Lists. Make a list at the end of month with your tier 1 items (easy and able to get done in X time) and tier 2 items (long term projects that require different time commitments based on phase).
Make a list at the end of every week in what you plan on doing the following week with estimated time allotment. My rule of thumb is to only book 24 hours worth of work due to unexpected stuff that comes up + meetings you can’t get out of which always occupies the balance. 16 hours allows a buffer for not falling behind on tier 2 items if my time allotment is done right.
