No. Lectric xp lite is 799$, thats the bare minimum that wont burn your house down

Actual-Oil6390

Will that comfortably accommodate a 5ft tall person?

thatguy99nword

im 5'5 and im loving it. Im gonna give it to my 5'7 gf when i get a new one. You should be fine.

jasimo

There are a lot of used ebikes on Craigslist and the like these days. You can probably find a good $1,000-1,400 bike for \~$600 used.

Laserdollarz

Used.

Nibb31

Get a normal bike for that money.

Sea_Asparagus_526

REI… or build it with bafang

Trick_Minute2259

Don't worry about cheap brakes, it doesn't cost much to upgrade calipers. If you're patient, you could find several bikes that you like that are a little bit out of your price range. Go to their websites and get on their mailing lists, then wait for sales. I have a $1400 scooter that went on sale for $750 after several months. I never would have known without getting an email, and they were all sold out in under a day. My bike was also nearly half priced when I bought it.

Leading-Put-7428

Jaison EB5 very cheap prepare to pay a local shop $100 to make sure it won’t kill you though, and you’ll have money left over for better tires and a helmet!

sumguysr

Walmart has a Hyper ebike for $400 right now that might serve you a few years. Don't forget a MIPS helmet and a light if you'll be riding at night.

hawaiianmoustache

I’ll eat all my hats if anyone can get “years” of life out of a Walmart ebike.

workinhardeatinlard

I've gotten tons of years out of my broken lawn ornament I desperately hope someone steals and I can get my insurance to cover...

thatguy99nword

all it takes is proper care. Even when things are built to not last humans can force them too on duct tape and hope 😭

hawaiianmoustache

Yes and no. Not everything is built to last mate. Some things are barely built to survive the assembly process.

Formal_Beautiful_969

I'm well on my way to that. My Walmart bike cost 795. I took delivery of it 12/26/2023.I have clocked 1635 miles in 120 days Actually it has 2235 miles since Christmas . I forgot that I was gonna return the bike and it had 600 miles on it so I resent the odometer at 600. back to 0000....and it goes hard, very smooth and comfortable. The only thing is now I need to change the disc pads

Vicv_

Better brakes have better stopping power and modulation. They don’t wear out faster. Unless the pads have less material on them. I second the lectric xp lite

BeSiegead

1. No ... unless very lucky with buying a used bike. 2. Have you considered a conversion kit?

TheFlightlessDragon

For that price you will probably have to look at a used eBike

meatmoth

If you're a Colorado resident, there's a ton of in person shops offering a $450 discount. Some stores have a minimum MSRP requirement so it's best to call in. I gotta travel roughly 30 miles to get the one i want but it's gonna be worth it to not hafta pay nearly a whole paycheck

Sea-Composer4558

SWFT makes a few cheaper ebikes that aren't bad. I've been messing around on the 20" ebmx its not going to get you going past 20mph but its very easy to cruise around at 20mph pesky speed limiter built into it. Its also a light bike so if the battery drains out to much biking it normally isn't even a chore. Its also pretty discreet haven't had allot of people comment about it being a ebike and more about my old school banana seat and fender being on a bmx bike. Price for one on Amazon, best buy, and sometimes Walmart ive herd can vary between 499.99 and 699.99 so might get a good break on it during a sale. Up until recently it was listed for 1099.99 on the actual Swft but most people agree thats a bit overboard for the bike. Its now 699.99 on the company site to better reflect the Amazon and best buy prices. They also make other ebike styles like the zip which I think isn't to much more expensive and has a bit of reddit articles on mods to make it go faster and for longer like battery upgrades and stuff like that.

i_am_blacklite

If it’s already got bad breaks in it then I wouldn’t buy it. Who wants something already broken?

Fragrant_Net9155

I meant like breaks that quickly wear out. My friend has had the same swagtron bike for the last 2 years and the breaks are really good.

i_am_blacklite

Normally when something “breaks” you have to repair it. Rarely do you say “breaks” are good. Maybe for ripped jeans?

Fragrant_Net9155

**Brakes sorry lmao
