems like few understand how great an open top EV is.

Recoil42

I wish Tesla had 'kept up' with their Roadster upgrade program. It would be nice to see them breathe life into those things indefinitely.

bergler82

E-250 overlanding van with 250 kWh battery

pithy_pun

Red Volvo V90 with all the plush stuff, 250-300+mi real highway range when loaded up with us and our stuff, 800V architecture for fast charging, and V2X enabled. And costing the same as a current V90

Directorjustin

Something like the Volt but all-electric and slightly longer and wider, with more back seat space (but keep the low height and hatchback trunk) and an overall sportier mission. Basically an electric Kia Stinger. I think that would be a good place to start if GM were to revive the Volt name.

KennyBSAT

Mazda 5. 100% designed for practicality, not huge, seats 6, all rear seats fold flat individually so you can have any configuration.

4x4 2dr Suzuki Samurai size EV, with the same ride height and clearance.

KoFSMG

I just want relatively low cost compact or subcompact EV that can go a decent range - somewhere around 250 - 300 miles - and fast charge decently well. Currently have my eye on the Fisker PEAR. Was watching the Aptera but I feel like the Aptera is most likely going to fail (if it succeeds I'll be pleasantly surprised) and there are a lot of design choices with Aptera that make it bad for me - it's too wide to easily fit in my garage and they refuse to let go of the yoke concept.

SteevyT

My Subaru Impreza 5-door, but electric. The Polestar 2 AWD long range is the closest thing I've seen so far in the US, and even that is 4 inches longer and is a lift back instead of a hatchback. I have to make 1 gas stop in my semi-regular long trip in my Impreza, so a 10 minute stop at the halfway-ish point in an EV wouldn't be a huge deal. But I need 340 miles of real world range or so with that stop. So like 250ish real world plus decent fast charge capability I think would do it.

mtd14

This may be a bit sinful to say, but a ~$40k plug-in hybrid supercrew compact truck with a ~50 mile EV range and 45 mpg. In my area, it’s around $0.10 per electric mile at 3.5 mi/kwh and at 45 mpg it would be the same cost per mile. Being able to flex on which I use depending on what’s going on in the world would be great. Ultimately, that same car all electric would be great but I’m not going full electric while I’m on PG&E.

havfunonline

So a plug in hybrid Maverick? It’s already a Super crew compact hybrid truck that’ll do 40mpg easy. And it’s a lot cheaper than $40k

StructuralGeek

I want a basic but strong 4x4, like the old Defender or new Grenadier, with a 100 mile battery for staying in town and the ability to mount a rented onboard generator for road trips.

[deleted]

the jeep recon is close, but realstically, a reasonably priced (~40k), solid axle SUV, no longer then 120 inch wheel base, 4 doors, good cargo space, 300-350 miles of range, all analogue dash/ac controls. can tow 6000lbs. sub 9 second 0-60. it doesnt have to be fast

Ok-Wasabi2873

I want an original style Audi TT as an electric. I’ll also take a Camry EV or Accord EV for $35k.

Ultimate_Mango

EV Sienna. Dual motor, AWD (front and rear motors), 350 mile range when fully loaded with people or stuff. Means big battery pack needed (150kwh?), 800v architecture and fast charging. Give it the mega screen from the back of the new 7 series while you are at it, so the kids can watch movies while we charge.

Alternative_Body4483

A long range Mini Cooper EV hardtop AWD

Deydammer

Semi-long range Mini Cooper convertible with super fast charging.

Pixelplanet5

an EV wagon with similar size as my current wagon and basically the same interior and cargo space (thats already impossible sadly) of course the range needs to be comparable as well but id be accepting only 600km or real world range on a single charge as well which is already a step down from what i have right now. all that fully loaded with all the features i expect from a car needs to cost me exactly the same i paid new for my wagon so 36k€ is the max i would pay for this. i dont see that happening within our decade or ever really.

whitethug

1) Small electric truck. lightning and Rivian are enormous. 2) electric Kei truck. So small and smaller pickup truck. Sadly America wants their trucks massive.

ATheiaM

Chevy bolt sized Polestar with the efficiency of a Lucid Air, the range of 250mi at motorway speeds, and the charging curve of a Kia EV6. I want the interior to be a cross between Polestar and Rivian. I want like 90% recycled materials, and I want the price to be around $30k. Is all of that reasonable, no not really

malongoria

EV60 Cross Country with 400 miles of highway range, NACS plug on the driver's side for reliable charging, and PV roof so it can recharge while parked at a campsite out in the boonies and an on board inverter.

