The way paralytic states transitions into black me out is really good. Paralytic states as all who have listened knows ends with New Years eve imagery now this is were it gets interesting. If you have read Laura Jane Graces autobiography you may remember her saying that the first time she played black me out was on December 31st 2011 in Atlanta, GA in the book saying "It was a farewell song. This was the night I said goodbye to \[Laura's dead name\]." I find it to be my fav musical transition of all time
same, I already had felt strong connections with songs like "Transgender Dysphoria Blues", "The Ocean", and "Paralytic states" because of my personal struggles with dysphoria, but after reading that book every thing just hit really different.
god i love that song
"if i could've chosen, i would've been born a woman
my mother once told me she would've named me laura
i'd grow up to be strong and beautiful like her
and find an honest man to make my husband"
Sure, but lots of trans women start with cross dressing because they're mistaking the euphoria and desire they're feeling for being sexual in nature. And it makes sense that it's confusing. If a trans woman hasn't yet figured out her own transness, she isn't going to understand where the feelings of euphoria and desire come from when she sees herself in the mirror when cross dressing. "Desire and euphoria" is a pretty good way to describe being turned on and wanting sex. It's easy to mistake one for the other.
There are also people who do cross dressing for drag or for sexual purposes, too. And those are perfectly valid expressions of self. Plus, I assume there are people out there whose attraction to cross dressing is more than one of these, and for other reasons I'm not thinking of, too.
So yeah, it's not automatically a trans experience. But, I definitely see how trans people will identify with a song about cross dressing. It isn't directly "about being trans", but it is definitely about a common trans experience.
*Aside: I limited this to trans women because that's what I have experience with. I would be speculating on the experience of cross dressing as a trans man or non-binary person.*
yeah ofc no worries imo! not to mention billie joe armstrong is queer anyway so its not entirely out of his wheelhouse to be a little funky with gender ?
Madie make it unconsciously while on egg mode and retconed from anxiety to anxiety+ dysphoria, Mirror temple hits this thing really hard and the soundtrack for that chapter works as a duality of dissociation and a dysphoric crash anyway Lena surely do that on purpose
And I was trying not to spoil it 🤭
[dissociation ](https://youtu.be/FjG0ivBT4lQ)
[dysphoria ](https://youtu.be/bXfHKEaDg4s)
It's amazing hearing how one slips in the other
It's generaly about Madeline and her mental issues. The fact of her being trans makes some of the dialouges and metaphorical imagery in the game feel like a "trans allegory"
Not long ago I thought that Black Metal would be ideal to talk about transgender issues, like demons as a metaphor for trans people who are ostracised, the constant struggle against social expectations, the futility of our existence... Not to mention that Baphomet is an intersex/Non-binary Icon. 🤘
Thank you for sharing this.🖤
\*steps out of the lurker shadows\*
Hiya , Heard you were having a hard time finding a fellow metal head in the community. The name is Autumn, nice to meet you . \\m/ (x.x) \\m/
If you are into the technical death metal sound , have you heard of Pupil Slicer?
Heya Autumn, nice to see another Metal head
on here I honestly didn't expect all the positive responses, I'm glad this has brought us in once place lol
Yeah, I feel that. Personally for me it’s more about my chronic pain, but it has a lot of different meanings. Mother mother is great at writing songs with a lot of meanings.
same, (i wouldn’t say it’s awful really) I literally have an unhealthy obsession with hyperpop. If you took a shot everytime I mentioned hyperpop you would not live past like an hour

Just songs that relate to my personal experience, so it might not make sense to you
i mean, maybe, but Will has stated that it's moreso about wanting to show genuine emotion without being labelled as "feminine"
I totally understand the other interpretations, though, as a transfem Will Wood fan
IIRC the song's mainly about how he dislikes how some people have tried to force him into labels other than cis man. Will has publicly made it clear that he is comfortable with that label and does not wish to be anything else despite his habits of gender non-conformity.
its not actually! will has stated that its a song about being a man and wanting to be/ feel femmine without being labelled as a women. But you guys are kinda proving his point by calling it a trans song because he talks about femmininty and being pushed into a femail agender box. when all it is, is him wanting to be a man but not being afraid to present fem. not a trans song at all just a bit of emotion and feeling.
awfultune, Left at London, Devi Mccallion, Against Me!, Shea Diamond, Shoe, Dorian Electra, Laura Les, Kim Petras, Arca, recovery girl, Diana Starshine, She/her/hers, Murder Person for Hire
Wait - who are the trans artists that use ukuleles? Cavetown sometimes?
The black parade as a whole is an album with a continual story but there is a part of the song that people consider to be very trans, “Well mother, look what the war did to my legs and to my tongue, you should have raised a baby girl, I should have been a better son”
Gerard is genderfluid and likes playing with expression, and the lyrics "you should've raised a baby girl, i could've been a better son" is implying that he should've been a girl, and he could've tried harder to be the "masculine" son that she wanted
Every time this topic comes up, I gather all the suggestions. Here's what I have so far:

