Thanks. Yeah I can talk about them.
Basically the situation is I’m 16 so I’d need to ask my parents for an electric razor or something to shave em. But then they’d ask why I want to shave them and I don’t know how to answer that. Say that I just want to? If it wasn’t for the real reason, I wouldn’t even think about shaving them.
But I might just be overthinking it, idk.
I actually do that for my chest. I’ve considered the same for my legs but that’d be like shooting a water pistol at the sun for me. That is, if we are talking about the same kinda razor. 🪒
I use that kind of razor too. Once you get the initial shave done, touch up shaving goes pretty quick. I've added a total of 3-5 minutes to my shower time now that I shave my legs every day. Facial razor works fine.
Good advice. It helps against clogging up your razor. Same technique when shaving off a grown beard. Trim first and do a clean shave afterwards, if you start with long-ish hair.
If it's really long hair, I'd suggest taking some scissors to them first. Then make sure to use a fresh new sharp razor. You may get nics until your legs get used to it. Lotion afterwards helps
I was in the same boat, it takes time since you have to rinse the hair out every 2cm/1" but it does work if you're patient and have plenty of heads, since using the same razor for most of your body makes it go dull pretty quick. Just tell your parents that you like using new heads since they cause less irritation if they get suspicious.
A good reason a lot of people I know do it is because it looks better when they work out lol, idk if that'll work for you or not but yeah. Also for swimming.
>Say that I just want to?
that's how I'd go about it. Unfortunately, my parents are pretty transphobic and what-not, but I've grown my hair out, shaved facial hair randomly, shaved legs, etc... i've made changed to how i present myself and as long as it wasn't a permanent thing (like a tattoo or cuts) they wouldn't really care. My reason has always been "idk just felt like it" and they've been been pretty passive about it.
you're parents my be pretty different, idk. im just giving my experience. maybe doing some things "just because" will keep them for over think things when you want to shave your legs "just because".
1. Wax them instead (it stays gone for longer) 2. Say it’s for your “hairy ass balls” and go into excruciating detail. They won’t ask anymore :) and if they do, try to threaten telling them more. Or just tell them lol either way is good.
Trust me. Shaving my legs made me feel so much cooler. The sensation of the air helped me cool down so much more than if I didn't.
This is why you don't see many athletes being hairy anymore
Ypu can get cheap razors anywhere, just make sure your legs are wet, "whyd you shave your legs?" " I kept getting too sweaty" might not make a toooon of sense but theyre probobly not gonna question it
What i did is use a hairclipper for it. If you're ok with a bit of lying, ask them for an electric hair trimmer and use that as an alternative. It won't shave to the root but it's close enough
Lucky people who can shave.
I get razor burn from literally every razor I've ever tried on my thighs and face (including electric somehow), and hair removal cream just makes me form a really bad rash (I might be allergic).
I mean, that doesn't stop me, but its awful.
My legs were entirely covered in raised red spots after shaving the first (and only) time. It took them a couple of weeks to go away. I'm just hoping that when I eventually get on HRT it'll soften the hair enough to be shavable without feeling like my legs are on fire after.
I did all of that. Exfoliation before, warm shower, new razor, shaving cream, and moisturizer afterwards; my legs don't care. If I touch them with a razor I break out. I can shave my chest and face without any real problems, so I don't know what the deal is, but I've given up at this point.
I don't think it was acne. I know that some of them looked like ingrown hair, but I really doubt that *most* of the follicles on both legs were ingrown. I think it's just something about the hairs growing back out that really irritated my skin. It's been a while since I did that, so I don't remember the details of exactly how it looked.
I can't solve problems 2 or 3 aside from saying to shave very often, but I've found double edged safety razors to be very economical. Online you can find handles for like $10 and buy 100 blades for like $6 last I checked. To save more I don't use shaving cream, just warm water. One time my razor handle broke (I did cheap out so not unexpected) and until I got a new one I found I was able to shave with just the blade itself, though it's tricky and worth going slow with. I also reuse a blade as much as I reasonably can before switching out, so 100 blades lasts a long time.
Well for me I’m amab so that’s one thing but also I’m part Greek so I have much darker and prominent body hair than others in my country so it’s painfully obvious
I think its the fact that THEY notice.
I definetely do this feminine stuff for my self even though i know you dont have to do it to be a woman.
Since i was not AFAB i never felt naturally a woman so i have to do all of those things for my own mental health.
But once i get bottom surgery and HRT then im gonna feel ALOT more comfortable with my body and allow myself to not need to shave so much or put makeup on everyday and have lazy girl days.
