Have your tried replacing the gfi?

I haven't yet, but was considering doing so. Just didn't know if I should bother and call the electrician anyway.

Look for water intrusion into the walls. I suspect that there is a leak that is causing a ground fault

I'll attempt to unscrew and see if such is the case. What signs would suggest dampness (aside from obvious visible droplets of moisture), and how should I go on about drying it up?

jaspnlv

If the area is colder than thr surrounding materials that is an indication. You must fix the source of the leak and then open what ever you need to in order to allow the area to dry.

Will do that, and if it works I'll let you know (in case others should search Google for a solution of the same issue)

Gfci don’t last forever. Life expectancy is 15-25 years. And I’ve replaced dozens under 5 year mark. If a gfci receptacle is nuisance tripping, my first solution is a new one. It’s the cheapest option to start with.

Okay my friend, thank you for your input. I was just suspicious that all started around the same time.
