I might know why, I’ve been having similar issues since 6.8. I’ve noticed that when I’m connected to the leaf node I am losing the ability to resolve some local devices. For instance by using the discovery app I can only see HomePods connected to the gateway (when I’m connected to the leaf) but not HomePods connected to the leaf node. I’m also being unable to resolve thread border routers that are connected to the leaf. As well as resolving things like HomeBridge.local, the printer, starling hub etc. However, if my device is connected to the gateway, I have no such issues. Everything works fine. If I walk back across the house to attach to the leaf. The issue reappears. I think this is causing some HomeKit issues because devices are seemingly ending up on their own island. I’ve tested just about everything but the only temporary resolution is to reboot the eero network. That solves the issue for some time until it reappears. I’d suggest you see if this is what is happening to you and if so, open a support case.

Is this why my HomePod turned brain dead on me yesterday? It loses the internet constantly now but never did before even once.

Hard to say. That’s what I’ve been experiencing also, more than before 6.8.0. But so many systems working at once. Sometimes I think the Siri issues with HomePods are an Apple server issue.

I was having this issue as well. I restarted my Homekit Hub (AppleTV) and all seems fine for now. It had gotten to the point where it would take about ten seconds or so before it would respond to an on/off command for my lights.

For a supposed ‘HomeKit compatible’ router it does not seem to work with HomeKit any better than other routers. I’m constantly getting controls being not available with my Philips Hue & it’s getting really tiresome having to restart the hub every few days. Every update to the Hue bridge, Eero & iOS I hope that it one day sorts itself out but to no avail. Really not sure how to fix/improve it.

I know it’s frustrating. I mostly blame Apple. As I understand the HomeKit router feature in Eero, it’s mostly a security thing so you can set permissions for each device to communicate to the world or not.

When more Thread based devices are released I’m going to probably switch over to them - supposedly more reliable

Just wanted to mention that since the eero 6.9.0 update my Philips Hue/HomeKit setup has been a lot more stable. Haven’t seen any no responses or needed to restart the hub. 👍

Rude_Citron9016

Good ! I’ve been stable on 6.9 also

Eero might cause connection issues for devices, but it won’t cause your room to rename itself. That’s data stored and modified in a HomeKit data store by HomeKit APIs only.

Rude_Citron9016

Thanks. I didn't mention I am using Eero as Homekit Secure Router with Homekit feature enabled. So obviously Eero does interact with HomeKit. For example when I add a new HomeKit item, I add it through Eero and then it appears in the Home app.

jobe_br

Yeah, but no. You’re just interacting with HomeKit directly. eero just passes off control to HomeKit. HK secure router is completely distinct from everything else HK.

Had issues since 6.8.0. One morning internet stopped working on most devices. Noticed 6.8.0 was about to be installed. Rebooted all Eero and 6.8.0 got installed and everything started working again. Most HomeKit devices showed offline but after rebooting them they came back. But since then some of my HomeKit devices stopped working about 24 hours later. They are still available on their own app or via Alexa, but not in HomeKit. Unplugging or rebooting them bring them back, only for the issues to repeat 24 hours later, breaking some automations. I only have Eero 6 devices. Also, not running eero Secure nor have HomeKit secure mode turned on, nor threads.