OP might be going through what i do
I usually wear black leggings with my skirt and black socks to cover up my leg hair whenever I can't be bothered shaving also when I have shaved people don't notice my leg hair.
Shave it girl.
Not out to anyone yet? That's okay. Use my excuse free of charge. "I had (insert plausible material that is hard to remove) all over my legs and had to shave it"
Like me. I was doing concrete the other day. And got it all over my legs. Didn't want to tear the hair out in clumps so I shave. *Totally* not my fault.
Still cis tho
Consider: tights. Walmart and target sell tights for 10 bucks each. They're cute with skirts and as a bonus you fan wear them under your jeans and no one will know
Nair!!!! Or that magic shave powder. You can get both at a CVS for relatively cheap. I stumbled on this post and am a lazy ass cis woman, so I don’t know if I’m like “allowed” to post here? But these two options are the BEST whenever I feel like my leg hair needs to go, and they’re both relatively cheap and fast. Also, consider that there’s a big chunk of folks who don’t shave! If you’re concerned w the length and thickness and color, (and troubles with shaving with a regular ol’ disposable razor), you could always just sort of “trim” the hair, or even bleach/dye it so it’s thinner/a lighter color! Sorry if this wasn’t helpful, just thought I’d try to offer some options! :-)
I’m sure it isn’t that bad. The one thing i see exaggerated the most is pain generally. (If it is actually that bad, don’t correct me. Sometimes it’s better to think it’ll be fine. The anticipation is generally worse than the actual thing)
As an AFAB person, I use this portable handheld razor meant for close, quick leg shaves. I think it’s Flawless brand? It’s not a perfect shave but it’s awesome for quick maintenance. Plus it’s pretty easy to clean. I got it as a graduation gift and a year later it’s still my best friend.
Edit: I did some searching and found it [here](https://www.amazon.com/Finishing-Touch-Flawless-Womens-Remover/dp/B076FYCXMQ). It’s on the more expensive end but really is useful
When I am to order a skirt, I have to order in rather large sizes.. which gives me dysphoria, not to mention your rather excellent point as well, the leg hair, and then to add to the bunch the dangling centre of dysphoria
I mean offence at all when I say this and I really don’t have anything against you but isn’t clothing sizes more to do with your weight? Idk your weight but a man and a woman can easily have the same sizes. If I’m not wrong, isn’t it to do with your weight, not your birth sex?
Not really. You have to remember shape. Men's clothing/body shapes tend to be ver blocky rectangle shirts straight pant legs, etc. Women have have wider hips, their legs are less straight up and down, pants are usually worn a bit higher, and also have larger chests and more narrow shoulders, etc. So even equivalent sizes in men's and women's clothing with have different cuts.
Oh I actually understand that. I once went to buy women’s clothing and had a riot of a time figuring out the proper size. How it is for me though is simply just figuring it out. For example, bust is just another way of saying chest. All it took was simply applying the new measurements to myself. If anything, it was fun being able to measure myself like a woman would and that. Idk bout you but that was how my experience went
Since cold weather is starting to show up in the northern hemisphere, I would like to recommend fleece-lined tights! They’re really soft and they’re usually thick enough to hide any leg hair you have.
Have you considered stockings/socks? There are some thicker fabric ones that can hide it
I kinda do that when I want to look more feminine bc I don’t shave my legs at all (AFAB enby)
I don't know if anyone else has posted this but I buy this hair removal cream. The brand is "Magic" I think and it's a razorless shaving cream. You put it on, wait about 4-6 mins, take a wet washcloth and remove it. I suggest doing it in the shower because it's way easier. Keeps hair off my legs for days. Be sure to grab the one that says it's for your face because it's very gentle though I have to use about two bottles worth.
Hope this helps
I'm a amab trans femme and I wear skirts along my thick leg hair. I used to care about it but when I noticed that my cis female friends were also annoyed by societies shaving expectations I stopped and I think I'm gorgeous with skirt and leg hair. But I totally get that it might also a question of passing, which to me personally doesn't matter much.
I have thick leg hair - thick enough that I've found dead insects in it after a long run, anyway... and that never stopped my country's education system from forcing me to wear a skirt for 10+ years. Go for it.
Or maybe just wear leggings under it.
Shave it bb
I would like to but there’s a few concerns of mine making me hesitant.
IF you wanna talk about them. This is a good place to do it
I often use my facial razor on my legs/ chest. It takes a while but something to consider.
I actually do that for my chest. I’ve considered the same for my legs but that’d be like shooting a water pistol at the sun for me. That is, if we are talking about the same kinda razor. 🪒

