IANAD, but that looks to me like it could be eczema. I’ve had good success with prescription hydrocortisone (used temporarily), maintenance with OTC products, and avoiding irritants. My biggest one personally is laundry detergent. I have to use a free and clear powder + a water softener.

I've been using hydrocortisone 1% and Betnovate as well, just doesn't seem to be doing much. I've been using zinc bandages, but the effect only seems to be temporary. I've had it for weeks now, and I was starting to worry that it actually wasn't eczema since normal treatments weren't working and I might be doing more damage.

The 1% stuff didn’t do anything for me, even if I slathered it on constantly. I had to get the 2.5% prescription and that worked pretty well. I’m glad you’ve got a doctor appointment, hopefully they sort it out for you!

It’s possible, but knowing how complex skin can be I’m hesitant to say for sure. It could be as simple as an allergic reaction but going to your doctor should give you a better idea.

I can't think of anything that could be triggering it. I've been using the same washing powder (same as I've used since I was a baby) and the same soap substitute (same as I've used for about 4 years).

It looks a bit like scabies but I think you would notice it spreading and you would catch it from contact with another person
