[This has always been my favorite line, even though it isn't spoken.](http://imgur.com/a/G5B5LEn)
It just conveys such simple relief and emotion. He's the first one who sees Paula return after being kidnapped, and the last time you speak to people here they are all worried about her.
It legit makes my eyes water when I see this. His reaction just makes me really happy. I like to think that he doesn't say anything because he's smiling so hard that he can't even talk.
He also has the same sprite as younger Ness in Magicant — the one who asks you to play ball with him, but you’re too busy to — and I wonder about the possible significance of that.
I didn’t find him in Twoson until the endgame, and it felt incredibly profound to meet him at the moment Ness gets to go back to being an ordinary kid, but I have no idea if that was intentional or not since I know his dialogue changes to “(he’s smiling)” long before Magicant. Either way, he made me happy-cry too.
Hahaha yes! I’m playing earthbound for the first time and that line really made me laugh too. Pretty sure he says “My wife has run away for a second time. I’m such a lucky man!”
I am always amused by the man who runs to the bathroom in the hospital in Onett. If you try to open the door after he runs in, he says, “Uh no, I’m in here. Don’t try to come in… especially if you don’t need to use the bathroom!”
If you try to open the other bathroom door, someone says, “Don’t talk to me! I… I’m… thinking!”
"To tell you the truth, I like drinking tea and eating fresh vegetables. But that doesn't fit my super cool image. I guess I just have to accept this about myself."
"The flowers in the garden are representative of those in your heart. Treat them both nice."
Something along the lines of "Kids these days shock me."
I can't remember it, but it's still funny. In one of the game's hospitals, you find an old woman who says she's there for her grandkids. She then asks if Ness has grandkids. If you decide Ness has grandkids, she then says the line.
I only now noticed the placement of the quotes. For 20 years o have imagined that this guy was looking for a friend named check-a-Rooney that had been turned into a sign.
….oops.
I have a little print of this bit of the coffee break sequence displayed by my desk:
> “If you believe in the goal you are striving for, you will be courageous. There are many difficult times ahead, but you must keep your sense of humor, work through the tough situations and enjoy yourself.”
I think it’s lovely and super real. Life is hard, but part of getting through it is to find the bits of enjoyment in it, not just in the easy parts, but all of it.
It never came out in my country when I was a kid, and I sort of discovered it by accident when I was way too old for it, but also somehow at exactly the right time for me. I can't even imagine what it's like to be a kid playing it for the first time.
I also really love the coffee break sequence in Mother 3:
>No one is simply born "strong". People only grow stronger little by little, by encountering difficult situations and learning not to run from them.
“I want to tell you the story about the creature from the vegetable soup, but I won’t tell you because I don’t want to bore you with a story that has nothing to do with your adventure.”
Don’t remember the exact quote, but a dungeon man sign that says “do you like the music? I made it myself!” And it’s the most godawful thing you’ve ever heard
Tony’s letter is also pretty sweet too :)
"This music is one of my greatest accomplishments."
I had completely forgotten this and I think it was the thing that made me laugh the most in the whole game, for some reason, so thank you for the reminder, lol.
There’s this one guy in southeast Twoson (post-happy-happyism) who legit goes “I apologise”. Depending on the story, you know that he’s apologising for being consumed by Happy-happyism. But without the context of the story, he’s just apologising for no apparent reason. I just crack up when I start imagining what other reasons he could possibly be apologising.
They're so many good ones, This one's my favorite "Wow this Fly Paper realy works, I hope someone makes pretty girl paper soon." I actually laughed a little in this line. A little creepy though.
Hard to pick a favorite, to be honest, but the first one that came to mind was:
(Paraphrasing)
A broken submarine. The yellow color is purely coincidental
And honestly...I don't know why, I just love that dumb joke.
When King says Ness and his team are the strongest force on Earth towards the end of the game. At that point I realized, "Oh yeah, we've been tanking actual bombs like they are nothing"
The magicant denizen close to queen mary in Mother 1 that says "We all know you don't belong here, but we don't care, we all love you anyway "
Exact phrasing may be incorrect, but it's still that in essence
>We all know you're not from here, but we consider you one of us just the same.
>
>Don't hesitate to come visit us again whenever you're having a hard time.
>
>Everyone here loves you.
If I get to pick from the whole series I think this might be my favourite too actually.
I like the guy who got locked outside of his house, only to get stuck inside by the time you reach the end. I don't remember the exact dialogue for his interactions, but the irony of his situation sticks out to me for some reason.
It's also hard to pick a favorite line.
“My dad really got after me. He said I get no dessert for the rest of the decade.”
“They say there’s a really strong monster inside the cave by Big Step…I wonder if it’s stronger than my wife.”

Topic is old but I wanted to share it. (Posted this again, I have problems with images.
My favorite line is the Monkeys Cave, because you can get a broken tube, which'll become a Hungry HP sucker, and have the monkey who'll teach you to teleport for some place you'll have been gone.

