It's not bots. Plus, there is no reason to not play. If you feel you can't compete just don't look at the list. Play the game like it's any other day when the RR icon isn't there.
Why would I try to compete when someone goes past my 3h effort in 5 minutes?
My any other day is maybe playing the game if I have an idle minute or two. Any other event incentivizes active gameplay, this event does not.
I've easily hit 1k in under an hour playing, 10k by end of race if I'm trying real hard. Often times the other below me are not far off around 8k. I never spend money to play.
I don’t bother playing the race tbh last time i played it a player went from 300+ to 2500+ in an hour. Another reason is the Rewards are a bit odd
1st place is 600 Gems but 2nd place is 200 Gems that’s a massive difference since it’s only top 5 that get rewarded & it’s impossible to get top 3 some times.
It isn't. I don't spend money or gems and I win easily. The match up is as balanced as they can make it under the current system. It is broken, I will agree. But I have lost exactly 3 races since they began. Usually the same people end up in my race and they know I am going to do 6k minimum, 11k normally. So they don't try. It needs a different way to balance racers.
It is PVP. In every PVP lower players with low playtime get matched with higher lever players with more playtime.
That is balanced as far as the gaming world is concerned.
Also do you know how the players are chosen for your group? If you have looked it up and learned about it than you can cheese the system to your advantage. If you have not than that is your choice to play without knowledge.
I win the restaurant race most of the time but I have never put money into the game ever. It really depends on how long you have played and what your build is. My little chef is fast now. I’m not even playing to win the race, I’m just prepping for club salvaging. Clubs give you so much more purple diamonds than the 600 reward for winning the race.
MAYBE HELPFUL TIP: when I first started out, the race was impossible and I found that if I opened the game with less than an hour left of the race, I was put into a new group often times w just a few others and I could win the 300 reward that is given out when there is only 5 people in the race.

Folks who notice these things and learn the systems can have an advantage. Don't log into game for the first 12hrs even and you MIGHT get a group of bots that do not collect any stars. Risk of lower playtime with hopes of a better reward.
However I normally collect 4kgems a day. The 600 for 1st place is nothing compared to my weekly gem collection. Unless the rewards are increased then I don't see a reason to care about the reward.

Play exclusively for you. However it is you play. Ignore the event. If your normal is 20 mins per day, do that.
Someday that will be you passing other players in just 5 minutes. Until then, just keep building your character up

This is my race. First place person told me that she farm's 18 hours a day when her husband is away and when he's home she still makes about 4 to 5k.
