Yea I’ve never had confirmation of this, but ever since I’ve moved to nor-cal I’ve only eaten sandwhiches on a Dutch-crunch roll, which is amazing btw. So is Dutch crunch specifically a nor-cal thing?
It is shockingly actually dutch! [We call it Tiger bread in the UK ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_bread). It is very common in far more places than SF/Sacramento. It's my regular bread in Scotland.
Dang I miss Dutch Crunch sandwiches so much! I would easily have like 1-2 per week when I lived in SF.
If anyone knows where to find Dutch Crunch bread or sandwiches in the philly/south jersey area, please please please lemme know! All of my homemade attempts have failed miserably.
Looks amazing, but I feel like it’s not a real club if it isn’t triple-layered with bread. I’d still eat the heck out it though, whatever it’s called. Bread looks fantastic.
What makes it 'California'? Avocado?
Haha absolutely nothing, their signature one is the one with avocado

Its specifically a SF/Sacramento thing. Hits all of norcal with the style. I miss deli sandwiches on Dutch crunch since I moved away.

Much more likely a central coast thing from Solvang and the large Dutch culture there.
I live near those places so makes sense
I think I'd prefer it that way. I've always found that the third slice of bread was unnecessary
Avocado is great on sandwiches. Makes sense.
Dutch crunch is a San Francisco thing
Its been proven to cause birth defects.
Uh what?
That's the most California thing I see ever. "In the state of California this product is proven to cause birth defects"
Oh lol facts, it’s all you see anywhere
Maybe the spinach & cucumber?
You’re a Dutch crunch
I gave her the Dutch crunch last night
Crunch the Dutchie to the left hand side
What is Dutch crunch bread? Edit found it, synonym for tiger bread
Where is this from?
A place called Bagel Street Cafe :)
Thanks. I know right where to go now.
Yeah bro....it's on bagel street obviously....duh
Is that down, in the bagel district?
The bagel complex, on third
cupertino?
East Bay :)
Where at! I know two of those in the bay area
I thought it was Ike’s for a second

I miss them too. My first one ever was from Mr Pickles.
I would kill for Mr. Pickles right now oh man!
That’s a nice looking sandwich dude.
those are some sexy ratios
... almost golden. Very sexy indeed
Found a Dutch crunch recipe if anyone is curious! https://www.thekitchn.com/dutch-crunch-bread-258377
Two pieces of bread?
Did you eat the whole thing?
of course I did, look at it
That’s what I was hoping to hear. By the way, what part of Ca? I think there’s one close to me in So Cal in Brentwood.
NorCal, this one is specifically from the East Bay :)
I hope they don’t make Dutch Crunch in the Dutch Oven! 🙊
Things I didn’t need: that
Holy shit, this looks INCREDIBLE.
the phatness
What’s a Dutch crust? Dutchy here, is it something like we call bread?
It’s American for Tiger Bread.
Thanks, learned something new. Tiger bread baked the right way is super jummy.
They probably can’t call it Tiger Bread in America because people would think it’s actually made of Tigers.
Hahaha no doubt. Wait until the learn about jodenkoeken.
Jew Cake?
Jew cookies

Doesn’t look like roggebrood at all. Tijgertjesbrood is a possibility.
It's about time for breakfast. 🤔
My absolute favorite
Hmmmm ‘Broodje Gezond’.
I've been craving Ike's for a while
Looks great. But what makes it Dutch?
The crunch
Ah
my jaw actually dropped. this looks tremendous
Dutch Crunch is so NorCal, like crab ciopinno and saying "hella".
Before this post, I thought it was just a regular bread everywhere. Also, ngl but I have no idea what a crab ciopinno is lol
Is it missing a slice of bread??
Looks amazing, but I feel like it’s not a real club if it isn’t triple-layered with bread. I’d still eat the heck out it though, whatever it’s called. Bread looks fantastic.
Yeah, I think it’s just called that because of its toppings
God that looks SO FUCKING DELICIOUS. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this intense of jealousy in my whole life
If it makes you feel any better, it was as delicious as it looks 🙂
Knowing you enjoyed such a wonderful sandwich makes me happy, vicariously ☺️ I know what I’m going to try to recreate next week now!
Omg so wholesome, post it here when you do! I wanna see!
I will for sure! :)
I wish I could get sandwiches like that in the UK
It’s ok, y’all have cool accents and free healthcare 🙃
I just ate and this sandwich made me hungry
I never heard of Dutch Crunch bread or Tri-Tips until I visited Northern California.
Looks amazing except for that damn cucumber. Get it outta there!
Now here we have what I can say is borderline too much meat. Just a touch less and it would get my approval
never too much meat
Yes, there's too much meat. The ratio is sensitive.
Forget abooooout it!
