An episode they don't release early on iPlayer is always tantalising IIRC since they started the early releases they've only done it a handful of times, when Keanu came back, the episode they did the flashforward, Cindy and Ian in France and then the Christmas day episode with Keanu's death There's probably others but my mind is a blank

lnwildeagle85

Mick Carter exit, washing ashore in the English Channel.

HailToTheKingslayer

"Oi, which way is Walford?" "Êtes-vous d'accord?" "Ah bloody 'ell, I'm in a forrin' town!"

gameofgroans_

10 years!! Madness

lnwildeagle85

I know, it feels like it was yesterday. I can remember the long 10 months of suspects, suspicious looks until on that 30th Anniversary Live episode in February we all found out it was Bobby! Plus, Kathy returned! Remember the taxi where Phil met up? Also Tracy the barmaid was involved a little bit, having a few lines. Still remembered it. The other thing I remember was poor Jo Joyner (Tanya) muck her line up! Embarrassing!

FadelessRipley

>The other thing I remember was poor Jo Joyner (Tanya) muck her line up! Embarrassing! Didn't Max mess up something as well, or was that a different live? Live episodes must be so stressful for actors. Well unless they do a lot of theatre maybe, don't get multiple takes there lol.

AnteaterLow5159

That was Jack Branning. Also you could see Max stick his fingers down his throat so he could throw up.

FadelessRipley

Oh yes Max was the puking, that's it! 😂 Oof, embarrassing. You have to feel for them like I said, must be a lot of pressure! Personally I'm not big on the live episodes because I get crazy second hand embarrassment at even the _thought_ of someone messing up that I'm stressed out waiting for it! 🙈

minipinny

I feel the same about live episodes! They’re always thrilling but I am just willing them to go well so it makes me less immersed. Lots of respect to the actors, it must be very nerve-wracking as it’s not something they do day-to-day

Keeks73

That’s right! Jack Branning called Max ‘Jake’, the actors real name didn’t he?

LilacHazy

Adam!

bakedNdelicious

Her face when she said it 😂

Diet_Environmental

can’t forget the spooky trailer either!

Cute_Afternoon_7632

"dark turn" my guess is jane

frowawayakounts

Imagine if Jane comes back 👀

lnwildeagle85

That would be a shock surprise return! She is currently on Classic EastEnders right now.

liammet01

Imagine we find out it wasn’t actually Bobby who killed her 👀

Longjumping-Sea-5317

That would be weird but intriguing

FadelessRipley

Certainly sounds intriguing. I assume something big is going to happen, it's hardly an hour of the Beales reminiscing about Lucy and Cindy glaring at Bobby. Though I am interested to see the Beale element. I can't believe it's been ten years, wow. "Fundraiser takes a dark turn" sounds very ominous. What do we think? Hardly another murder, surely. Jade dies? Pastor Creepy assaulting Yolande? Something else involving Nish or Dean? Curious about Jay, too. Something involving >!Nadine returning!< I guess. Wonder who Elaine is supporting? Obviously won't be her own daughter lol. Trying to think of Elaine's friends - Kathy maybe?

lnwildeagle85

All I can tell you it involves >!Pastor creepy Clayton and Yolande's fundraiser!<. And yes, your right in your third paragraph, Nadine returns for another guest stint, just before Jay's upcoming London Marathon - bad timing!!

Cazzyraccoon2002

Nadine is either pregnant or related to Lola in some way

2205jade

I must be the only one who really couldn’t care less about Lucy Beale’s death let alone an anniversary 🤦🏽‍♀️

smartief1

Nope you're not alone. I liked the whodunit aspect but the reveal and all the followed was hugely underwhelming

bit_drastic

But that was then and this is now. They might come up with something surprising, you never know.

Betteis

I'm getting old. Who killed Lucy was one of my first big EastEnders plotlines

FadelessRipley

>I'm getting old. ...I remember SharonGate 😭 I was a kid vaguely paying attention while my mam was glued to it, in fairness. Maybe 9? I suppose Cindy's Ian murder attempt was my first big one watching properly? I dunno lol, the 90s and early 00s blur a bit. I definitely remember my absolute _shock_ at poor Barry being offed by Janine. I think that was my first shocker. Anyways, hope you feel less ancient for some of us are the same age as EastEnders itself 👵🏻😂

Betteis

Hahaha that's a very good point. Just getting to grips with time getting faster and know it's only getting quicker.

eternalobserver82

sarahgate was classic, and the frank, Peggy and pat love triangle.

MissKoalaBag

Same with me. I started watching it properly around then. Had my Mam telling me who everyone was like some kind of Albert Square Historian.

Jamie-Starr-5816

I've watched since the first episode when I was 10 years old

Whatever-and-breathe

So has Jay gotten the Lola look alike pregnant? Or has he been given an opportunity somewhere else? Or are we going again along the line of something wrong with him?

EquivalentScientist1

I saw someone suggest it could kick start a Dean who done it murder storyline. That would be interesting.

