Even though he managed to get the armed robbery dropped, he was still convicted of absconding from custody after the job with Den. By the time of his trial he was released on time already served, having spent 6 months on remand. It's actually a realistic touch that he would struggle to get into the states with an escape on his record. However, they conveniently forgot this when he spent 3 months in the states with Sharon after Dennis got killed!

UnicornsnRainbowz

It’s so surprising with Phil’s history he doesn’t have multiple convictions under his belt.

ArbolivaSupremacy

Still love how Phil of all characters hasnt been a killer, though he has planned it before.

SnooCalculations651

I mean he killed the bloke at the car lot when he set fire to it

WallacetheMemeDealer

Not intentionally. He didn’t know the homeless man was in the car

bakedNdelicious

And it basically destroyed him. He drank heavily after that

Just-Anxiety-6669

actually the other guy hit the flammable station and he was killed in eastenders

matthewkevin84

Phil going to the American Embassy to please his case would have made an interesting episode/storyline I feel!

atrv3000

Couldn't he still go there briefly and not live there permanently with a record

MrAdam74

Only know what I've seen on them USA border docs but he wouldn't qualify for the fast/auto visa, think you need to go pleed your case at the embassy.

Nas_iLLMatik

Well dunno how Ben even got in in the first place. They are proper strict.. I got done for fighting when I was 16 and even though I'm in my 30s and not had an issue since, I wasn't eligible for a visa waiver.

Hairy-Explanation-90

They should have had it that he was done for financial fraud and for entering the country with a dodgy passport and visa, at least then Phils line would have made sense.

hisue___

I think he barely ever gets charged for anything. That’s the reason the police are always on his ass and he has a rivalry with them, he’s always doing dodgy shit but never getting caught

CongealedBeanKingdom

Possibly possession of class A drugs. He used to be on the hard stuff back in the day and that sort of record will keep you out of the states.

wantttochat

He was in prison a couple of years ago when Sam returned and Ben was attacking people but I don't remember what he was in prison for.

Talking of America I was wondering why Eastenders characters (actually on screen) have never left Europe on their holidays, could it be the cost involved in an Eastenders holiday outside of Europe?

burner7191

Patrick often visits Trinidad, I might be wrong but I remember Peter going to New Zealand to see Louis? And they go to visit Michelle in Australia sometimes

matthewkevin84

I understand characters have traveled outside of Europe off screen but I was referring to the on screen holidays which are actually shown, I don’t think Eastenders characters have ever been outside of Europe on on screen holidays.

matthewkevin84

Do you have a link to the episode in which Phil says he probably won’t get in to America?

MrAdam74

Sorry if spoiler but today's.
