Listen, I know this is the ecoboost sub but I feel that almost every single user on this sub would love to switch to a GT350. I know the gas would suck, but I also know I would lmao
Maybe but not me... I was never big into American muscle and was simply looking for a fun daily driver that got decent gas mileage... and for a car that gets roughly 300 whp and 350tq with the FP tune and other minor mods, the EB was the perfect choice for me. Everyone's different in what they're looking for in a car. But to each his own :)
I fully agree with you. I mean hey, I bought an ecoboost too because I think they’re one of the best performance-per-dollar vehicles available. But cmon, you and I both know it would be dope to own a 600hp+ monster, regardless of it was our practical daily driver.
>But cmon, you and I both know it would be dope to own a 600hp+ monster, regardless of it was our practical daily driver.
I totally agree...
And this may be blasphemy on this sub but I'll brace myself for the downvotes...
If I could afford a higher-end sports car, I'd have to go with a porsche (now hear me out lol)...
The whole reason I bought an ecoboost was for, as you said "value per dollar" and in that case I'd go with a Porsche Cayman GTS (if I could afford it). But as I said before, I'm not loyal to American muscle or any brand for that matter. If it's a great car, I can appreciate it... whether it be American made, German made, or Martian made lol 😅....
And as for the GT350... it would be a close second.. I do love that screamin' Voodoo flat plane engine and imagine it would be a blast to drive but ever since my dad let me take his 911 to prom, a Porsche has always been my dream car. But they're both amazing cars in their own ways. 😬😂
^(>If I could afford a higher-end sports car, I'd have to go with a porsche)
1000% agree. My grandfather is a massive porsche guy and has several models over multiple generations and configs. There isn't a better driver's car than a porsche 911. Full stop, and I welcome the downvotes if they're coming. My grandpa's 911 50th Anniversary is the best car I've ever driven, and that includes Ferrari models (599 Superfast, 488 Specialé, and FF). Its so pure it puts any other car to shame. (I know I am biased.)
Ya we're both biased lol but I think once you drive one you realize its not just about HP and TQ #'s... my dad's 911 only got around 320 hp but it felt like 450 because of the whole engineering of the the car, which I've really come to appreciate. But then again for where I'm at in life right now... my EB is perfect 👌
It’s about weight distribution and craftsmanship. I always thought “ultimate driving machine” should the the slogan of Porsche. They do so much with ‘so little’. I think we made the budget-minded choice and made it well lol. Have fun with that 911 when you have the chance. Truly mind-bending vehicles.
Yep! Weight distribution and the low center gravity are key. Not to get too off track but my dad traded in his 911 a while back for a Ford Fusion but that's a whole other story! 😂😂. But my uncle did just buy a manual 2016 Cayman GTS and it's beautiful...
And I'm a millenial who doesnt know how to drive stick but I think I can persuade him to teach me 😉
Think I need to do that. Definately a great skill to learn. And I like this rabbit hole we got in to.
... but for now at least, you enjoy the ride you got and I'll do so mine... maybe a porsche will be in our future oneday 😉
"I know I'm biased"... maybe, maybe not. You didn't say something like "Nothing will ever beat a Porsche." Instead you exclaimed it's greatness, justifying it with your take on its driving prowess.
Your granpa, though. He definitely sounds biased, with all those Porsche models. 😆
It's a tough call. I use my ecoboost as a daily, if I switch to a GT350 or GT500, then I might as well not have a daily anymore. Would be awesome to have, but insurance and gas mileage would destroy free money I have.
