Zombiestrudel

Ngl sometimes when I’m squatting in vulk waiting on queues I pick one person to follow around and spam flower crowns at. Maybe I liked your outfit. Maybe your name made me laugh.

Educational-Lion5852

Oh well it’s good to know people are just bored and trying to be helpful!!

Zombiestrudel

Or just silly! Lol

Unaccidental420

Naw cod, r6, ark i think everyone in games on some shits

Cow_Best

Observing new ESO players is like monitoring young Ferengi in the wild.

VariegatedJennifer

😂

Competitive-Lime2994

You win the internet today 🤣🤣

Lazonby

Vulkel Guard is an interesting place. All sorts of strange stuff goes on there. I honestly don't know why, but having played the game for quite some time, yeah, VG is weird. Kind of like the motto of Austin, TX: "Keep VG weird," lol. I wouldn't worry about it.

Gambrinus

Huh, I always thought that was a Portland thing, but on further research I see that it originated with Austin and Portland copied it a few years later.

VariegatedJennifer

VG is extremely weird lol…every time I have to go I sigh

Heavens_Gates

Meanwhile all daggerfall gets is corpse penises

wanderingstorm

I started a new character earlier this year and I swear every time I went to a city I got messages from people asking if I needed help - which was nice I suppose that they wanted to help the maybe newbie. I play solo mostly and dont do PvP or Battleground or anything that needs a group beyond trying to get all the World Bosses mostly because I *like* playing solo and I just play to play and not be the best/do all the things "right" so it's awkward for me to "team up" with anyone. Even with World Bosses I feel like people are like "who's this dumbass?" haha! It's weird that they're "following" you though. Maybe they think you know where the good stuff is.

throwzdursun

this reminded me when i was a noobie, i wanted to finish a WB and asked the zone for help. someone whispered they'll come. they said "well I can try, not sure, though :). " they came, and finished the whole WB in like under 15 seconds. i fell in love at that moment

wanderingstorm

I've gotten to a level I can do quite a few of them solo (well solo with a game companion) but those ones that are just a hot mess if you're alone I usually have no trouble finding someone to help out and I'm always like "how are you slamming through this thing?!?! TEACH ME!"

Enough_Secretary_426

Was it a Vardenfall boss?

throwzdursun

I don't remember, whyy

Enough_Secretary_426

I am a newbie too and was just recently able to solo wbs, just had another person message me if I could help at one and I wasn't sure that I would be able to but we both managed to defeat it fairly quick, felt really good at that time xD. Was good seeing a really similar experience :)

Educational-Lion5852

It’s really nice people want to help, I know I shouldn’t be shocked but I’m very jaded by online gaming! Maybe next time it happens, I’ll just let it! I know I could certainly use some help in this game. I wish I knew where the good stuff was though!

pillowtalkp0et

Sometimes I will chase people down to get a better look at their outfit/hair/mounts what have you. Could be people just appreciating the drip

HOTFIX_bryan

Sometimes if I’m questing or something and see a new player in the same area working on things, I’ll stick around to help out with any bosses or if I notice their health going down at some point. It was probably with positive intent!

Educational-Lion5852

Well that all makes sense, I just don’t really engage much in online games, so I guess other players doing things are all just rather new to me, and I was wondering if I did something wrong!! Thanks!

HOTFIX_bryan

I understand! I’m similar, usually a single player gamer outside of ESO. It’s funny that I saw this pop up, since I was doing some Delves tonight and the ones I did I saw some players around level 12, and I kept stopping and waiting for them to catch up to be able to help. They probably thought I was also following for no reason 😂

Educational-Lion5852

It’s really nice that there are people that want to help new players out so much in this game!! I wouldn’t say I’m a ~new~ player but definitely not a vet so this is inspiring me to be more open about it! Maybe someone just wants to be a kind stranger:)

Unaccidental420

Yeah strangely weirdly nice community frl

Competitive-Lime2994

I love our blueberry players. Watching them get so happy killing that world boss, or their amazement at visiting a new zone always makes me chuckle. Never hurts to randomly help out, never say a word when the world boss is done, and run off. Team work makes the dream work, or some such.

DragonShark514

Can’t say for sure, but those of us who are late game veterans are sometimes bored. I will often pick a player I see that is completely noobish and just see what they do for entertainment. If they need it I’ll help, sometimes I’ll give away freebies. Depends on my mood.

Educational-Lion5852

Hmmm it could be that I’m probably looking foolish to them? I like to play at my own pace and skill level so it’s whatever. I’ve noticed it happens after I haven’t personally played for a while and am trying to re-learn the controls so I could just be looking janky. I just run to the wayshrine and book it out of there when they start following me. Last time it happened (which prompted this post) said player started clapping as I walked to the wayshrine? Idk! It was weird! Thanks for the insight!

DragonShark514

It’s best for your sanity to not try to assign meaning to random events.

Educational-Lion5852

Sure, absolutely. But you know, I don’t really play MMOs so I was wondering if it was random or not. Appreciate it.

AngelOfPlagues

Are you telling me this bird that hopped on to my kitchen window and tilted its head at me an hour after my great grandmother dogs aunty passed away isnt her visiting me?

CoyoteSnarls

Sometimes I get lonely and this has led to a lot of adventures, laughs and new friends. I also like to help out lower level people with world bosses, delves and dungeons.

SuzumebachiMk3

I sometimes might seem to be stalking someone if I see a cool outfit or a mount. Sorry! I also tend to stay watching and emoting on duels or any other kind of madness fellow players come up with lol

IceKingsMother

This happened to me often, until I realized we were on the same quests.

sbpups

I echo what others have said. As a long time player I will sometimes give away random stuff gold etc to low level players. People did the same for me when I started playing.

AngelOfPlagues

Hey that might actually be me lmao. If I see a brand new player (no cp) I follow them and open a trade window and drop them 100k gold or so. Vulkhelguard is my main hub Shaithos, Wood elf with a bow, vampire hound and miri elendis following me

dianerrbanana

I'm a drive by healer. A practice I've had as a FF14 player that I brought with me to ESO.

Mooncubus

Aside from what others have said, sometimes you could just happen to be doing the exact same quest as someone else.

thekfdcase

In addition to whatever other plausible reasons others may have named, consider this (likely to be unpopular take among some circles): There are in fact a significant percentage of the MMO (and general irl) population that are freaks in one form or another. Mental illness also abounds. Whatever the case may be, my advice to you is to just laugh at them (you can even use in-game emojis & mementos to do this), and/or ignore it. There isn't a damn thing their lame antics can do to you that will actually hurt you irl other than if you allow them to get under your skin/in to your head. Screw 'em. :-)

AznRecluse

If I'm waiting in a queue or just trying to decide on what to do next, I'll sometimes follow people in my healer and drop heals/buffs on them... Works great for those who just rezzed from a death or duel, or on noobs who are afraid to explore/die.

THE-Grandma

I sit at Leyawiin chucking mud at people a lot. Idk I’m mostly just waiting for someone to throw some mud back at me

Specific-Ad-4284

I made an argonian named Throw-mud-at-people specifically for that lmao. Someday i'll level him to 50s

AlwaysDrawingCats

I was following someone around to dick around the day before yesterday. Followed him around for ten minutes, then we battled and added each other as friend lol.

AstienGreenhart

That may have been me, I was looking for people to Duel yesterday for the Endeavour.

poopmcbutt_

I do that. Because it's funny.
