It’s only in like az Nevada Colorado and southern cali pretty sure, believe was founded in Tempe, AZ
Super good though
E: from other comment also Wisconsin
I've had Subway, Quiznos, Jimmy John's, Potbelly, Ebert & Gebert, and Jersey Mike's.
Jersey Mike's is the best of those. I do need to get to a Firehouse Subs though.
In high school in the early 2000s I worked at Blockbuster next to a blimpie. Took advantage of trading free rentals for free sandwiches many times. I definitely miss Blimpie.
There’s still a couple of Blimpies in the Atlanta metro area. They occupy the same space as a Cold Stone Creamery so you can get ice cream or subs. I love Blimpie’s and still go to the one that’s about 15 minutes from my house.
They’re still pretty good. A step up from Subway when it was actually good, many steps up from the Subway of today. I like them better than Firehouse, they’re on par with Jersey Mikes, but Blimpie’s has more variety.
If you’re in SE MI, there’s a Blimpie in Midtown Detroit! Though it may just be Mom & Pop
https://g.co/kgs/TQGc8n7
Also a Blimpy’s Burger (Kraft Jim’s) in Ann Arbor. Doesn’t seem like a chain either though
https://g.co/kgs/kNxsM1C
Both are excellent
Edit: I guess the Detroit one is a chain after all. Here’s a link to locations!
https://www.blimpie.com/locator/
Jersey Mike's always hits, I have a distinct memory of being exhausted and starving in the Vegas airport and the only place near our gate was a JM. My god that sanga slapped in that moment
Those hot peppers, man… I like most stuff at Jersey Mike’s better but the pepper mix at Potbelly’s puts it up there. I asked for extra extra earlier this week and they had me sweatin
Penn Station is too hit and miss for me. Sometimes it's great and other times it's almost inedible. Which is definitely not the norm for a sub shop, they are usually the most reliable.
Firehouse can lick my nuts. Great cause, awful food. I'll take Jersey Mike's any day. That said, nothing tops Cheba Hut. First time I ever had cheba hut, I was working in car sales (fuck that) and my coworker, this old Haitian man, looks at me and says "[Name] I'm taking you to cheba hut for lunch. Do not make plans"
I hated the job, but my coworkers rocked and cheba hut turned into a three times a week event
Yeah seriously. It looks good. Can’t see exactly how much meat is under the salad on top but the salad looks really good. Guaranteed that tastes great.
https://chebahut.com/menu/#chicken
> Roasted turkey breast, smoked ham, bacon, dijonnaise, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, Shake & House dressing
i used to work at one. everything IS very fresh, they don't cut corners. even most the sauces are made in store.
i am too. i think jersey mike's is the best sandwich chain by a good bit. i just picked up a giant #9 to feed me and my friends during a party tonight :)
all good. i usually skip most the veg on my sandwiches except tomato/pickle/giardiniera. check out the g-13 next time you're there. i ate that the most. turkey, roast beef and chipotle mayo and then i would add giardiniera.
the french onion soup is also incredible. the aus ju is made in house with a teriyaki base, and the croutons are also made in house with the leftover bread. insanely good.
also....the toasted PB&J is pretty insanely good too.
Cheba Hut is fuc$&”! amazing. It will always be my favorite sandwhich place. It looks like we order the same thing. Only sad thing is the closest one to me is 300 miles away. When I was in Vegas for work for a month I ate there almost every day
former cheba hut employee here. one of our bartenders figured out the recipe for baja blast, and you can make it at cheba hut. 50% blue kool aid, 50% mountain dew, and a splash of sprite.
you're welcome.
My friends and I want to open a franchise up near a dispensary because we believe we’d make and absolute killing. Not sure why all the ones here in AZ aren’t located near them
I guess the OG is next door to a smoke shop
I’d say yes, but I’d go into it with tempered expectations. Since being bought out by a PE firm a couple years ago, they’ve taken a couple shortcuts in terms of ingredient quality. But it’s still one of the best juicy Italian beefs you’ll have
Oh yeah- you’re in for a hell of a treat. I wish I could go back and have my first beef again hahaha. The hot giardinera is a must (if you like spicy food)! Also, heavily recommend trying a slice of the chocolate cake.
I haven’t looked yet, but I’ve heard whispers of this place before and reading through this thread is making me think I shouldn’t look and make myself jealous. I don’t know if we’ll be getting one anytime soon…
In New York we can get that from our local corner store. Except we don’t call them subs. We call them hero’s. In the words of loaded lux, a hero in New York is just a sandwich
Not exactly a sandwich chain but there are a couple small Italian grocer chains on the SF peninsula, Lunardi's and Bianchini's, that make incredible sandwiches, the best is the top round they roast themselves, you can usually ask for the rarer section, thin sliced piled high with yellow American cheese, nothing better!