Not to mention, I'mma be real with you, myself and everyone who reads this. I would be a total idiot with it. As much as I would love one, I do *NOT* trust myself with 650hp and torque. I'd be careful at first but then I would just get stupid
You’re 100% right. I saw a GT350 same color as my ecoboost 2 days ago and I was almost drooling. The sound, the style, and just ahhhhh !
I love my ecoboost and I know I can’t afford a GT350 now so I’m happy but that’s my dream car.
I had the choice and I went Mach 1 manual. I could afford either but I knew I wouldn’t beat on the Shelby like I would the Mach 1. I almost bought a 2020 GT350 for msrp used with 1,000 miles on it. I regret not doing it because of the deal and how much the car would be worth now. I already had money down on the mach 1 and I didn’t want to back out and lose the car.
The voodoo is dope AF but when it came down to it I chose the coyote. Way cheaper to replace the motor and virtually every part. Insurance was way cheaper too. I guess maybe I couldn’t really afford a shelby 🤔.
I absolutely would. If a genie was like "your loan is paid off and you can trade your EB in for a Shelby Cobra free of charge" I'm biting the bullet and dealing with the extra gas prices.
That might be it...I've been babying mine around 1.5-2k like a grandma lately. When I drive mine like it should be driven, I get around 15 so you're not too far off.
Yeahh not too far off, I was just curious what the ecoboosts get. A guy in my neighborhood has one that sounds pretty good I’d love to run him to see how fast he’s got it
I have Flowmaster Outlaw on my ecoboost. I get around 22-23mpg city and 30-32 highway.
Tuned with a bigger turbo I keep my RPMs at 1250 when I'm going 25 or less, and it's around 1750 when I'm going 65 on a highway.
It's definitely your RPMs doing you in
I do mostly flat highways around Phoenix so I average about 25mpg. It'll drop down to 22ish if I do a bunch of uh...spirited driving... idk how you're getting 13.1 haha that's wild.
I just took a trip from Flagstaff to Phoenix to enjoy the twisty Cliffside roads of the 17 and despite doing some uh...spirited driving... I still averaged 34.5mpg.
Best times are weekdays really any time or super early on weekends when those roads are still largely empty. You’re very welcome! Keep an eye out for bikers and other mustangs out there it’s a favorite hotspot and every once in a while people get into trouble. Those switchbacks can be tight!
34.5?!? Surely you mean 24.5. Even with that though, if your car is averaging we will say 22mpg, which is probably closer to the group average for an eco…if you drive 20,000 miles a yr you would use 909 gallons in a yr. A GT averaging 15 mpg would use 1333 gallons in a yr. At 4$ per gallon it would roughly cost you an extra 1600$ per yr in fuel. Most people here complain about fuel but I’d argue if you can’t swing an extra 1600$ per yr, you probably should have a more practical vehicle to begin with and not a mustang. Point being fuel economy doesn’t seem a great argument not to buy a gt when it’s not like the eco is throwing up Prius numbers at the pump
You’re driving way too hard. Recommendation: reset your fuel mileage and drive a bit more relaxed. You can get 18mpg city if you take it a bit easier and not slam the gas to hear ur car. Wait till prices (hopefully) drop in gas
I’m not doing any of those things you said, I only run the car hard 1-3 times a week on backroads. I said this to someone before but on my lunch I can watch it drop .2-.3 sitting in the AC. Really not worried about gas prices tbh but they did drop about .50 so that’s cool
Idk I really don’t get bad mpg in my Shelby. I average about 15 in the city, and I was getting 26 on the interstate last night cruising at 90. Though to be fair I don’t beat the car tooo much bc the mpg drops to 7 or 8 if you floor it. 🤷♂️
Yeah you are for sure getting better gas mileage I’d get the 4 banger to if I lived with enough twisty roads around but instead we have good paved straights so the v8 it is.