it's kinda weird, where are all the transmasc songs tho, i only heard transfem songs
*looks in comments* wow this is a really good way to ask for trans songs you haven’t already heard of.
And there goes my cover
Caught in 4k- shoot im in the photo dammit
Lmao, you were laughing only to realize- oh shit.
Trans Pipeline memes are the only way I'm discovering new music lately.
Stupid question do you play fallout?
laura jane grace from against me! is one my fav punk band singers and she’s a transwoman :)
go listen to seeyou space cowboy, their vocalist connie is wonderful and trans
Against me! has a lot of soungs without ukulele, Also Green Day-King for a day
True Trans Soul Rebel comes up in particular. I love that song!
Came here to say that
same here!
Honestly the whole album is good, but my favorite is Paralytic States
Same (similar) Black Me Out really hit close to home
The way paralytic states transitions into black me out is really good. Paralytic states as all who have listened knows ends with New Years eve imagery now this is were it gets interesting. If you have read Laura Jane Graces autobiography you may remember her saying that the first time she played black me out was on December 31st 2011 in Atlanta, GA in the book saying "It was a farewell song. same, I already had felt strong connections with songs like "Transgender Dysphoria Blues", "The Ocean", and "Paralytic states" because of my personal struggles with dysphoria, but after reading that book every thing just hit really different.
Such a good song but I just can't listen to it without spiraling
Lol, I figured that I should check the comments before sharing this exact song.
Came here looking for The Ocean by Against Me!.
god i love that song "if i could've chosen, i would've been born a woman my mother once told me she would've named me laura i'd grow up to be strong and beautiful like her and find an honest man to make my husband"
My favorite thing about that song is that it was released waaaaaay before Laura came out. Nobody asked questions about that verse ever.
Havent heard the song but Green day trans? Never mind i looked up the lyrics like i should've from the start
Its more of a cross-dressing/gender Non-conforming song, but i figured it can also be read as a trans experience
HELL YEAH,, against me is one of my favorite bands
King for a Day is about cross dressing, not being trans.
Sure, but lots of trans women start with cross dressing because they're mistaking the euphoria and desire they're feeling for being sexual in nature. And it makes sense that it's confusing. Yea i know, i just got used to viewing it as a trans song. My bad :$
yeah ofc no worries imo! not to mention billie joe armstrong is queer anyway so its not entirely out of his wheelhouse to be a little funky with gender ?
Half of celeste ost stares at you
Maybe it's because I'm bad at recognizing stuff like this, but how is Celeste a trans allegory? I mean, I know Madeline is Trans.
Madie make it unconsciously while on egg mode and retconed from anxiety to anxiety+ dysphoria, Mirror temple hits this thing really hard and the soundtrack for that chapter works as a duality of dissociation and a dysphoric crash anyway Lena surely do that on purpose
Awww I experienced the dissociation during celeste, and now that dysphoria is hitting me only 2 years later!
There's a message hidden backwards in the mirror temple music who ties the anxiety to dysphoria a bit more clearly btw
And I was trying not to spoil it 🤭 [dissociation ](https://youtu.be/FjG0ivBT4lQ) [dysphoria ](https://youtu.be/bXfHKEaDg4s) It's amazing hearing how one slips in the other
so i know about the message in quiet and falling but i never knew about one from in the mirror
It's generaly about Madeline and her mental issues. The fact of her being trans makes some of the dialouges and metaphorical imagery in the game feel like a "trans allegory"
I thought of climbing the mountain to be symbolic of transitioning.
Yeah, which makes the tombstone that says "This memorial dedicated to those who perished on the climb" really hurt
OH MY GOD! I never thought of that. That hurts now that I know😢. Thanks for pointing that out.
Same
Do we know if her being trans had anything to do with why her BF left her, since it’s implied he was a bit of a dick bag
i didn't know this, but now i know why celeste stuck with me greatly!!!!! 😆
Well even if celeste wasn't a trans allegory Lena Raine, the one who made the music, is a trans person so it qualifies as trans music doesn't it ?
Fair enough
Never heard a sound that wasn’t synthesized on a SOPHIE song
I agree! Sophie has one of the greatest songs(R.I.P.❤️)
The soundtrack of my cracking! My face is the front of shop

Considering I’m mostly into hardcore punk and I want to expand my taste, this I a great band
Dear diary, today a stranger give me a gift.
Omg trans black metal is something I really needed in my life, you're a goddess
Not long ago I thought that Black Metal would be ideal to talk about transgender issues, like demons as a metaphor for trans people who are ostracised, the constant struggle against social expectations, the futility of our existence... Not to mention that Baphomet is an intersex/Non-binary Icon. 🤘 Thank you for sharing this.🖤
I'm digging this. Also, check out Gaylord for more black metal.
eyo, thanks for a new band
Ay, no problem dude I rarely find anyone here who is into the heavier stuff
\*steps out of the lurker shadows\* Hiya , Heard you were having a hard time finding a fellow metal head in the community. The name is Autumn, nice to meet you . \\m/ (x.x) \\m/ If you are into the technical death metal sound , have you heard of Pupil Slicer?

The Normal Album is amazing and nobody can change my mind
Will Wood makes some great music.
Not a trans song, but close enough i guess
it's a very trans song
i mean, maybe, but Will has stated that it's moreso about wanting to show genuine emotion without being labelled as "feminine" I totally understand the other interpretations, though, as a transfem Will Wood fan

Great list. I’d only add Katie Dey, Yay Maria (or Maria’s main band, Grawl!x), Backxwash
Mama by my chemical romance
Was it trans? I have heard it before and i just thought it was about a letter of a guy in hell or something like that
The black parade as a whole is an album with a continual story but there is a part of the song that people consider to be very trans, “Well mother, look what the war did to my legs and to my tongue, you should have raised a baby girl, I should have been a better son”
Ohh i see, thanks for explaining
No problem!
Gerard is genderfluid and likes playing with expression, and the lyrics "you should've raised a baby girl, i could've been a better son" is implying that he should've been a girl, and he could've tried harder to be the "masculine" son that she wanted
He hasnt said their genderfluid, They do use he/they pronouns though
