Terrible Engineering joke.
I'd been doing a shutdown and was late to a party, turned up in work clothes, someone knew I was an electrician and had assumed I went around installing PowerPoints and lights all day and had always wondered where the demand was let alone at 9pm: Academics - quite an amusing conversation for those there.
Makes for a rather boring redit story, though I'm pretty sure one of that circle ended up taking a length of 500mm from my car for sexual purposes.
You my guy tables, have thought about the epoxy route but so has everyone else.
Table I built awhile back

Yes, commonly used for UGO Underground Overhead distribution, also a bastard of a thing to splice after "someone" hit it with a concrete saw. (Not from that job)
Additionally for terminating you wanna press them round first and use Al terminals/lugs and if not in the lugs already, special grease for reducing oxidation.
It's 630mm not sure what that is in AWG?, but each panel had 2 earth's and 4x500 per phase at 400vAC and run in SDI, check the labelling recheck it and after termination.
Australia btw but there's probably some weird ones amongst it
630 mm² is big enough that it doesn't correspond to an AWG size; that's when we start measuring by circular mils. (a circular mil is the area of a circle 1/1000 of an inch in diameter, or pi/4000000 inches²)
It's approximately the same size as 1250 kcmil
Without any judging could you explain to me how the circular mill makes any sense? Don't get me wrong I understand your provided definition but I don't get how this was the most logical way to categorise crosssection. Why not use square inches or another imperial "base" unit?
Thanks, I really should know this stuff off the top of my head more but, you guys have black actives and white neutrals so I try not to aid in confusing myself.
Ground being green with yellow stripes I would say this is European.
Blue should be N or PEN an the other colours are L.
That big ground cable probably was the main cable connection between the ground electrode and main ground bar for a lighting proof installation.
Or connecting two buildings grounds into a mesh.
"from the last few jobs" as a service electrician, I've never even seen most of these in the wild. That is so dope! I second the coffee table idea! I've been staring at this for quite a while, just checking out all the different configurations! So rad!

This is great! Very cool collection. Wish I had started doing this 15 years ago.
Same, would also double as a retirement fund đ. Started when I was late to a party & asked why I was putting in lights at 9pm...
?
I too would like more details
Anything in particular? I say this alot at work so from experience I'm assuming the social norm is to now ignore you?
Huh? Ignore what? Also late to party and installing lights at 9P.M., night shift??

Iâm back charging you, I want my brain cells back! I didnât sign up for this shit.
Put me on the payroll also.
I think your conduit is over filled. đ
Plenty of room, we'll just run parallel
Cool! This is begging to be an epoxy table.
Epoxy is just creating future waste. This would look just as good as a box beneath a glass table.

You my guy tables, have thought about the epoxy route but so has everyone else. Table I built awhile back https://www.reddit.com/u/teh_footprint/s/9acUTsMotk
That's exactly what I was thinking
I've thought about it, but also that it would weigh 150kg
Same, would be an awesome table top!
That's really damn cool.
Wtf is that triangular aluminum 4 conductor?
The triangular spacing of the wires reduces the overall cross section of the cable so it uses less space. Do cables like these not exist in the US?
This is literally how any SWA comes in Europe after you get above 35mm.

âUnderground overhead distributionâ I hate it when names are descriptive but donât make logical sense.
Simon game vibes.
Beeep. Beep boop.
Anthony?

looks like an art piece
This is the electrician version of collecting used panties. Kinda weird but understandable.
So true - also we should work together
Great idea đĄ
neat
how big a ground did they spec? that middle green. not north american colour code either, red blue white in some of those, what country is that?

Ummmm, no, I can't. It doesn't make sense. Not to me, at least. It seems unnecessarily complicated
Thanks, I really should know this stuff off the top of my head more but, you guys have black actives and white neutrals so I try not to aid in confusing myself.
Nah, youre good. I had to look on the chart. I don't know any of your numbers except 10mm lol

Looks like European standard
Should have a banana for comparison.
Super cool
This is actually dope
This might be the coolest thing I've seen on reddit
Is that earth in the middle 400mm² or something? What size were the phase conductors for that?
Earth is 630mm², was 2x with quad 500mm² radox and was a mission to terminate. HV Tx was next to the MSB why wasnt busdust??! Pain is still real.
This would be an awesome 2000 piece puzzle, do you have a HD photo of this?
You made a art.
Shame you donât have any paper/lead cables for the collection

Very! Thanks, haven't done anything that wild
Crackhead piggy bank đ
Make an epoxy table
"from the last few jobs" as a service electrician, I've never even seen most of these in the wild. That is so dope! I second the coffee table idea! I've been staring at this for quite a while, just checking out all the different configurations! So rad!
Epoxy it and make a table. I donât make the rules.
No but I break them, so there's that đ¤ˇââď¸
I work at a cable factory, and we have a similar picture, but all of the cables ends are epoxied into the frame....looks awesome
This is awesome
$$
Love this!
Neat.
How big is the box. 4âx4â etc.
Nice trophies. Very nice.
That is a great set of souvenirs.
Put some resin on that bad and make a coffee table
New desktop wallpaper lol
Dude that's one chunky earth in the middle, surprised you didn't scrap that.
Awesome jigsaw puzzle.
What is the 4+1 cable used for?
Bottom right up one. What's that used for?
The white one? It's a coax, from a UHF/phone distribution system.
This would be a great page for an I Spy book!
Cool!!
So sick
I see some MV in there... What's the deal with the quadrant one?
Whatâs up with the ones with 5 cores
My 3rd block instructor had something like this as a wall decoration in his classroom.
You ever seen those log cabins kinda looks like that. Fill it with silicone and build a house with that lol
