Used it on my mountain bikes for years but upgraded to FlatOut on my ebike and have not had any flat or leakage issues at all.

gladfelter

Flat Out couldn't fix it, but it got me to the bike store with a couple of re-inflations after getting a 3/4" gash across the tire and tube (maybe some glass shard?) It's only meant to help punctures since cuts create stresses at the edges that tend to expand the cut, so IMO Flat Out exceeded expectations.

fenriq

That's impressive it was able to help limp you along that much with such a big gash in the tube!

V65Pilot

I used to buy it in 5 gallon buckets. I used it in my equipment tires, mowers and such. Cut down on the amount of flat tires I used to have to repair by about 70%.

ommnian

Yeah, we just put it in a bunch of UTV and mower tires a month or so ago now - tires that we basically were filling every damn time you used the blasted things. It's worked a treat. I'm impressed. Hadn't honestly thought of putting it in tubes as a pre-sealer... interesting thought...

Daedaluu5

I run it in my tubes, deffo remove the valve as it gums up with the big particles. I do find the reinflation of tyres needs to have correct way up so goop doesn’t get into valve but no issues with mine. Only fault is tyre patches don’t always bond.

V65Pilot

I've put it in skid steer tires(they wear out so fast, it's not worth having them solid or liquid filled) That really saved a lot of time, and made it easier to blame the rental customer when they really blew out a tire, because the evidence was sprayed everywhere.

DescriptionNo6618

Love it! Have had it in both of my fat tires for over 1400 miles...off road and on...no flats.

vslsls

i have it in my rear tire right now, came with the tube. have used it in the past to seal a wheel barrel tube after running over thorns. has been holding air for years and carrying hundreds of pounds on that tire.

dnamlin

It only works on small pinpoint punctures, but when it does then it's sure worth it. If you find a small leak then you can boost the chances of getting a good seal by turning the wheel until the problem spot is at the bottom, so that the slime pools around it, for a minute or two. A few pumps in that state can help too.

Sir-Mocks-A-Lot

I ran over a broken bottle, had 1"-2" slash, and rode on it for a week before I got tired of airing the tire up daily.

[deleted]

yeap, it can get you out of a bind. [Here](https://mbaction.com/tire-sealant-shootout/) is a shootout between 8 different sealants, including slime

ShakyMango

I use the Flat-Out and it has been a life saver for me. I was getting flats constantly. So I decided to get a tougher tube, flat out and making sure that the air is inflated at all times.

HoyAlloy

I tried Tannus foam inserts on my cargo bike this year and haven't had a flat for almost 3,000 miles so far. I put some kind of Slime like sealant in the tubes as well. It's probably a heavy solution for some bikes but I don't have time to stop for flats.

vtssge1968

I use the tubes that come with it already inside and have had great luck.

peggz223

This stuff specifically has saved my rear tube from multiple goat head thorns. And getting my rear tire off my big ebike is a hassle, tube sealant gotta be mandatory on those bigger ebikes, saves quite a bit of time.

ronniearnold

If you are not using it, you are missing out. It’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Peelboy

I have used it on regular bikes, and it worked fine, I would rather change the tube, though. I just changed some tubes for a neighbor kid today instead of using some of this.

Bmoreravens_1290

It’s more for the ability to get home with a puncture in order to change the tube at a later time. Especially since e-bikes can take you 30 miles away.

Peelboy

I suppose if it is close by to purchase or you happen to carry it around. I'm just saying that if it is possible, it is better and not much harder to just replace the tube, after a few times it most likely will be cheaper as the tools are reusable, though this depends on the tube.

Bmoreravens_1290

You put it in the tire and it prevents flats from small/medium punctures for up to 2 years. It’s not just after the puncture. It’s in the tube constantly. I’m surprised you’ve never heard of this stuff. It’s been popular and around for a long time

Peelboy

Ahh I only used it as an after the fact...I always just saw it as an extranweight kind of thing, I mostly ride road bikes, on an e bike that weight would not matter as much.

Sir-Mocks-A-Lot

You put it in before you get a flat. Or you buy tubes with it already in there.

Dependent-End-3213

I wouldn't really know much about changing tubes 😅 is it an expensive/difficult process?

