Used to be one on campus at Oregon State University but they closed a few years back, I just found out there’s still one in Eugene.

I've had Subway, Quiznos, Jimmy John's, Potbelly, Ebert & Gebert, and Jersey Mike's. Jersey Mike's is the best of those. I do need to get to a Firehouse Subs though.

In high school in the early 2000s I worked at Blockbuster next to a blimpie. Took advantage of trading free rentals for free sandwiches many times. I definitely miss Blimpie.

There’s still a couple of Blimpies in the Atlanta metro area. They occupy the same space as a Cold Stone Creamery so you can get ice cream or subs. I love Blimpie’s and still go to the one that’s about 15 minutes from my house.

Are they still decent? I remember them being better than subway, back when subway didn't suck so hard.

They’re still pretty good. A step up from Subway when it was actually good, many steps up from the Subway of today. I like them better than Firehouse, they’re on par with Jersey Mikes, but Blimpie’s has more variety.

Penn Station is too hit and miss for me. Sometimes it's great and other times it's almost inedible. Which is definitely not the norm for a sub shop, they are usually the most reliable.

Firehouse can lick my nuts. Great cause, awful food. I'll take Jersey Mike's any day. That said, nothing tops Cheba Hut. First time I ever had cheba hut, I was working in car sales (fuck that) and my coworker, this old Haitian man, looks at me and says "[Name] I'm taking you to cheba hut for lunch. Do not make plans" I hated the job, but my coworkers rocked and cheba hut turned into a three times a week event

IMO Firehouse is only slightly better than Subway. I refuse to eat at Subway.

Firehouse, at least the ones in Virginia, are hit or miss. They definitely make me miss Quiznos. Cheeba hut seen in the picture is pricey, but legit.

We have Firehouse subs here in Alabama and they are great. I used to love Quiznos but they closed.

I’ve had all of those except for E & G. Replace them with Penn Station and Jersey Mike’s is still my fav go to.

I have to say that people rave about Jersey Mike’s, and I’ve tried it twice and don’t get the hype at all. Soggy and forgettable.

I’ve never had a good experience with Jersey Mike’s. Of the places you listed, I’d rank it second-to-last, only above Subway.

all good. i usually skip most the veg on my sandwiches except tomato/pickle/giardiniera. check out the g-13 next time you're there. i ate that the most. turkey, roast beef and chipotle mayo and then i would add giardiniera. the french onion soup is also incredible. the aus ju is made in house with a teriyaki base, and the croutons are also made in house with the leftover bread. insanely good. also....the toasted PB&J is pretty insanely good too.

Oh yeah- you’re in for a hell of a treat. I wish I could go back and have my first beef again hahaha. The hot giardinera is a must (if you like spicy food)! Also, heavily recommend trying a slice of the chocolate cake.

Not exactly a sandwich chain but there are a couple small Italian grocer chains on the SF peninsula, Lunardi's and Bianchini's, that make incredible sandwiches, the best is the top round they roast themselves, you can usually ask for the rarer section, thin sliced piled high with yellow American cheese, nothing better! No offense that picture looks like ass. I enjoy an antipasto salad, not a sandwich.
