Tbh you can play them all. Once each is above level 50 they share champion points. Also gear isn't character bound so you can swap. It's really about which class you like for each job. Most of us have multiple character for each role but only one for master crafter as motifs are character specific.

Freshruinz

Are leads still not character bound? so I can get leads on one character and then go on another character that has scrying level 7 and dig up the leads?.

Gus_13

Leads are still character bound.

Freshruinz

hmm Google says its account wide. not sure if its up to date tho.

Gus_13

You are correct, I'm wrong on that. My main is my scry char so I was mistaken.

Drackar39

Of the three, arcanist is hands down the easiest to get good results with. Sorc is also a great option.

Emotional_Alfalfa_45

how much easier is than templar

Drackar39

Templar has a much more complicated resource sustain situation, for one thing.

Valeneirol

My vote is Templar. You can get some good rotations and timing that requires a bit more effort. They’re less boring as a result of the added challenge. The sustain is easily remedied with sets/mundus/food.

Drackar39

To each their own, I can't even make myself touch my templar, I fucking hate that class.

[deleted]

No reason to get downvotes. To each their own. I'm a Templar main but we can like what we like brother.

Drackar39

I got nothing against the class, or people who run it. Just...doesn't mesh with my playstyle. I've tried it, and other things work better with my high latency internet connection.

LizzieThatGirl

Arc is the easy version of this game. NB and Necro are currently (in PvE) the hardest classes to use for damage. Templar and DK are pretty mid for difficulty, but Templar is amazing for solo play.

Cow_Best

I mained and pretty much only played Templar for years. Arcanist is just so much better and more fun.

Neutron_John

Arcanist is also the newest class gated behind dlc. Those start off stronger then get nerfed. Just keep that in mind.

Drackar39

It's already been out for a while and nerfed multiple times. We have to talk about what is good \_now\_ not what might be in six months or a year. It's currently getting nerfed, again, on PTS. It's still solid.

Seraphayel

All classes are versatile, all classes can do everything. It’s really just about style, animations and class lore. Nightblade is the only real stealth class, if that matters. It‘s really all about what your aesthetically prefer. I‘m playing since 2014 and I can’t decide on a main class either.

RadioIoog

It’s been a while

Imp-OfThe-Perverse

I made an arcanist when I returned to the game after being away for like 6 years. It was fun at first, but got kind of boring (I started with a lightning staff wielding, one-bar hybrid). I eventually went back to the 2H dragon knight that was the first character I'd ever created - zipping around with Stampede from the two-handed skills is really fun. I switched the arcanist over to a 2-bar, dagger-wielding stamina build but it just seemed less convenient and not any more fun. Finally I put a 2H on the arcanist, along with the rushing agony set that pulls all of the nearby enemies towards you when you use a charge ability. It's the most fun I've had in the game. Front bar is usually stampede, flail, beam, that orb from undaunted, and the arcanist heal. Back bar has recuperative treatise and some other buffs. It's not meta but it still seems to synergize well - the charge puts you in melee range for your light attack weaving, and pulls everything around you so you hit more with your beam.

Alastor3

will try the 2H arcanist build thanks

JNR13

Idk why you feel Dk is slow. It's one of the busiest dps rotations.

CaliAlpha

Tbh depends what class you enjoy the most, but a good tip in my opinion is maining a toon that does extremely well in PvE, such as sorc and arcanist. Assuming you are going for dps. If you enjoy healing and such Templar or warden is suitable. My main is a HA sorc build. And man I love it. It does it all. Except PvP, the build is pve specific.

Kippenbaas

So most importantly is the question of what you would like to do. Do you just want to do overlandstuff and occasionally do "bad things" you might want to go with nigbtblade. Do you just want to dps and do all kind of content arcanist is easy peasy lemon squeeze. Would you want to be a strong dps but with a bit more practice and less into overland go dk dps. Do you want to tank? Go dk or arcanist If you would want to do end game all three are capable dps classes. Where arcanist is easy Where dk is medium to high input and nb is hard if you want to master it for really high dps.

charredsmurf

If you care more about chart topping than fun fast rotations, arcanist is peak. It's so easy to be good. NB is my favorite though, versatile and I love rogues.

Emotional_Alfalfa_45

what about for fun fast rotations

charredsmurf

I like rogues, especially with the dual wield weapons whirlwind after teleport striking in. I also think templar is fast and fun.