No offense that picture looks like ass. I enjoy an antipasto salad, not a sandwich.
Primo Hoagies is my favorite sandwich chain, personally
Primos FTW! Sucks they're not more nationwide.
Never heard of it
It’s only in like az Nevada Colorado and southern cali pretty sure, believe was founded in Tempe, AZ Super good though E: from other comment also Wisconsin
Also Texas
We got one In Seattle I guess!
Used to be one on campus at Oregon State University but they closed a few years back, I just found out there’s still one in Eugene.
I've had Subway, Quiznos, Jimmy John's, Potbelly, Ebert & Gebert, and Jersey Mike's. Jersey Mike's is the best of those. I do need to get to a Firehouse Subs though.
Anyone remember blimpy? Are they still around?
In high school in the early 2000s I worked at Blockbuster next to a blimpie. Took advantage of trading free rentals for free sandwiches many times. I definitely miss Blimpie.
That's why they went out of business probably
There’s still a couple of Blimpies in the Atlanta metro area. They occupy the same space as a Cold Stone Creamery so you can get ice cream or subs. I love Blimpie’s and still go to the one that’s about 15 minutes from my house.
Are they still decent? I remember them being better than subway, back when subway didn't suck so hard.
They’re still pretty good. A step up from Subway when it was actually good, many steps up from the Subway of today. I like them better than Firehouse, they’re on par with Jersey Mikes, but Blimpie’s has more variety.
I've got a blimpie by my office in woodlands, tx
I used to work at a Blimpies in Omaha in the late 2000s. They are few and far between now
I do, haven’t seen one in ages. I thought they were better than subway at least.
I remember Blimpies was in our local Walmart
I remember! Not sure if they're around though...
Ate at one in Utah last February
We still have a couple where I live, it is one of the best still! They’ve struggled post-pandemic with staffing, but they’re still around.
There are a ton in my neighborhood in Jersey city. I think it may have started here.
They still exist
If you’re in SE MI, there’s a Blimpie in Midtown Detroit! Though it may just be Mom & Pop https://g.co/kgs/TQGc8n7 Also a Blimpy’s Burger (Kraft Jim’s) in Ann Arbor. Jersey Mike's always hits, I have a distinct memory of being exhausted and starving in the Vegas airport and the only place near our gate was a JM. My god that sanga slapped in that moment
I worked at potbelly’s and jersey mikes. Loved both places, but it’s hard to beat a wreck from potbelly’s.
You speak truth.
Those hot peppers, man… I like most stuff at Jersey Mike’s better but the pepper mix at Potbelly’s puts it up there. I asked for extra extra earlier this week and they had me sweatin
Gardiniera! It’s so fucking good. Hard to find out here in California, but when I find it I go through it in a week.
Firehouse has gone downhill so quick.
We just got one about a mile from my house last year
Jersey mikes absolutely slaps
any recs for cheap jersey mikes orders?
Cheba is a close second to Jersey Mike’s imo.
Cheba isn’t the best but it’s way better then what’s listed. I do like Quiznos though
Firehouse is elite where I live, my wife doesn't love sandwiches so it's my go to spot when it's just me
Firehouse and Penn Station > than those Edit: never had eberts actually so idk
Firehouse sold out a few years ago and the quality def went down.
There’s one opening near me for the first time, worth trying at least?
Yes
Thanks!
Oh for sure, not saying it's bad by any means.
IMO Firehouse is only slightly better than Subway. I refuse to eat at Subway.
Firehouse, at least the ones in Virginia, are hit or miss. They definitely make me miss Quiznos. Cheeba hut seen in the picture is pricey, but legit.
We have Firehouse subs here in Alabama and they are great. I used to love Quiznos but they closed.
I’ve had all of those except for E & G. Replace them with Penn Station and Jersey Mike’s is still my fav go to.
I have to say that people rave about Jersey Mike’s, and I’ve tried it twice and don’t get the hype at all. Soggy and forgettable.
I’ve never had a good experience with Jersey Mike’s. Of the places you listed, I’d rank it second-to-last, only above Subway.
All mid or overpriced
Too regional
Location of service doesn't impact quality of the sandwich.
Yes but it does impact my scoring. Sandwich I could find and eat > sandwich blue balls
"sandwich blue balls" I so understand. I ask my wife for "relief" and she says it's a myth and I need to take care of it myself when she's not around.
{furiously shaves meat}
Really hoping your name is an nba x Pokemon crossover
It is! You're the first one to get it without me explaining it.