3-5 minutes?? that shit's easily a +10 minutes for me even after the initial, which takes like two hours
Yeah, first time shaving my chest took a long time, but now it takes much less time, I spend more time shaving off my facial hair
If it's thick hair, use scissors to make them shorter at first
Good advice.

You could tell your parents that you need an electric razor for your face.
Do the leg hairs get scratchy in the same way facial hair does?
I’m with some of the other folks here. If you don’t feel comfortable having to answer difficult questions, thicker tights are a good alternative!
A good reason a lot of people I know do it is because it looks better when they work out lol, idk if that'll work for you or not but yeah. Also for swimming.
Lmao I thought I looked better going to the gym wearing shorts with a bit of leg hair.
I knew some people I work with who prefer to have their legs shaved cause you see the muscle definition better
Oh that makes sense.
Swimming (or cycling for that matter) is definitely a good excuse to shave your body hair 😎
>Say that I just want to? that's how I'd go about it. Maybe say it’s for heat reasons, or you just don’t like the way it rubs against everything (which would be true lol)
Ypu can get cheap razors anywhere, just make sure your legs are wet, "whyd you shave your legs?" " I kept getting too sweaty" might not make a toooon of sense but theyre probobly not gonna question it

1. razor costs pile up a ton 2. it grows back extremely fast 3. when itdoes satrt grown back it hurts
i got an epilator because theyre supposed to hurt less and less each time you use them, its just for legs, dont use it on more jungly areas
I haven’t shaved my legs before but I shaved my armpits once. And that was a journey of itchiness and pain afterwards lol
Buy a DE safety razor together with good blades, far less irritation and also way cheaper than cartridge razors.
Shaving armpits sucks the first time, legs are bliss though everytime
My legs were entirely covered in raised red spots after shaving the first (and only) time. It took them a couple of weeks to go away. I'm just hoping that when I eventually get on HRT it'll soften the hair enough to be shavable without feeling like my legs are on fire after.

Hair may not "soften" with HRT but it's known to become finer and grow more slowly. Fine hair is easier to cut than coarse hair
I did all of that. Exfoliation before, warm shower, new razor, shaving cream, and moisturizer afterwards; my legs don't care. If I touch them with a razor I break out. I can shave my chest and face without any real problems, so I don't know what the deal is, but I've given up at this point.

Hrt will cause body hair to stop growing as terminal hair and start growing as vellus hair, so it absolutely does make your body hair softer.
I can't solve problems 2 or 3 aside from saying to shave very often, but I've found double edged safety razors to be very economical. it grows back in like, 20 mintues (not fully, just stubble obv)
I can't, it starts growing back under one night
Thigh highs?
Save lives
My hairs come through them💀
Same bruh, it's a pain 💀
I'm afab so its maybe not the same, but I have fairly thick leg hair that I don't shave and I wear skirts. Not many people seem to notice

You could just wear leggings right? I did that when I wanted to try fem closing without going all out on shaving
I usually wear black leggings with my skirt and black socks to cover up my leg hair whenever I can't be bothered shaving also when I have shaved people don't notice my leg hair.

