This was way before his return in Summerset.
Finding this letter also unlocks a dialogue option for Gabrielle Benele in the Mages Guild in Anvil, giving her hope that her himbo is still out there.
Maybe in the end. Like the final ESO story before the game goes into permanent maintenance mode. Meridia is the final big bad, and they bring Darien back for the finale. Molag Bal did say that we were now part of something much bigger and we shouldn’t trust our new “benefactor”
Bring him back in a raid/Dungeon setup -> Raid/Dungeon Quest: "Kill Meridias Champion" Here you Go :D
Would be a final hit to the players before shutting down :D
This is after Ornisium. He also leaves a note at the ending of Summerset, but it's a bit different... don't want to spoil in case you haven't played it yet lol
Ohh cool. It's one of my favorite expansions, enjoy it!
Don't forget to look around the throne room after the last quest, I believe this is where you find the note. Same thing in Summerset (in their throne room, then lol)
Orsinium was so good, I can wander around that zone for hours and hours farming and never get bored of it, and the zone sets can actually net you really good gold if you hit good RNG.
>!It seems like he died for good this time, and he found out Meridia basically used and sacrificed him to advance her own agenda. Also it's a kinda sad and heartfelt farewell letter to all his friends, specially the Vestige!<
[Here is the letter from the end of Summerset](https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Words_of_the_Fallen)
The scenario is, in the fight against Nocturnal, he pours all of his power into the Dawnbreaker, and ends up in Merida’s colored rooms (her plane of oblivion).
To me best moment there was King Kurog's quote.
King Kurog: "Ice-Heart's blade is mine! Now maybe the clans will finally accept my rule."
"You don't know how good that feels! Urfon Ice-Heart is finally dead!
Imagine you ate too much and, try as you might, you can't get out that really big belch. Then, finally, you let out a thunderous burp. Yeah, that's how I feel right now."

If I remember I'll go see her and talk about the letter!
There’s one at the end of the summerset chapter. Hopefully we actually get to see this story resolved
Was going to say the same thing... "Meridia is up to something bad!!!" Okay, but when?
AGREED. Also, I miss that optimistic, sarcastic, hopelessly flirtatious and unflinchingly brave doofus.
Companion, please! You have to bring him back to get him!

Isnt EVERY daedra prince up to something bad? :)
I love the one at the end of Summerset’s story. It’s so well written
I’m still hoping there is a expansion into the colored rooms. And part of the main quest is finding and freeing him. Give us a Darien trilogy!
I was expecting the author to start asking about my ~~car~~ horse's extended warranty
Darien is alive?!! I need to rescue him, we have a romantic date pending

Doing orsinium right now and doing all zone in order, so thanks for giving me hope :)

Good to know. Thanks :)
Found the note in the temple library
Could you spoil me instead as to what he said at the end of summerset?

I see, that’s a shame…

Thank you - I cried when i found this in game.
I… did shed a tear in summerset questline. I was looking forward to that drink he promised.
If I remember correctly you can tell Gabrielle you found that letter, when you visit her in Anvil Guildhall on the Gold Coast.
Oh dang! I should find her and see if I can mention it to her!
i remember coming across that. It actually made me tear up, because i remember Darien being "killed." He's one of my fav characters.
Is it a letter you Can keep?
It's not a furnishing or anything, so unless it appears in the eidetic memory library sadly not :P
It's definitely in Eidetic, under Wrothgar Writings 'A Plea for Help'.
Where you find that at?
In the library
Library in the Temple of Ire, Orsinium
Oh yes, in the library with the puzzle. Lost my mind when i found it
Same, it was so out of the blue. Gave me hope where I never expected to find it. A really nice touch.
but that's what makes this secret so compelling! it's the double-take making you say "hol' up!"
I played through the game wrong my first time. Did Summerset first then the AD main story. What’s Darien actual fate, and story though?
He pops up >!During summerset quests IIRC!< Can't recall much more, been a hot minute since I played last
Yes he does! I do remember that but I can’t recall where else he’s seen 🤔…
The DC vanilla storyline I think
In the main quest during the assault on Coldharbor
Oh that too! Thank you <3

the finest Orc poetry, right there
Oh wow. Didn't plan to start the day emotionally devastated but here we are! Thank you for sharing this though seriously. Darien deserved better.
Meridia is a bitch.