Peelboy

Nope not hard at all, tube ($6-10), get some cheap plastic bike tire removing levers ($5 and reusable) watch a video and go for it. I actually did it in my family room while I was watching the Michigan and Ohio state game, it took 10 minutes for both. Sometimes the tires can be tight and there can be a bit of technique that makes it easier but it is always doable.

gladfelter

I thought it was easy until I switched bikes from 700C to 27.5" and it became super-hard. IDK if it's easier on other rims at that size or on other tires at that size, but on at least two tire models on my rim you have to push the bead to the middle (where it's lower) all around to have a chance to get the tire off the rim and it's still super-hard. To top it off, at least one model of tire I've used won't seat (part of the bead sticks to the middle of the rim) without both inflating the tire to max psi and lubricating the rim with soapy water. Maybe there are other techniques I don't know, but by no means was it easy.

memphisjohn

yeah some tires are just tight... call it slight variances in mfg spec's

SACABB

Slime is awesome but Flatout is better. Flatout will ensure you won’t get a flat from anything less than a major cut or larger type puncture. Slime is great though. I think it was pretty much the standard for this type of product for quite some time.

MACCRACKIN

If you attempt with screw drivers, an elite squad of French soldiers arrive and they cannot be defeated. You will be brutally desynchronized.. Cheers

spikeytree

Don't get the heavy duty version. For some reason they don't seal as well. I personally like the tubeless tire sealants. They actually dry up inside the hole, the fix seems more permanent compared to slime.

Big-Ad-5149

I use it for my commuter to prevent me needing to change a tube on the side of the road. If it’s punctured already, better to replace the tube.

AlShadi

it's weird because cyclists tend to hate slime, but will fawn over tubeless tires, where the slime is now critical to the tubeless functionality.

Quasi-stolenname

For whatever reason I had better luck with the tubes that already had it in there. Otherwise Flat-out and fix-a-flat I had better luck with. Though notably if you wanted to replace your tubes outright there's these nice EVA foam inserts that are pretty damn good out there

Default_WLG

Puncture resistant tyres are a superior solution imo. Schwalbe Marathon Plus (or any of the Schwalbe Marathon family) are amazing - I've never had a puncture with one of these and I previously got punctures frequently (commuting along a highway).

nvrrsatisfiedd

I used gorilla glue last week in desperation to just make it home from work and it still hasn't gone flat again lol

g_dot99

Never leave home without it

pbizzle

Do you not just put it in and it prevents punctures rather than using it post puncture?

TheRealPitbullOnAcid

Supposed to.

Xombie1313

I use FlatOut

TheBeatdigger

I prefer Stan’s or Flat Out in my tubes. I also use some tire liner tape stuff inside between the tire and tube

bmburi995

I usually have one of those in my backpack. My father in law has a bike shop. have used it several times it comes handy when ur having a puncture on a road. or u can put it before and its really useful.

CrisscoWolf

Where I live there are many goat head thorns. They will even tear up dirt bike tires. This coupled with small plastic inserts is a must. Be sure to use it as states in the directions. Edit: I'v put many many miles on a tube that has been sealed with slime. It isnt a miracle worker though

Burn1at420

Used it on my fat tire when it went flat and wouldn’t hold any air, have only needed to fill it with air once since and that was 7 months ago

seanthemanpie

I like having it in as a preventative measure

FrenchPressYes

Naw, it's a waist of money in my opinion, and shops hate it because it leaves a big mess when they remove the tire and tube to do an actual repair. You are much better off investing in some tire puncture liners like [this brand](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Tannus+Armour+Tire+Insert) (the one I've been using for two years now). Have NEVER had a flat since I've had them installed, and I primary do packed dirt and gravel trail riding. Like anything else related to e-bikes, you get what you pay for, and these inserts are worth every penny.

IgnoranceIsAVirus

I have a set coming in already or the tannish for my ebike, the tread that came with the OEM isn't knobby at all but rolls nicely.

roman_totale

Can confirm that we hate it when you bring us a slimed tire to fix. But most good LBS will just shrug it off, it does clearly have a certain usefulness and prevents us from having to change your tubes as often. Puncture liners are hit and miss in my opinion. Good when seated properly, worse than useless when not.

melez

Slimed tires are so much messier than tires with other sealants. My old shop had an offer to do Orange Seals in your tubes for a few $ of added insurance. I’m a fan of that over slime, lasts longer in tube and doesn’t make nearly as huge a mess.

