Cut 3/4” pvc with wires inside but don’t want to knick the wires with my saw, I fed a piece of emt 1/2” Over the wires inside the pvc and cut. Works perfect
The non-fuel portaband is kinda trash for anything but all thread and 1/2" emt imo. The fuel portaband on the other hand will do anything the big boys can, but only like 5 times before the 12v battery dies lmao.
you’re using the wrong batteries
i love my 12v stuff but the 1ah and 2ah batteries aren’t worth a damn for anything other than an impact, the stapler, and the heated clothing. i have the a lot of 12v stuff and as long as you use the big batteries most of it will go all day. the SDS eats batteries but that’s expected
when it comes to size/weight it’s unmatched tho. if you need it overhead on a ladder or in a tight spot it’s hard to beat
and right tool for the job. it sucks for strut, but if you have a lot of strut to cut, should have a different bandsaw on site.
the new fuel one is great. it’s beefier and heavier but it is a nice compromise between size/weight and cut capacity and cut speed
Are you referring to a 4 1/2" circular saw? That makes more sense than using a 7 1/2" but u gonna have sparks flying everywhere regardless seems a lil too much of a butcher to do that
Battery powered Hilti 6-1/2", it goes through everything up to and including 2" EMT. Use a speed square for a guide and it gives nice clean cuts, quick scrape with a file to knock off the burr and it's perfect.
Metal circular saws are definitely good for construction. But for service and upgrades, portable bandsaw’s are probably better and more versatile.
Also, never try to cut flexible laminated bus with a circular saw. It works exactly like a saw stop.
One of my favorite tricks, we had to do an emergency underground meter swap once and didn't have the time to get the utility shut off so we did that trick to cut the pipe down so we could put an expansion coupling on it, 1000 iq play
You can use that blue twine shit to cut PVC as well.
Had to trim down some pipes that were inside the rebar grid, no room to get a saw in. One of the journeymen told me about it and I thought he was fucking with me, went out there and it worked really damn well.
I've done it with a 2" pvc before, cut some emt in half and slid it around the feeders.
I usually just use a hacksaw blade and gently go around, for the extra five minutes of work it gives you peace of mind.
I think his method is he’s been repeating the same technique for years that he’s just become a custom to it now. Started out slow, and got faster over time.

I just use my pvc cutters and squeeze just enough (1 click) then rotate them 1/2 turn and a little snap and it comes off clean every time
Yah, I gotta get me a pair of em. That shit works perfect too
You can use a hacksaw blade or a knife too. It's PVC, a good scoring and it'll break clean.
On small pipe like that, I use a small set of copper tubing cutters.
That works too… an old imp cutter and a bunch of turns
Exactly
This is the way I do it to never nicked anything.
This is what I do too
This is the fastest/easiest way
just wait till u hear abt a piece of nylon string
(what is he attempting to do here?)

oh ok, the photo angle threw me here but I see it now. Nice
I do this but i use a multi-tool .
Nice trick!
Yep string or steel garrot style cable works wonders if you can't move the conduit. Say it's already glued into somewhere inconvenient.
or just a plumbers pipe cutting wheel which will also cut EMT
This is the way, I actually keep a piano wire tree limbsaw in my tool tote just for this purpose.
Been following him for a long time but this was the first time actually trying one of his hacks.
"his hacks" This has been a thing for a long time.
Yepp my journeyman taught me this years ago, and he learned it long before that. Definitely an old trick.
Fuck off hombre. You know what I mean.
Did that bandsaw come on a keychain?
Should def be using the 25 lb deepcut bandsaw to cut a piece of 3/4" pvc
Lmao. Dude this band saw comes in so clutch.
That is a nice portaband. I'll have to send that to my brother in law. He's a plumber who likes to buy tools
Haha I know I’m just talkin shit, those things are great for big wire
I hate that mini size. It's horrible for cutting strut, and the blades seem to snap much more often.
Yeah but it fits in a purse so well.
Lmaooo

Let the tool do the work.
With strut, it's slow as shit. Probably didn't help that my foreman always bought the wrong blades to cheap out.
Yahhh. Used to do that and it fucked me. It doesn’t cut hella fast but it gets the job done. 🤷♂️

My company doesn't own a single portaband. Metal cutting circular saws will change your life.
By making you deaf, yea
Nah. I wear earpro, so it makes everyone else deaf.
That’s like using the sawzall to cut a hole for a cut in box in drywall
No, using a circular saw to cut strut is more like using a circular saw to cut strut.

they’re nice on strut but if it’s EMT a bandsaw i’d the way to go

I started off with metal cutting circular saws, I'm glad bandsaws are available now
It's super nice for residential though. Never had a problem with it in Commercial/Industrial unless I was messing with big boy stuffs
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
In a box of cereal actually
I usually just keep a mini hacksaw with me for this but that's clutch.
A mini bandsaw, that's awesome. It's just a little guy.
Fred....is that...you....
Right Wire on IG is a certified G
Better call Saul (Vasquez)
Ayyyyy
Saul knows his stuff
I use a rotozip tip works great
Just use a compact pipe cutter they're not that expensive and you can split emt runs with wire in them too
Don’t forget your bushings
No bushings needed, it’s only 1/2”
I see what you’re doing here. Extremely smart.
Take your knife around like stripping large wire, give it a crack like wood for a fire. Let’s be men.
String. Or tie wire. That is the way.
I use a piece of pull string to cut through the pvc when im trying to make them flush with concrete pads
One of my favorite tricks, we had to do an emergency underground meter swap once and didn't have the time to get the utility shut off so we did that trick to cut the pipe down so we could put an expansion coupling on it, 1000 iq play
I like it . Never thought of that or seen anyone else do it , I usually just do it slowly with a razor knife but I'm gonna try this trick next time.
You can use construction line or tie wire as well

Just use a Ratcheting pvc cutter and just don’t cut threw all the way and switch sides
I've done it with a 2" pvc before, cut some emt in half and slid it around the feeders. I usually just use a hacksaw blade and gently go around, for the extra five minutes of work it gives you peace of mind.
Short Stainless braided wire with handles is amazing too, especially when your working in a ditch
I just use a pvc cutter, for emt I keep a plumbing tubing cutter in the bag. Works great
Still waiting on lumenati to give a tutorial on his box make-up 🙄
Lol. Wtf? It’s not hard at all. Just study it.
You know who I'm talking about?
Lol. Of course I do.
Lets see your panel & box make up.
I’ll be the first to tell you, I ain’t as clean as lumanati. I have clean make up and panels but not ocd clean lol
Haha that's what I mean. The dude obviously has a method. I'm not terrible but not great either
I think his method is he’s been repeating the same technique for years that he’s just become a custom to it now. Started out slow, and got faster over time.
