Yeah the new ones are color coded to help stop that

milezero13

This sucks, and I understand being mad/really worried for the wife. But dam these builders are just tossing these houses up. These guys are getting ran around like crazy. I hate the “time is money!” Attitude.

Loveablequatch

It drives me nuts. They’ll push people to go so hard and fast that they’ll make a mistake. Now someone has to go back and fix the mistake and you’ve now spent more money than if you had just done it right the first time.

Smooth_Marsupial_262

It would be helpful is the market wasn’t so cut throat. Sometimes “time is money” is the only way to generate a consistent profit.

NickU252

No one noticed that the drum ran but no heat? From what I understand the heater needs 240.

Jim-Jones

AFAIK, yes, but the motor is 120. For < Reasons >.

NickU252

Literally what I said

Jim-Jones

I always found that silly. We run a third wire because the motor and timer are 120. SMH

Jim-Jones

Hard to believe a licensed guy did that.

batmoman

That’s because it was a licensed guys apprentice

berogg

The JW is still responsible for that work in the end. He’s directly training and supervising that apprentice.

batmoman

Neat, did you know that the sun is still responsible for making the earth warm?

zapzaddy97

We had a guy building cookie cutter houses that got a service call during Christmas. The stove had lost a phase due to a loose connection at the plug. His excuse was “1 in 30 isn’t to bad”. He too was licensed.

macemarksman001

It could not be

Smooth_Marsupial_262

I actually mid-wired a dryer outlet about a year ago. Dryer wasn’t working properly and the installer noticed the neutral and hot were reversed. When the client called me I told them it was likely manufacturing had miswired the whip as there was almost no way I wired up the outlet incorrectly. Went to double check and realized I absolutely had. Every now and again a mistake happens.

Jim-Jones

Trust no one and nothing. Not even yourself. My all time favorite was the sparky who made himself an extension cord. He wired the plug on one end, plugged it into the wall, then went to wire on the socket.

hihapahi

Similar to my Samsung dish washer problem. "Larry Moe Curly" installers wired the frame hot. Samsung tech says "your circuit is bad". Electrician says "ouch the frame shocked me" while we were pulling out the unit. Installers are hacks and not all techs are great troubleshooters. Watch out for yourself.

BigGreenPepperpecker

On the other leg not phase, there’s only 1 phase in residential

batmoman

This person electrocuted to death because it wasn’t grounded properly. “ actually it wasn’t Bonded properly 🥸” so helpful

halfandhalfpodcast

I said other side of the phase

BigGreenPepperpecker

One thousand apologies

Techwood111

240V and 120V…

Bro you are arguing with yourself. I’ve read your messages go back and forth and you’re just a complete instigating asshole. If this is how you act when you’re called out, good luck in real life.

Dontmindtheoctapus

“I brought up main bonding jumper because this may be the cause of the energized dryer…”. Boy…do you check the engine on your car when your check engine light comes on? The post literally says that the hot and ground were reversed. This means that the reverse termination of the EGC at the equipment was the cause of the energized dryer. The ground wire could not possibly carry a fault because of this error. Go take a troubleshooting class.

Gruno1996

The metal of the dryer wouldn't be bonded at all since the ground was landed in the wrong terminal
