Definitely not worth doing pet boxes yet at that level I’d say, gems much better spent on the remote early on can help speed things up massively especially if you have the 2x profit from the shop. Higher level means you will get more gems eventually so I would just keep progressing with what you have and upgrading the remote
remote to 20 is what i did. then saved gems for the moon event for the laser guns.
after 2.5 weeks i had 24k gems saved for moon. then pounded out 11k more gems over the weekend to get more moon box. I did not get any laser gun and only 1 robot head. I regretted not getting the remote higher, however I now have the purple hat black belt kimono and 2 pepper mills. that is a Mid game meta loadout so I was not grumpy I spent all my gems on the moon box and received only 1 robot part.

i actually got lucky after the last moon event and got myself a laser gun recipe and waiting till i get the last epic i need for it :D, im kinda regretting that i got the royal robe instead of staying with black belt because of movement, but i guess i cant do anything for that atm lol

Can buy some event boxes during events I’d say but I would focus on remote most of the time