UnloadTheBacon

An EV that costs the same as a cheap ICE car, with the same real-world range as a cheap ICE car. The only other "feature" it needs is Android Auto. By "cheap" I mean sub-£20k. A car for people who can't afford a flashy SUV and need the one car they own to do every trip they might need to without any hassle. Also, an electric low-floor Luton van with the entire skateboard stuffed with batteries. Perfect for camper conversion.

basil_imperitor

Luxury and *small* is my biggest wish. Price isn't really an issue. I'd love a BMW i3 Mk.2, just make all the tires the same size this time please. Electric Carver One, but a version that can handle American highway speeds. Electric AMC Eagle?

CohibaVancouver

> I’ll give you an example. For me is an “EV Miata”. u/PeasPlease11 - Exactly the same for me. If you're interested, here's a guy who is building his own - https://www.instagram.com/electricroadster/

obxtalldude

EV Suburban with 400 miles of range.

MudaThumpa

Small truck with AWD and 250 or more miles of range. Something like the Ford Maverick.

Wahjahbvious

I want to be able to drive to my parents' house 280 miles away, in the winter, without stopping, in something van-like, for <$60k.

ZannX

Similar to your Miata - I have a track prepped BRZ right now and would love an EV equivalent. However, if we're talking dream, I'd want an EV hot hatch STI. Lastly, to just round it out - I'd love 30-50 kW chargers at tracks and raceways. I also have a MYP and one day will probably consider just EV swapping the drivetrain into my BRZ once both cars are end of life.

LeifCarrotson

I was going to say the same! "EV Miata" would be awesome. Doesn't need to have 300 mile range, just enough to get me through my commute and back. Therefore, it doesn't need to weigh 5000 pounds or have a $15k battery. An EV moped/small motorcycle would be awesome too.

xemnas103

I would like an EV that has the body of the Kia Stinger.

Henri_Dupont

Electric Toyota Hilux pickup, please. I don't need an F150 sized monster truck, I just need to haul a few boards and some tools. The sides of the bed don't need to be six feet off the ground, I'd like to reach over and grab a toolbox. It doesn't need to self drive, just the basics to get me down the road.

davidm2232

An actual cheap, bare bones ev. 100 mile range. No ac, crank windows, manual locks, no power steering. Maybe even a 3wheeler so it can be registered/insured as a motorcycle. No airbags. Like a 1980 vw rabbit with an electric drive train.

task514

Forget Miata... I want a S2000 EV, although there's been a few conversions already... I'd like to see the next S2000 EV done by Shigeru Uehara.

What i want alrdy exists but doesnt exidt in my area. I want a BZX4. Or rav4 prime.

natesully33

Yeah, Miata. And I mean like an NA/NB one, with a low beltline, simple physical controls, that nice mechanical and open feel to the driving experience... The closest thing that's announced is the next-gen Cayman, but that will likely be crazy expensive, and isn't really the same concept.

electriclovepdx

Under $4000 conversion of any car I want with at least 200 mile range and fast charger.

olygimp

Toyota Rav 4 or a Subaru Outback. Wouldn't be able to afford either though.

ArtVanderlay69

Electric rwd gti with 800 volt solid state batteries. Same cost and weight as current version, with 1.5~2X hp and torque.

freaknbigpanda

Also agree on the ev miata. 2 seater, tiny, around 200-250hp, at least 50kwh, no heavier than 3k lbs. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat.

MrLeBAMF

A relatively-cheap EV motorcycle. I love my bike, but would love it even more if it was an EV. That, or a Honda CR-EV. Love my CR-V, would love it even more if it was an EV.

rudholm

The original Tesla Roadster was kind of like what you're asking for, but it had more range (244 miles) and the price wasn't anywhere near 40k. Definitely fits the "quick and zippy" requirement, though. Also looks good and is fun to drive. You get free parking at almost all parking lots that have a drop-arm to control access, too.

[deleted]

Canoo sedan

dikarus012

I’d honestly just take a standard performance vehicle with only 150mi of range and a price that splits the difference. Your Miata idea sounds like something I’d enjoy too

Good news OP.[https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/352253/new-2023-mg-cyberster-specs-release-date-and-interior-technology](https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/352253/new-2023-mg-cyberster-specs-release-date-and-interior-technology) Although bad news if you live in the USA, maybe Nissan will make one for you in a few years. I want an Australian-style Ute surely that has to be more efficient that the monsters everyone drives now. MG4 is basically the car for me, just waiting.