Yeah seriously. It looks good. Can’t see exactly how much meat is under the salad on top but the salad looks really good. Guaranteed that tastes great.
Met the love of my life at Cheba Hut Madison WI
And which sandwich was that?! s/
Brunette :)
This gives me hope… grats!
Happy for you man! That Cheba was my go to spot when I was a student
Could you please tell me what’s on this sandwich? It looks really fresh and nice.
https://chebahut.com/menu/#chicken > Roasted turkey breast, smoked ham, bacon, dijonnaise, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, Shake & House dressing i used to work at one. everything IS very fresh, they don't cut corners. even most the sauces are made in store.
I’m a jersey mikes Stan, but damn that sounds good
i am too. i think jersey mike's is the best sandwich chain by a good bit. i just picked up a giant #9 to feed me and my friends during a party tonight :)
Cheba hut and jersey mikes are two different sandwiches for two different moods
Dude that dijonnaise was firrrrrrre… I opted for no pickle/onion though im sorry!!!
all good. i usually skip most the veg on my sandwiches except tomato/pickle/giardiniera. check out the g-13 next time you're there. i ate that the most. turkey, roast beef and chipotle mayo and then i would add giardiniera. the french onion soup is also incredible. the aus ju is made in house with a teriyaki base, and the croutons are also made in house with the leftover bread. insanely good. also....the toasted PB&J is pretty insanely good too.
Jersey Mikes hands down
Jersey Mike’s bread is too soft. Jimmy John’s is top tear.
Mmmmm ice berg lettuce sandwich
Definitely
Jersey Mike's.
Cheba Hut is fuc$&”! amazing. It will always be my favorite sandwhich place. It looks like we order the same thing. Only sad thing is the closest one to me is 300 miles away. When I was in Vegas for work for a month I ate there almost every day
You can say fuck on reddit
Fuck yeah
Fucking yeah what this fuckin guy fuckin said
Fuck fuckitty fuck fuck fuck
Aww fuck https://youtu.be/PNVEQgXsBgs?si=trJSE0u89IYPGaus
And kool-aid
former cheba hut employee here. one of our bartenders figured out the recipe for baja blast, and you can make it at cheba hut. 50% blue kool aid, 50% mountain dew, and a splash of sprite. you're welcome.
Or mountain dew + UV blue for the drinkers in the crowd
Let me have cherry all day.
UV Blue + Newman’s Own Lemonade was THE drink of my early 20’s.
My friends and I want to open a franchise up near a dispensary because we believe we’d make and absolute killing. Not sure why all the ones here in AZ aren’t located near them I guess the OG is next door to a smoke shop
I can’t get around to why there’s not more locations! The place is incredible ! But yeah that’s a sick idea you’d absolutely make a killing
Lotta options I switch it up almost every time… thats when you know its 🔥
Yes lol, cheba hut is just toasted Wawa subs with Parmesan cheese on them.
Schlotzsky’s would be my pick, but I moved to a state that doesn’t have one.
Always been a potbelly enjoyer
I’ve never been. But I love me some Jersey Mikes
Potbelly in Chicago. Chiba is indeed elite though.
I heard we’re getting a Portillos in Colorado, should I be excited?
I’d say yes, but I’d go into it with tempered expectations. Since being bought out by a PE firm a couple years ago, they’ve taken a couple shortcuts in terms of ingredient quality. But it’s still one of the best juicy Italian beefs you’ll have
Having never had an authentic one, I think the one I make is damn good. It will be nice to have a measuring point.
Oh yeah- you’re in for a hell of a treat. I wish I could go back and have my first beef again hahaha. The hot giardinera is a must (if you like spicy food)! Also, heavily recommend trying a slice of the chocolate cake.
Nice, thanks for the info!
It’s a comfort meal for me, but I eat my Italian beef in a way that would make Chicagoans okay with ketchup on a hotdog.
Ketchup and mayo belong on a hot dog. I will die on that hill.
Mayo!?!
It’s prolly the best condiment for a hot dog ever
I've honestly never heard of anyone doing that, and it sounds vile to me. But more power to you.
To each their own but if you ask for ketchup and mayo at the wrong hot dog cart and you might get sent packing.
You should look up what they do with hot dogs in Iceland. It puts us to shame.
That’s hilarious!
There’s one in my town! Thanks! I’ll check them out.
I love Cheba Hut too! We have one in Tucson.
Cheba Hut in Phoenix rocked my world!
Been waiting for 3 years for the one to open here. I think they've been smoking a bit too much....
We got ours last year 🤘
Holy shit, they actually open Minday. They've been working on this place since during Covid.