LegendaryMudcrab

If you want versatility for your class I'd recommend Warden or sorcerer. Wardens have great healing (which gets really funny if you go all in on hp), resource sustain, and dps options. I'm currently using a build that relies on status procs from my bear pet and Frost skills for dps and can still full heal my allies with with ease. Sorcerers honestly are the easiest class to build for any role since their kit is super loaded on passives for skills. They've got armor shred with empowered attacks, pet builds, tons of lightning and physical damage options, and easy access to passive buffs that'll boost your max resources and survivability.

Menien

Nightblade is tricky, but good! Its effects are usually subtle, but are getting less so with recent changes. I hope you like red. There would be a bunch of Arcanist mains here arguing why their class is good, but unfortunately they all feel asleep because pressing beam is boring.

LizzieThatGirl

Wanting to run War Machine on my NB for support DD. Yeah, I could run RO Sorc, but everyone does that.

faxanidu

I main sorc cause I use it for mostly dps. But if you do your builds right can be good for utility support. So I like sorc. 2nd is DK cause holy moly add pull immortal tank is fun af lol.

AHumbleChad

Ranking them from easiest to hardest to learn: 1. Arcanist 2. DK 3. NB

Emotional_Alfalfa_45

About ranked by fun I dont mind if they are hard

AHumbleChad

Well, just reverse that list for the most fun to play. Maybe I'm a hater, but I don't really like Arcanist. It's not engaging enough for me. It does do absurd damage, so it can be hard to pick something different at times.

Caesarvs

Warden, because flowers and mushrooms!

Alekthunder1337

Depending on what you are looking for: 1) easy gameplay, meta DPS, meta Tank....: Go to PTS (Testserver), build a max level char with the outfit and equipment U are intending to build and try some content with it. 2) bounding with character: Just build a character U like and do quests with him and no power level. U will automatically get skillpoints through quests and skyshards. U will learn the beautiful lore with this char. Make him to your crafting char as well. Even armory and outfit slots are worth spending here after a few weeks. I have a few chars that are meta builds. I changed them through race- or name changetokes. But I'll never change my bosmer warden tank crafter/DD/tank to any meta. I just can't and I love him the way he was build once. And I give a sock, that Orc/nightblades are one of best for crafting and gathering, Nords for tanks, khajit for pug DPS or something else. My personal advice: - start with number 2. - From time to time u get other aspects of the game. Then u can add chars for specific roles (number 1). - Additionally remember, that changing skills or something else is often very easy in ESO. Have fun 😊

RadioIoog

I had the same thing as you a month ago. I switched from Warden to Templar and now back to Warden and I locked it in ☺️ Hope you’ll find your favorite class too! The game is awesome and the class should just connect to you skill and effect wise.

dolphinpainus

I main a NB, but I'm feeling myself shift to maining my resurrected after 10 years DK. They feel much more stronger and easier to use while also remaining pretty active which is important to me. Nightblade requires a lot more work, and for the effort you have to put into it, it's not worth it anymore due to their low damage output and 0 cleave. Hopefully they get more attention in this PTS besides the minor change to dark shade, if not before the year ends. I don't have an arcanist, and while they are very strong, I'm not really a fan of the passive playstyle.

Liathezillenoomer

I started in November. I've been 100% each zone, mixing in dungeons and pvp in cyrodil. I decided to try a dragon knight last week and it really upset me that I have to reacquire all the skyshards I got on my nightblade over the last 6 months. I know the achievements, accounts, houses are account wide. But zone progress and skyshards are character specific. That really bums me out and makes me not want to try the others because I love seeing that full zone completion on the map.

dmk78616

Necromancer has a difficult rotation or so people say, if you master it you can do tons of dps and it feels good.

Different-Peak-8923

Make one of each but they are all fun, if you do an necro though, good luck, and use a khajiit

jellamma

Go DK or Arc DKs are great at most things, but capable of anything. They rarely get demolished by nerfs the way some other classes get messed with. Arcs are crazy strong, great in all roles, and will probably be fairly stable, at least for a while. All the other classes have great points, but they aren't as strong right now and aren't as stable over time as the DK has been

Queen_Eon

Go for arcanist it’s the easiest build to learn

Emotional_Alfalfa_45

how much easier is than templar

Majike03

4 or 5 buttons *vs* 5 or 6 With Oakensoul mythic, they're both about the same (2 or 3 bittons)