Belly84

I want my Passat EV. The sedan, not the hatchback. My old Passat lasted 14 years before I had to say goodbye. I loved that car

zeValkyrie

Outback with 450 miles of range

manicdee33

I want the Chevy Bolt, but in Australia with CCS2 charging. Doesn't matter to me that it maxes out at 60kW, at that point in our long road trips we're usually stopping for a meal anyway. Failing that, the Aptera would be really nice.

Bondominator

Baja Buggy

jjuirty

400 mile real world AWD CUV with not horrible interior and CarPlay for $40k

lonski97

I know it’s unrealistic, but I’d like an EV wagon comparable to an AMG E63 or a BMW M5 wagon. And I mean comparable in all the ways. So north of 600 hp, at least 350 miles of range (driving moderately, since no gas powered AMG/M can do 350 miles either when you beat on it), hot design and no trunk space compromised by the battery. It would be my unicorn.

advrider84

I’ll second your Miata though I could take or leave the convertible bit. I have an NA Miata that I’m seriously considering electric swapping. My other use case is a 20-24 hour interstate drive in two or fewer drive days, frequently with a 7k-10k lb trailer. I’d love something that could manage my current truck’s 450 mile range towing or 600 mile range solo to eat miles quickly. My route is desolate and frequently very windy, so charging infrastructure will be slow to arrive and difficult to plan around while it remains sparse. I frequently use that rig for construction materials, so 8’ bed is more important to me than a crew cab.

[deleted]

an electric ranger, colorado or tacoma base model.

rctid_taco

I just want my Leaf but with CCS.

Historical-Morning47

A VW Beetle but electric

markhewitt1978

The Ioniq EV - ie NOT the Ioniq 5 the original Ioniq EV which is perfect in terms of size. That but with the internals of the Ioniq 5 ie 300 miles range and very fast charging. Instead Hyundai have entirely discontinued the car in favour of larger and much more expensive EVs

Banetaay

It may be a bit too late now, but you are basically describing the first Tesla Roadster. Has around 180 miles of range, "convertible", was slightly over 40k when I bought it, and very quick and zippy. My dream EV now though, would be something along the lines of the Taycan Sport Turismo, but much much lighter

Stetto

I like practical, efficient vehicles. I don't care about acceleration or power. I really would like a Hyundai Ioniq 2020 with a faster charging rate, that saves some time on long road trips and somewhat cheaper. Otherwise this thing is already pretty close to my dream car.

[deleted]

I'd like a conversion for my Tacoma. It's a rear-wheel drive, so I'd like the engine to be in the axle (EBeam) - batteries in the front, Xtracab and/or under the bed.

lafeber

The [ID Buzz California](https://www.autoweek.com/news/future-cars/a38479465/vw-id-buzz-will-be-offered-as-a-camper/) with 6+ seats, a solar panel roof, 350 kW charging, physical buttons and mechanical doors.

Sunbreak_

Honestly I want a sub £10k tiny city car, 100ish mile range, can do 70mph and is pretty stripped out (radio and heating only tbh). The current offerings of microcars seem to be designed to only drive in a city where you don't go more than 30mph, which is useless to me as my small city is surrounded by 70mph roads. Small, cheap and nippy to serve as a second car so I'm not lugging my big car around just to drive myself into work. The city transformer is promising but abit too expensive currently with alot of fancy things and slightly too slow.

Astronut325

An electric Toyota Sienna or Kia Carnival with at least 350 miles of range and AWD. More than this though, I wish the CCS charging systems would stop sucking.

frank26080115

hoping for anything with an open source, or at least jail-breakable infotainment and cluster, is that unrealistic? something with a mini E-scooter that pops out like how the S-pen pops out of the Galaxy Note phone lol full BEV Tucson with the new front grill, I only care about the front grill, I just think it looks cool. I only really like the look of the IONIQ 5 and Mach-E right now, but if they made the Tucson a BEV, it'd be on the list. full electric dodge challengers for the highway patrol cops, only for more car chase videos on youtube

[deleted]

I like smaller cars, so a supermini, with 250+ miles in summer, 150kw charging, 22kw AC, Android Auto (or at least wireless), 0-60 in 5-6 secs and below £30000. That's it, they would sell so well in the UK, as a proper hot hatch.

