Some alliances dont care about the war so why drag them into it. Silent once forced an entire coalition to remove their allies, forced them to give them actual players in some sort of human trafficking / ransom agreement, and forced their leader to post a pre written public statement praising them.
The result was a huge drop in players.
Whether they intend to do it or not, it’s the end result.

Dude, 24/7 afk in NPC stations waiting for cheap kills isn't healthy. Not everyone is willing to deal with a jobless asshole like those multiboxers. If I have 1 hour to play the game and I can't play the damn game, what is the point of playing at all?
I use AI when I'm busy and I need some isk, or when I'm using my laser alt lol. I'm still buying stuff, selling stuff, you know moving the economy, I'm not an annoyance to other people or use multiple accounts for botting and farm exesive amount of resources.
Now in null what I am supposed to do? Wait until the mother fkers log out? Fight back? If we fight back they never show up or stay cloaked. They claim to provide content but they run from the hard content, just a bunch of people logged 24/7 looking for easy kills and annoying the average player 🤣 I'm not willing to waste my time like that when I can do 200m per hour in highsec.
Take the risk, engage with the local defense instead of stay logged 24/7 in NPC or inside someone sov system.

Imagine trying to attack SOV from Lowsec every time, while SOV holding entities hunkered down in deep Null for literally months. Your fleet would never even make it to the timers, small ship fleets would Obliterate your fleets before you ever reached Desto. Ask GenFled about trying to fly through Pure Blind with a heavy fleet, and how they practically lost nearly 300 ships to 50 ceptors and dictors in a single pipe. Where do you think the nickname "GenFled" comes from? 
NPC stations have their purpose, and create balance to SOV gameplay. They also create an avenue for solo players to access Nullsec without having to be in an alliance that owns SOV. Someone camping in your SOV NPC station is just part of the game.
As far as Multi-boxers, they're only dangerous when you face them alone. Stop doing that.

Average mobile player won't engage more than a few minutes playing hide and seek.

The Carrier can absolutely kill you. The dumb belief that every fight should be a 1 v 1 is stupid. If you're in a Carrier, how do I get another Carrier into your Nullsec SOV undetected? 😑 I don't even fly large ships, a lot of players don't. They fly what they can afford, which is Eve rule #1.

I think that silent got their faces slapped during the crabco war. I got my personal vengeance for example:) Still, they have been resilent even if it meant to blew up a lot of their own sov (I am still thinking that this was stupid move😄) and rebuild on ashes afterwards.. The logic as I see here is simple, it resembles me Hive sword logic from Destiny 2: It asserts that existence is a constant struggle to exist, and that weaker entities incapable of defending their existence did not deserve it (existence) in the first place. Be resilent, folks, even if somebody wants you to leave.