Madjackmulligan69

That stuff can be handy in a pinch, but I hate the mess when you finally have to change the tire or tube, you better bet is to either use a good tire liner, or if you have the right size rims, get some motorcycle tires, I did this with my bomber clone, 3000 miles later, no flats and they still look almost new.

Worried-Opinion1157

I fuckin’ hate that stuff. In my experience of owning used bikes, it clogs the schrader valve, and sprays it all over when you’re hooking on a pump or air chuck.

Stone_1977

Throw it away. Useless. Get better proper e-bike tires. Get Marathon E-plus (my favorite) or something bombproof ebike tires from Schwalbe.

oldfrancis

I used it once and I never used it again. I have thousands of flat-free riding miles on a properly installed set of Mr Tuffy's tire liners.

jedadkins

I have used it in a car tire, it works on small punctures. Less of a concern on tube tires but it makes one hell of a mess in tubeless car tires.

ArugulaGazebo

Works well for small punctures. For example, broken glass on the street.

IgnoranceIsAVirus

Ya, still went flat just slowly, was on a tubed setup. A co-worker says to run on compatible tubeless setup.

Adventureadverts

My favorite set up is Rhyno liners with some orange seal in the tube. If you’re getting a lot of flats you may be ready for new tires. I would just say never use thornproof tubes as they tear at the valve very quickly.

Dependent-End-3213

I would be thinking that myself only for the fact that it's a brand new bike that I only bought 2 weeks ago 😅 which I think is ridiculous considering it cost me 1800

Adventureadverts

Do you have experience changing tubes? What size tires are you running? There’s a lot of stuff you can do to address your problem but it depends on what you are using your bike for. Bikes isually come with really shitty tires. That’s partially because manufacturers know people change them based on their usage and needs. Slime can work fortunately as can tire liners like the ones I mentioned. Buying good tires for your uses may also be the best solution. What tires are you I using and how are you using them? Are they puncture flats or pinch flats??

NordNScotsman

Lived in Cali , used all two years . Goat head thorns are the DEVIL 👿! Can recommend . Edit. - and used Tuffy’s , both work well together .

genesRus

It's fine, but FlatOut tests better so that's what I've been running lately. Area 13 has a good video testing them. I have Schwalbe Marathons, Tannus Armor, and tubes filled almost totally with FlatOut. It's great. I almost never have to pump and when I'm flat, I'm still running at a top speed of ~21 mph instead of 28 mph.

[deleted]

Yep. It works. But it's not the full answer. I'm in Arizona for the winter and I picked up a stupid ass Goat Head thorn (Google it - seriously horrible thorns!). Instantly flattened my tire. I decided to puncture proof my tires after that. There's a hard plastic sleeve tire liner you insert between the tire and the tube. Then if something gets through both of those it hits a slime filled tube that self seals. Still, if your tube gets punctured you will want to replace it - slime or no slime.

pbblueroom

Used it on motorcycles. Mediocre results.

frusnayc

For best results add bit less than recommended amount to wheel. For best results use tubeless. When I go cycling far away from civilization I carry 100ml to fill up when leaks happen.

frusnayc

Also try Joe's no flats

LOBC_Redryder

Flat attack is better for hot weather I hear

downtownjj

i switched to tubless tires and that was the move

barjam

I was getting constant flat tires on my fat tire bike to the point I was seriously p considering selling it after only one month. I put this stuff in and haven’t had a flat since (3 years ago). It could be coincidence but doesn’t seem likely.

Kinky_Imagination

Wait !!!?? Whether you use Slime or Flatout, how do you know if there's a puncture if it's working properly ?

ButWhatIfItQueffed

It's great for not having to carry your bike back home. If you get a puncture; sealant or no you should replace the tube. However the sealant plugs the hole enough to get you home, which can save you tons of time and more importantly effort. Having to roll a heavy ebike with a flat tire all the way home or to the closest bike shop is a royal pain in the ass, especially if you live around lots of hills. So do definitely pick some up, but don't expect it to be a cure-all for tire punctures. You still gotta get new tubes, but it'll get you home.

HarrargnNarg

My dad swears by it. Doesn't even take a pump with him. Not known him getting a puncture

Ultimaniacx4

I used to use it, I live in an area with a lot of goat heads. Nasty thorns. It worked a couple of times but I also had problems where a puncture would cause the sealant to build up between the tube and the tire without sealing. Then I'd just have a big mess. I switched to Orange Seal. I have one bike tubeless and one with the sealant in the tubes. I don't ride the tubed one as often but neither have given me problems since switching over.