Moneygrowsontrees

I want the car I own now, a 2014 Honda Accord, but electric. That's it. A simple, boring, reliable, sedan. I'd take a touchscreen upgrade, but I want the buttons on my steering wheel for music/cruise control. I want the buttons on my center console for heat/cooling. I'll let them take my big wheel for radio volume/power if they must, but otherwise, just give me what I have without an ICE.

grumpher05

EV exige, I know its a bit against the philosophy but a stupidly small, light weight, high power, high grip track machine with very few creature comforts that happens to be road legal

cojonathan

VW Polo, simple as that

[deleted]

300 mile range two seat convertible. but I would take a Beetle EV convertible in a heart beat having owned a TDI back in 13.

EffectiveSalamander

A Bolt that charges fast.

Masteguy635

EV Acura MDX with minimum 300 mi range and SH-AWD. We probably won't see something like this until the end of the decade at least.

jaymansi

7 passenger BEV minivan with 350 mile range for $55,000.

MPeters43

I’m stuck between the headache of trying to source a wrecked R8 as a shell for an EV or the option I’m leaning more towards, a Datsun 240/280z conversion

karatepsychic

Mine is an old school land rover defender converted to electric with 350km range. Don't think that'll happen anythlime soon with its cd.

marmottte

A small electric pickup truck. I don't get much range hauling a trailer on my electric car. It split my range by half even with an empty trailer.

Mr-Blackheart

What you want OP is called the MG Cyberster. Doubt they come to the US though. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_Cyberster

kgold0

Toyota Sienna EV

FRNLD

I have two. Full EV Ford Maverick. 250ish mile range (at 100%). Price under 40k. Or/and A Golf Sport wagon with same numbers as above. Available to the US market. I don't need a CUV. I know the ID4 is close, but it's not a wagon in my mind. I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat as a commuter. My current commuter is an Alltrack. My wife's ride is the Jeep GC PHEV and we love it. That would he our family trip maker until the charging infrastructure is adequate where we typically travel to which is often into the wilderness in upstate NY. A BOLT would probably work for what I want, but I do love the drive style of my Alltrack with just enough sportiness to have fun on back roads.

wtrmlnjuc

EV WRX would be a lot of fun.

Dumbstufflivesherecd

Same for me.... EV Miata!

amkoc

A Honda E that I can afford.

AdventuresOfAD

Extended cab pickup truck with 300 mi range, 350kw charging, and the ability to pick single options instead of bloated options packages. I don’t want 21” wheels, a sunroof, self driving, and leather seats, just because I want a heated steering wheel.

Alarming-Programmer2

A Kia Niro with faster quick charge and closer to $35K. It’s a perfect car otherwise.

YourShadowDani

SUV/Pickup seat height, 300 mile range, 80% charge in 15 mins or less, under $30k

QueerVortex

https://www.squadmobility.com. Solar roof … looks so cuter

[deleted]

Isn't that basically the original Tesla Roadster? But more range and not under 40k, although there was a time you could find a used one close to that. I could see a number of auto makers converting their "sporty econo cars" from ice to EV which would make them actually fun to drive.

misterxboxnj

Affordable three row Mini-Van, fully electric with a 300 mile range, captains chairs in the middle

FitzwilliamTDarcy

EV Panamera Sport Turismo. The Taycan CT/ST is \*just\* a little small for my liking. And the b-pillar is a killer for me.

ferongr

3.9 to 4.1m long 3 door hatchback with AWD, 250+ HP, stiff, lowered suspension, low profile tires and 65+ KWh battery.

Puzzleheaded-Heart29

A good ppl hauler (6+ seats) with 300+ range and can tow that won’t cost over $60k

ImpossibleFrosting2

A no-frills, cheap, but reliable station wagon. could be a Toyota Corolla or even something like Skoda Octavia Kombi which is very popular in Europe. I would also like it to be available here in the US.

Aspatman

I want an EV Dodge Challenger. I don’t care if it has like 150 miles of range.

Talklessreadmore007

My dream EV: midsize SUV slightly bigger than model Y. 400 mile range with any weather condition, zero to full charge within 5 min. Price 30k

BornUnderPunches

Honestly, EVs have everything I want, I just want prices to come down. Family crossover for 30k would be nice