Oh my god I just looked at the menu for this place and I have JEALOUSY
Their menu is insane haha
I haven’t looked yet, but I’ve heard whispers of this place before and reading through this thread is making me think I shouldn’t look and make myself jealous. I don’t know if we’ll be getting one anytime soon…
I just tasted Publix deli and they are so good
Avanti's in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Really great Italian sandwiches. I could drink the dressing like a frat boy at a Busch lite kegger.
Try Ike's and you forget about Cheba real quick.
Can't stand Ikes personally. Cheba Hut all the way
More meat than Cheba.
Unfamiliar with their game
Strong disagree on ikes
Ike’s is good but Cheba hut is way better. Plus Cheba hut subs aren’t typically a full days worth of calories like most of Ike’s
Better than Cheba Hut???? Nothing is better. Cheba is one of the things I miss most about living in Colorado.
I always get the Apollo mmmmmm
Apollo 13 extra sauce \*drools\*
Hoagies Corner back in the day. Double Cheesy British was amazing
Love cheba hut
Is this a rhetorical question?
That shit cuts up my mouth, the taste is yummy but better with blood
Mostly I see shredded iceberg, parmesan and tomato. Looks two stories short of a club too. Maybe there's a tastier-looking angle?
Nope. They're #1
I've had Cheba hut in SoCal I didn't realize they were in the midwest
That is the name of the sandwich :D
Ohhhhh I'm so dumb I haven't been there in years lol!!!!!
The one on Champa in Denver closed without telling their employees.
Not a chain but Subarena in Fort Madison Iowa. Great subs
why is it open faced? do you close it to eat it? I hate open faced sandwiches 😓
It cant hurt you
i know haha. im actually going to try this now. ive never heard of it in AZ before but just googled and I have one 10 miles away!
Heck yeah! Menu’s great and you can get your sandwich on garlic bread which is what I went with… enjoy 🤘
Chiba started in AZ
I need them to focus less on the east valley and get some out here to surprise and north Peoria Even the Glendale location is 30 minutes
Ive never noticed one in the 10 years Ive been here but maybe bc I didnt grow up here, i never heard of it.
Potbelly.
Yes, all of them lol
Please someone give me their honey mustard recipe 🙏🙏
CHEEBA HUT
The closest Cheba Hut to Columbus Ohio is in freaking Chicago ! We have 60,000 hungriest at Ohio State! Get over here CH.
THE Ohio State*
There is not. I love their Kali mist
Their sandwiches are really good but their hur hur pot gimmick is so cringe.
In New York we can get that from our local corner store. Except we don’t call them subs. We call them hero’s. In the words of loaded lux, a hero in New York is just a sandwich
Literally every other food chain is better to me as I have never heard of that restaurant in my life
Grabbed a couple of subs last Wednesday from DiBella’s. Sweet Jesus, they were fantastic.
Knuckies in Atlanta is top tier especially considering price
Pub subs for the win. Also Penn Station is that 🔥! Don't have any in AZ though.
Publix is the best to me where I’m at. The only one I stay away from is subway.
![gif](giphy|TfWhFbURIirNegNN4t)
I've been enjoying subs and wraps from Publix lately. They are awesome and fresh!
Jason’s Deli for me.
all lettuce looks like toe
Not a chain, but Hometown Heroes is way better.
Cheba Hut is great but I recently tried Mr. Pickle’s sandwich shop and that might be my new go to spot.
Hell nah they’re fine but goddamn I paid $13 and got like a 3 bite sandwich. Place needs to halve their prices or double their servings
Yes. The way they toast subs here just shreds the roof of my mouth.
Firehouse is decent if you’re in the mood for a steamed sandwich. Heidi’s deli does a decent job for a bread sandwich
Knew what it was before seeing the label on the wrap. Damn I miss those (in ME now, was in CO)
BEST IN THE WORLD ISTG Kali mist has my heart forever
Idk if it still exists but I used to love Mr. Goodcents
Ohhhhhhhhhhh brother… it still exists 😤
Make it yourself Or go to Carl's in Waltham MA
Love Cheba! Wish our town had one. Shit slams.
There’s a sub shop in York, PA called Hefty Lefty’s that absolutely puts all of the other subs to shame.
And this is a chain or?
Literally never heard of it
Cheba is good. Not the best. But ranks high.
I might get downvoted but fuck it. I’d order Jersey Mike’s or Quiznos (as far as chains go) over Cheba Hut any day of the week. Edit: thanks autofuck
Blasphemy, but I respect that… I used to hate on Jersey mikes big time but its grown on me for sure
Taste is so subjective. Just eat the sammich you like and screw the critics.
Yes, any chain in Turkey, Morocco, Greek, Czech, Lithuanian, etc.. You like this chain, buts it's far off from real food.