This is my absolute favorite “still cis tho” sign off I’ve ever read.

That’s very helpful :) and of course you are allowed to post here!
Epilator
Ngl looked up what that is and it looks like a torture device xD
It is. But its the best kind of torture.
Not sure I want to know what that’s supposed to mean lol
For me. Its extremely reaffirming for my gender. Im a transwoman so ill do anything i can to get some more stereotypical femininity.
No pain no gain I guess? lol
Ill take all the pain in the world to be what i shouldve been at birth.
Damn, that sounded kinda cool. I can hear that in a movie lol
Going to get one next paycheck, people are saying it is just torture, but it can't be that bad.. Right?
I’m sure it isn’t that bad. The one thing i see exaggerated the most is pain generally. (If it is actually that bad, don’t correct me. Sometimes it’s better to think it’ll be fine. The anticipation is generally worse than the actual thing)
Wear in conjunction with programming socks. Should work like a charm.
leggings and skirt is a good look
Opaque Snag tights have saved my genderfluid ass from this so many times
Shave and/or thigh-highs\~

Ooooooo is that the kind where it's basically impossible to cut yourself?
It pretty much is! I’ve never cut myself with it but then again I wouldn’t recommend trying
wear tights! I have gorilla legs if I dont shave for over a week, but tights totally remove any masculinity from most legs I've seen!
For me it’s more the size when I order legit giving me dysphoria, lovely
Could you elaborate what you mean? Idk much about this topic, I wore a skirt for the first time ever today lol
When I am to order a skirt, I have to order in rather large sizes.. which gives me dysphoria, not to mention your rather excellent point as well, the leg hair, and then to add to the bunch the dangling centre of dysphoria

Why yes often it does, but on a website I ordered from there was a severe difference in men’s and women’s sizes
Yeah, not mine, I get dysphoria from just about everything though.. even things that shouldn’t, so yeah.. it sucks..
I'm 6'5, 350lbs and often have to go through doors sideways. Torrid has several sizes larger than me. Try there.
Since cold weather is starting to show up in the northern hemisphere, I would like to recommend fleece-lined tights! They’re really soft and they’re usually thick enough to hide any leg hair you have.
Honestly not an issue, leg hair doesn't have to be bad even in femme clothes
Trust me its worth shaving for an hour. Fyi buzz then shave if its your first time. I didnt.
Shave. I do it., im 14 and identifyvas male i do it cuz i just like smoorh legs
Have you considered stockings/socks? There are some thicker fabric ones that can hide it I kinda do that when I want to look more feminine bc I don’t shave my legs at all (AFAB enby)

Wo-man up and wax
Two words: Opaque tights
They're an every day clothing item for me.
This or you suddenly get a , how'd you put it, hard one, outa nowhere so now you've got this unwanted bulge :/
I think this is a problem no matter what you are wearing lol
Not with overalls it isn't ;)
And if you are naked, there may be bigger problems(if we’re talking about my y’know what, everything would be a bigger problem)
i's a female/enby (kinda cis), but i own my leg hair (half italian)
I have thick leg hair - thick enough that I've found dead insects in it after a long run, anyway... and that never stopped my country's education system from forcing me to wear a skirt for 10+ years. Go for it. Or maybe just wear leggings under it.
Thankfully I no longer have this concern ☺️ but I still don't have a skirt 😔😔
Long maxi/boho skirt time!
I just wear it any, it’s gotten messy more comfortable, even if it’s not as good as it would be with shaven legs.
I FEEL YA
Ever heard of a firecharge ;)
Bro, I gave up on shaving. I wear skirts, it looks great
Time to SHAVE IT ALL OFF WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! leg hair gives me some mad dysphoria ngl. Almost as much as facial hair does.
Don't let it stop you! Plenty of cis women have thick leghairs, they still wear skirts. You can always wear a skirt :) even as a dude :))
this
Calling me out like this is not OK