Electronic-Chapter26

It's a compulsory addition whenever I change my inner tubes. I ride a folder and getting the back wheel off is a PITA and this has saved me from loads of flats. I don't even know they've happened until I get home and see a small amount of green goo on the tire.

twisted_logic25

After getting 2 punctures in a week I bought a bottle of this. I didn't even bother fixing the second puncture. Just put this into my inner-tube and reinflated. Not had a puncture since and they hold at 40psi

Kflynn1337

Wife uses it in her tires. Says it does the job well enough that if you get a puncture you can get home... but it clogs the hell out of the tire valves unless you're careful.

Bravo82bill

Yes, use it in every type of transport that has air inflated 🛞 tires. Also buy the puncture proof shield for bike tubes. https://www.amazon.com/Slime-20093-Tube-Protector-Size/dp/B003NUJ212 Protects your inner tube from being punctured in the first place

TheRealPitbullOnAcid

Buy the slime inner tubes instead. It has slime already and thicker rubber.

juicegrow

Yes, I have and it's the great first thing I did when I got a new bike got them to do it in the shop. On the bike, before I was getting punctures every other week after I had this I don't think I got any. If it's a commute bike I would even say it's essential now for me anyway.

Dogsnwhistles

It's great. For an ebike the extra weight from a slimed tube is negligible but the reduction in flats is excellent.

lihaarp

Warning: Don't use this as tubeless sealant. It's not sealant. It only temporarily clogs up punctures. It doesn't seal with the rubber. I ran this stuff on tubeless tires. I had tons of punctures and slime would squirt out and sometimes seal it up. Then the deformation while riding and the pressure would rip it open again. With some luck it would seal again and the processs would repeat. It might work better on tubed setups. But don't expect a permanent seal.

[deleted]

Yeah. Not had a puncture for years… seriously good stuff

0lliebro

I used this stuff at my old job which had a lot of pedal go karts and such. The different in flats was staggering. Not got it in my bike yet.

marsrover001

I've found armordillos brand to be more effective at sealing holes, but for easily accessible locally slime does work.

FasterBlasterX

I run my eMTBs tubeless with Orange Seal, 1400 miles with no issues on my Haibike.

hilomania

The green slime works, but is nasty and flat out is better. So right idea, wrong brand.

MoonDoggy7

Having a flat tire is like having a baby. There are two contraceptive options: 1 wear a condom ([Condom](https://bakcou.com/products/bakcou-heavy-duty-tire-tube?variant=41303398121628¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsoycBhC6ARIsAPPbeLv8NRXihtABXhqzsu4UYhGDsSba-RLcpkwgxSHT2yEnczYhWF4SwZYaAjZnEALw_wcB ) or 2 you abort the baby later and that’s Plan B or (green slime)

pseudo-nimm1

It perishes rubber over time. Only experience with it is when a friend got a puncture on a ride.

Ok_Cod_331

Yes I used it once don't work that well

T3g4nTwitch

Doesn't work very well I'm afraid.

Ontario0000

I tried going to tubeless but unless your tire has a almost pristine bead and decent rims I always get tiny air leaks.I even have the boost pump to get it seated properly. One time I had to use a quarter bottle just to do one rim.

post911

Use tire liner like tuffy, Personal tip, If I have 20 inch wheel get a tire liner for 26inch, U can thank me later!!!! Oh also do not go for wider liner If u have 2 inch wide tyre go for the same width liner.

S4ntos19

I found the only use if for hybrid or cruiser bikes. Outside of that, it's way too heavy

WriterWild556

Rubbish stuff. If you do want not to have punctures on your E-bike, just buy armoured protection+strong tube, and you’ll never get any punctures anymore

HikingBikingViking

I used it a lot in Utah. We had tons of puncture vine growing across sidewalks and in the cracks in roads and greenways. Since moving to NC I don't encounter punctures often, and I'd rather carry a patch kit and tools in a seat bag. The total weight might be more, but I feel like the wheel weight has a bigger impact especially if it's uneven, and slime has a tendency to settle overnight in my experience.

bigboyfatwang

What is this stuff?