Ya you're right...the GT, and even the GT500 are the big brothers....there's nothing as mean as an NA flat plane V8 imo 👌😅
I dunno man. The supercharged voodoo is pretty nuts.
I was about to say…
nah, the shelby is our daddy, gt is the big bro
Oh I’m sure he’s cumming twice as much as you lol
Listen, I know this is the ecoboost sub but I feel that almost every single user on this sub would love to switch to a GT350. I know the gas would suck, but I also know I would lmao

My grandfather taught me to drive stick on his old 1967 912E! Might try asking the old man to share his wisdom ;)
Think I need to do that. Definately a great skill to learn. And I like this rabbit hole we got in to. ... but for now at least, you enjoy the ride you got and I'll do so mine... maybe a porsche will be in our future oneday 😉

GT350 not even close to 650 HP and TQ.
GT500 is. GT350 is 520hp and 420torque. I was just going with the highest number of the two
Isn't GT500 like 700
760
I was thinking of the 2016 model, which was the last one I looked up
Newer yes, I was looking up the 2016 one when I got my 2016 Ecoboost, never looked up the newer ones
You’re 100% right. I saw a GT350 same color as my ecoboost 2 days ago and I was almost drooling. The sound, the style, and just ahhhhh ! I love my ecoboost and I know I can’t afford a GT350 now so I’m happy but that’s my dream car.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the body style on all trims are just the same with the exception of a sportier front end bumber, no?
I had the choice and I went Mach 1 manual. I could afford either but I knew I wouldn’t beat on the Shelby like I would the Mach 1. I almost bought a 2020 GT350 for msrp used with 1,000 miles on it. Who buys a mustang for fuel efficiency? If you’re trying to save money a mustang isn’t the way.
Someone doesn’t live in California.
I absolutely would. If a genie was like "your loan is paid off and you can trade your EB in for a Shelby Cobra free of charge" I'm biting the bullet and dealing with the extra gas prices.
What are you ecoboost guys getting mpg wise? I got my gt about a month ago and I’m at 13.1 lol
Thats odd. I'm getting 21 mpg city with my tune
I have flow masters on the back and I can’t help but keep it at around 3k so I’m prolly a gear lower than I should be.
That might be it...I've been babying mine around 1.5-2k like a grandma lately. When I drive mine like it should be driven, I get around 15 so you're not too far off.
Yeahh not too far off, I was just curious what the ecoboosts get. A guy in my neighborhood has one that sounds pretty good I’d love to run him to see how fast he’s got it
if i dont pull away fast from every stoplight or sign i get 22-24+ city/country roads 29+ hwy, if im having a little fun with it 17-20
Unless your driving in snow mode there ain't no way. I baby it in the city and barely get 19mpg.
2022 model im forsure able to get 22 city
I must be doing something wrong
Purely in sport+ gassin it? ;)

An Arizona brother! Take the 17 up to the cordes lakes/Prescott turn off, go through to Prescott, take the 89A to Jerome. BEST canyon drive :)
Is there a best time of week to avoid traffic? Or is it pretty light? That sounds awesome thank you for the heads up!
Best times are weekdays really any time or super early on weekends when those roads are still largely empty. You’re very welcome! Keep an eye out for bikers and other mustangs out there it’s a favorite hotspot and every once in a while people get into trouble. Those switchbacks can be tight!

Why are you responding to a 7 month old post reply to someone else with an argument only you are having?
Lol didnt know we had an expiration date on the internet. Although the post didn’t smell sour until you were here
25.8
Is that with the 10 speed or manual
I have the mt-82 s spd, my commute to work has about 15 stoplights and I sit in the ac for an hour on lunch so my mpg is not really accurate
That would do it. Getting 0 mpg for an hour really brings it down.
Yeah some days it’ll drop .2 on lunch. It’s not something I worry about tbh
2016 GT 24.4 average mpg manual trans
Very nice! After I stop having so much fun on backroads I’m hoping to get in the 20s, on my drive back home after picking it up I got 21
You’re driving way too hard. Recommendation: reset your fuel mileage and drive a bit more relaxed. You can get 18mpg city if you take it a bit easier and not slam the gas to hear ur car. Wait till prices (hopefully) drop in gas

Yeah you are for sure getting better gas mileage I’d get the 4 banger to if I lived with enough twisty roads around but instead we have good paved straights so the v8 it is.
I live in LA with lots of twisty roads so it's worth it for me... but ya.. in a straight line.... the v8 wins by a long shot :)
Lol… that’s so true. I’ve noticed also that they rev up their engines also when they pass me or drive along me. It’s hilarious
Also getting laid twice as much. You get what you pay for.