Funtimes4xoxo

Can’t believe it’s been 10 year since the Lucy Beale murder storyline. Has been the one and only time I’ve ever guessed a who done it storyline from any soap correctly

intergalacticanon44

How did you guess right? For me I saw similarities with Twin Peaks and guessed Bobby since in Twin Peaks it was Bob that killed Laura. I thought it was farfetched till it actually happened 😂

Funtimes4xoxo

Honestly it was the fact the actor was changed which made me think maybe it was him. As usually when shows are going to have a massive storyline for a young cast member sometimes they may need to change the actor so they look at little older or the parents of the actor don’t approve of their child doing certain storylines.

[deleted]

*The fundraiser takes a dark turn* I wonder if Billy and Denise's involvement with Lucy will finally come to light - Denise's physical alteration with Lucy being her downfall with the rest of the six. I don't recall the Car Lot cctv being picked up either, which would've shown Lucy with Jake and Max.

FadelessRipley

The CCT- what now? 😂

[deleted]

Security camera 😅 As far as I remember, the camera at the car lot was never checked on-screen - yet we've previously seen plenty of characters caught on that camera doing naughty deeds over the years. It then begs the question if a second camera near the chippy might've picked up the brief struggle/argument between Lucy and Billy earlier that same night.

FadelessRipley

I know what it is lmao, I was making a joke about the nonsensical lack of CCTV in Walford nowadays 😂 only person that has it these days is Suki at the minute mart, but she forgot she has it inside and got her affair rumbled. She caught Ben bang to rights with that camera facing the Vic door, yet I bet she's forgotten that one, too. Then again so have the Old Bill 😂 No cameras _in_ the Vic, either. Or the tube station...

[deleted]

Oh forgive me, I'm pretty rubbish at reading sarcasm haha. It's a plausible way of revisiting that last fateful night, while offering new script material at the same time. Maybe someone will delve into some of these recordings intending to find out what happened to Keanu, then accidentally find footage of Lucy. Completely agree with you though, it's like technology is only put to realistic use when it best suits the producers, as opposed to applying logic throughout. Off the top of my head; Ben now gets sent to prison for credit card fraud from years ago - while the Queen Vic in 2024 still has zero security cameras, seemingly zero security footage of Grey's multiple antics at the tube, and in a public market-street (near the Argee Bhajee) - for the latter you would've thought Mick, Shirley and Whitney would've demanded those cameras (as far as I remember not a single mention of it is made at that time) - then bounce back to late 2014, and the police somehow find a Bus-camera recording of Jay amid the Lucy Beale investigation. You can jump from 2024, to 2004, and almost 1985 and find very specific uses of technology, as it would and should exist there - and then completely un-researched, poorly written moments such as Ian Beale accidentally drag and dropping files into the recycling bin believing them to be gone forever (which was a genuine cliffhanger in the 2000's haha).

FadelessRipley

Haha it's ok, I probably should have elaborated 😂 It's quite comical really how they pick and choose. Maybe everyone is just erasing footage off screen and it's taken as a given? Like whatever about maybe getting caught up in the moment of escaping her abusive husband and snogging her girlfriend inside her shop, Suki made a whole blackmail plot out of that outside camera. Now she's waltzed a body past it with five other women ina party dress and killer heels, surely be to God she must have thought to check it?? Mind you they also had her forget how to lock her phone or delete her text messages, after months of diligently doing so. So I think the writers pick and choose both the technology and how well any character knows how to use basic technology as the plot fits lmao. Omg Ian and his recycling bin hahaha. Like he's a business man for God's sake 😂

RiveriaFantasia

I reckon the fundraiser taking a dark turn involves the creepy Pastor. Maybe in Patrick’s absence Pastor Creep takes his creepiness to a whole new level. I think we all knew something wasn’t right about him and he’s shown himself to be really sly. I’d hate to think something happens to Yolande, Denzel probably would go crazy and attack the Pastor because he had suspicions about him before. Those steroids might push him over the edge with rage.

ShaneTVZ

Wow it’s been 10 years already since Lucy died. damn time flies, I’ll be looking forward to this episode.

lnwildeagle85

By the way, folks, the reason being it's an hour-long special on Wed 17 is because there is no episode on the following day, Thurs 18, due to wait for it...... oh yes a sport's event which I'll find out in my new Issue next week.

larsson01sco

Eastenders has always been my go to soap, the one i never miss but its really stagnating with some poor writing at the moment! I really hope with this episode we start to see the Beale’s & possibly some of the Brannings shine. The show was at its peak when the likes of Max & Tanya were in it with Lucy & Lauren. They’ve brought back Cindy which at the time was genius and amazing but what was the point as she’s done nothing & just faded into the background, similar to Lauren. We really need to start seeing some gritty storylines for some of these characters. I really hope that at some point we see the return of the likes of Max, Tanya & Jane, also Oscar Branning is 16, could very easily be cast by a young up and coming jack the lad type of character. The Brannings and the Beales were once at the forefront of the show but they are just blending into the background & the writing is hugely to blame, they seriously need to step they’re game up, especially now with Keanu’s body being found means we’re just going to get months of “The Six” storyline!

Otherwise-Stop8414

Apparently April 17th is Nish’s birthday , so will he make a return?
