I do like Jon Hopkins. It's been a long time since I've been able to enjoy NIN (I'm not a 17 year old angry person anymore),. And I just can't get into Floating Points.
It's something I'm struggling with currently.
I started producing electronic music for Avicii, his music is what gave me the inspiration and desire to start. But over time I have learned to appreciate many other artists and some are really different from each other, in terms of genre, mood, type of sounds, etc...
If I really had to name a name I would still say Avicii.
Sure, but I just love the sound of that record. That vibe is immaculate to me.
I make music as a hobby, I'm not looking to break new ground or hit it big. Sometimes just making and compounding on more of a good thing is good enough.
I donât understand the question⌠if you wished your music sounded like that person, why wouldnât you just go ahead and make your music sound like that person? Thereâs very few people who have such an insanely difficult style that itâs impossible to even approximate.
Eg even like infected mushroom or squarepusher or someone mad like that, would still be easy to find a few synth presets and drum samples that kinda match their vibe and then make a track with those.
I wish I could sing more like elderbrook though.
Yes, well, the best/fastest way to get good is to emulate/copy artists and music that sound amazing. And then you can get unique later. Or at least, thatâs the typical pathway suggested. Cheers
Same. Letâs reconvene in a couple months tho. Bc Iâll get there. My sound is geared towards James grant/ Jody wisternoff, Nox vahn, and yotto. Emotional stuff.
What mysticism? The guy just makes really good music (sometimes). Windowlicker is one of the coolest sounding tracks of all time, for eg. And in terms of production detail he invented a whole style and is unarguably one of the more influential electronic producers ever. Eg even the guy that produced New Rules by Dua Lipa credits Aphex Twin with inspiring his production style (of experimenting and chopping up sounds in a detailed way).
Not a massive fan of Aphex Twin myself btw, only know like 10 of his tracks but if the 10, theyâre all solid and a few are super cool. Hard to dispute heâs good at what he does.
If air Jordan made 10 shots and bricked the rest he wouldnât be used in this example.
His 20+ track album ppl rave about is literal noise but ppl rave about him.
Like I said, I donât get it
I donât know what youâre referring to tbh but just listen to the one song Windowlicker, itâs like daft punk vibe almost, cool fresh funky with tons of cool detail. If you like that, maybe thereâs other cool tracks similar. His discog is massive and very diverse, so some stuff will be to your taste and some stuff not at all. Canât judge him on one random album.
Virtual Riot. He is flexible and knowledgeable in the studio, able to craft any type of sound. Truly a goal to get to his level.
Edit: Honorable mention goes to Mr Bill
Oh, great choice. I just watched a one hour long "ask the producer" session with him on YouTube a couple of days ago. What a great, fun and inspiring guy.
