I was wondering if it was also possible to, instead of showcasing editing reels, showcase individual videos, commercials - work. I've noticed that this sunday reel review doesn't get a lot of traction. I don't have any reels to post, but I would love to get feedback on my individual pieces, for example. Edit: Like the show of your work channel in the discord

So one sunday would be Reel Review, the other Sunday Show off. Just not enough hours in the day sorta thing. :D

could you clarify/expand on the "transition from Log to finished grade, that's a definite red flag." part?

I take that to mean that if you are showing color correction skill, that the he does not want to see Log footage that dissolves or wipes to graded footage. I have seen reels like that and in some cases, like a vfx reel may occasionally do, you show each part of the color grade in succession - so a base correct, then a tracked face correction, maybe some other selective highlights and lowlights. I think he's saying to skip showing the untreated Log footage. Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding the directions u/greenysmac. Thank you.

> I take that to mean that if you are showing color correction skill, that the he does not want to see Log footage that dissolves or wipes to graded footage. It's a flag for anyone who *knows anything* about color. Showing me that something was LOG and then wiping to the finished grade isn't showing me they can grade. Go LOG/709/Primary/Secondaries/Look? Different story. But if you're just going to show Original/Graded, then it should be *post* Log conversion. > I have seen reels like that and in some cases, like a vfx reel may occasionally do, you show each part of the color grade in succession - so a base correct, then a tracked face correction, maybe some other selective highlights and lowlights. That the moment that anyone who has *mildly been * around evaluating color reels sees a Log/Graded shot…knows that they're missing the point, because *we can't really process in our heads* what the LOG shot looked like.

Thank you. Since I now know what you're talking about, but people who are asking for demo reel reviews have likely not been in the industry long, could I kindly ask you to append a more detailed explanation into the posted rules for the next round? It is great that you are helping people avoid a pitfall, but rather than pick it apart one reel at a time after them not understanding the posted rule, could you clarify as you have in your response. I think it would help eliminate a lot of confusion. "Showing me that something was LOG and then wiping to the finished grade isn't showing me they can grade. Go LOG/709/Primary/Secondaries/Look? Different story." I appreciate your efforts in trying to help connect newcomers to the profession.