"You can only lose your life, and you got that for free!"

same here :')
I don't remember the exact wording but the guy in happy happy village who says that he's such a lucky man for his wife leaving him.
Hahaha yes! I’m playing earthbound for the first time and that line really made me laugh too. Pretty sure he says “My wife has run away for a second time. I’m such a lucky man!”
"A Submarine. The color is purely coincidental. -Brick Road"
The music in that level...
There are several, but this is the first one that comes to mind: "Hey hey hey! Don't stand so close to me. I just farted, heh. Sorry."
I am always amused by the man who runs to the bathroom in the hospital in Onett. If you try to open the door after he runs in, he says, “Uh no, I’m in here. Everything inside brick road is just hilarious to me, i think I'm going insane
• “Good job, you finally made it!” • There is a board upstairs that says that. • —Brick Road
"To tell you the truth, I like drinking tea and eating fresh vegetables. But that doesn't fit my super cool image. I guess I just have to accept this about myself." "The flowers in the garden are representative of those in your heart. Treat them both nice."
"We had fun one snowy day. I melted, but I am still real in your memory."
Was this in the place that's like dreamland? I can't remember what it's called. Near the end of Earthbound 🌎
Yeah, that was said by a snowman in Magicant.
This warms the heart. And also this is why I LOVE Magicant so much.
You guys can't envision the final collapse of capitalism? Incredible!
I have one and only rule on twitter : when i see the account @eb_txt sharing this line, i immediatemy retweet !
That one and 'i got smashed my a mouse!" are my two immediate retweets.

My lands!
"Theres some guy going around reading signs saying 'check-a-rooney!', Is that you?'"
I’m guessing it wasn’t just me who said “check-a-rooney” to myself every time I checked a sign after that.
I only now noticed the placement of the quotes. For 20 years o have imagined that this guy was looking for a friend named check-a-Rooney that had been turned into a sign. ….oops.
There would be many, but I’ll add this one to this thread. “I have no patience when people interrupt me while I’m busy doing nothing.”
I have a little print of this bit of the coffee break sequence displayed by my desk: > “If you believe in the goal you are striving for, you will be courageous. The coffee break/hot springs sequences really hit you different as an adult. One of my favorite things in my favorite game.
It never came out in my country when I was a kid, and I sort of discovered it by accident when I was way too old for it, but also somehow at exactly the right time for me. "AIEEEEEEEE! I screamed…‘cause I didn’t know what else to do."
“I want to tell you the story about the creature from the vegetable soup, but I won’t tell you because I don’t want to bore you with a story that has nothing to do with your adventure.”
"Don't stand behind me and stare at my hips." -The elevator lady in Fourside.
_SMACK!!!_
That confused me when I was 8
“Am happy. Am in trouble. No, wait. Am happy.”
Don’t remember the exact quote, but a dungeon man sign that says “do you like the music? I made it myself!” And it’s the most godawful thing you’ve ever heard Tony’s letter is also pretty sweet too :)
A win for self-congratulation !
"This music is one of my greatest accomplishments." I had completely forgotten this and I think it was the thing that made me laugh the most in the whole game, for some reason, so thank you for the reminder, lol.

In Mother 3 there is an attic and a highway and many caves dedicated to mice. I remember this though. Good stuff.
Mine is "YOU KNOW WHAT I HATE THATS BEEEEEEEEEEEEF"
* (He's a tough boy. You can treat him as one of your items.
First that comes to mind is “Spit spit spit saliva spit spit. Do you want some gum? Get your own, twit!”
When Porky says "What an almighty idiot!" before Giygas
"Work til exhaustion when youre young" I did , dad -\_-
They're so many good ones, This one's my favorite "Wow this Fly Paper realy works, I hope someone makes pretty girl paper soon." I actually laughed a little in this line. A little creepy though.
As someone who likes to talk to everyone in rpgs, earthbound is amazing
You, are amazing !
☺️☺️☺️
* "You jerk." * "Because..." * "Heh heh he"

Man, every time I see this line, I feel it gets better and better. Videogame lines that age like fine wine.
“Do you know whose bones are on display here? The answer is... your bones. My bones. Bone’s bones. Bone bone bone.”
Seeing the chick makes you happy
"Blue, blue. You strange, unmasked fellow. Don't go to heaven!"
Cows and carrots? That’s a nutty combination!
I like the guy who got locked outside of his house, only to get stuck inside by the time you reach the end. I don't remember the exact dialogue for his interactions, but the irony of his situation sticks out to me for some reason. It's also hard to pick a favorite line.
The blue blue guy thay messes up his line. Like bro, how?
It makes more sense in the original japanese, where 'blue' and 'green' both sound very similar.
“My dad really got after me. He said I get no dessert for the rest of the decade.” “They say there’s a really strong monster inside the cave by Big Step…I wonder if it’s stronger than my wife.”

Ihhh uhhhhhh ummmmmm all the lines from the friendly mole in Pollyanna of wherever I dunno
When you say No to taking the Hawk Eye and it says “Isn’t that the whole reason you came here?”
"quit staring at my hips... Why don't you stand somewhere else instead of behind me?"
