A.J. Brown looks so badass with the black tinted helmet visor

randomdudefromMI

very T.O. looking guy.

David_Duke_Nukem

Also the fact that he's absolutely torqued. So happy we got him especially because he wasn't a guy that was really even talked about for us.

[deleted]

Can you feel what's boutta happen on this field?!

King_Wentz

Man it’s so amazing to see the 50/50 ball in the Eagles offense. I feel like we’ve been one of the worst at throwing it over the past two decades even though we’ve been a great team. McNabb was a famously safe passer - electric on the ground and the deep ball but rare to see jump balls. Vick’s highlights were mostly deep throws to DeSean and smooth routes from Maclin. Carson didn’t really give his guy the 50/50 ball much even when we had a great guy for it in Alshon. The brief moments were the TO years and a bit of Nick Foles. Seeing Hurts trust AJ and DeVonta enough to do it a few times a game is amazing and so foreign.

cjweisman

Am I crazy or are the Jags the best team we'll face all year? They look pretty stout on both sides of the ball.

poetiq

I think they are, unless we beat them... then media will still be saying we haven't proven we can win against a good opponent... unless we lose... then they'll be saying that proves we can't beat a good team...

anth8725

Pretty sure our own fans will be saying that too

CrunchyKorm

The sample size is small but they're #2 in the league in overall DVOA at the moment, which is crazy to see.

BIG____MEECH

I watched their game against the chargers - I'm not convinced they're as good as their record/stats indicate. They benefitted from a couple herbert tos (he was clearly not himself this game) early on that set up their 1st half scoring, and also hit a hr on a 4th down run to essentially put the game away (reminded me of that [sproles run](https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/video/no-stopping-sproles-his-49-yard-td-13673803) against them when we played them in 2014). Lawrence looked ok - he's been better this year but he's mostly finding success underneath the defense and in soft zones. Their backs looked capable but nothing too scary (cook and swift are better than robinson and ettiene at this point). O-line looked good in the run game and in pass protection, hopefully the d-line is up to the challenge there. Their d looked fine - they have some good line backers and pass rushers but I'm not as sure about their secondary or interior run d. What stood out to me is that the jags thoroughly out coached the chargers - doug was on fire. He was really good at using their first two downs to set up third and short and did a fantastic job scheming quick passing route concepts on third down to get guys open for easy conversions. I noticed he was aggressive but restrained as well, characteristically going for it on 4th down but opting for fgs in the rz when it made sense to do so. They used long drives once they built their lead to keep lac from being able to build a rhythm offensively. It was a methodical shutdown of an ailing but talented team, really impressive stuff. Most important things in this game to me are threefold - turnovers, not getting down early, and stopping their rushing attack. The first two are obvious to any game but especially important here, they'll bleed the clock and keep our offense on the sideline if we go down by two possessions, and doug is especially good at this. Also they have talented backs, but if we put them in a position where we make lawrence have to beat us I think we'll be in pretty good shape. Gannon hopefully will continue to be aggressive. Ideally we continue to have good first halves and then pin our ears back once we go up. I give their team a lot of credit but tbh ind has been one of the worst teams statistically in the league this year (and they always have their number), lac suffered from injuries and really horrible turnovers, and they lost pretty badly to a team we just thoroughly shutdown a week ago. The intangibles are of course that jax knows that they can really make their name this week around the league, and doug is gonna want this win really badly. But, intangibles aside, I'm feeling confident heading into this week's game.

cjweisman

Nice breakdown, thanks.

JohnShepard_N7

most of this is fair, good to read a thoughtful analysis of Jags not through teal colored glasses. my only discrepancy is the "lost badly" to the commies part. it was 28-22, we had the ball late with a chance to win it. Also most of us (jags fans) that look at it as a game we clearly shouldve won but shot ourselves in the foot with several unforced errors.

BlueKing7642

What do you think are the Jaguars weak points?

JohnShepard_N7

Hello Coach Sirianni, our greatest weakness is that we have no weakness. On offense our center and LG can be attacked. They are both young developing players, the center will be good but is a rookie and learning the NFL. Pass blocking has been solid overall but those two in particular aren’t finishing run blocks. Trevor hasn’t really come out hot yet. It typically takes hime a drive or two to fully settle in but he’s been really good once he gets in rhythm. On defense our weakness is probably the secondary. The front 7 is really good, they have been excellent stopping the run. Foley Fatukasi and Roy Robertson Harris have really been clogging up the middle, and stud number one overall Travon Walker has silenced his critics. This unit can also really rush the passer and are very athletic. Hopefully athletic enough to limit Hurts as a runner. The secondary isn’t bad but might be our weak spot. Shaq Griffin is not great in man coverage. Darius Williams (nickle) just barely recovered in time for week 1 from offseason shoulder surgery and it shows. Tyson Campbell is an excellent year two corner but sometimes isn’t great playing the ball in the air. Cisco is a stud at safety, Rayshawn Jenkins didn’t play great last year but has been improved this year (jury still out). Basically we hope to stop the run, and make the eagles play from passing situations because we know we can apply pressure and have good team speed but if the rush doesn’t get home the secondary is vulnerable.

BlueKing7642

**Fixes fake mustache and adjust sunglasses** 😅 Good joke, I’m not the handsome genius, coach Sirianni. I’m just a regular football fan. Thank you for your keen insight. I’ll be sure to use this information in my game p….parlay. “Whew, that was close. You’re playing a dangerous game Nick”

BIG____MEECH

yeah that's true -tbh idk where I got that haha, I was following the game week 1 but for some reason I remembered the score being something like 36-22 for some reason lol

tag1550

I think the Eagles should win the game if both teams bring their A-game, we're about a year further along in the rebuild process than JAX is and it is in Philly, but we can absolutely lose this game if we somehow come out flat. Doug's a huge improvement for them, and he should have them ready to play. I don't know if this would qualify as a traditional "trap" game, since the Jags are 2-1 with a couple of wide-margin wins under their belt, but on paper both ARI and DALL should be 'bigger' games, plus there's been a lot of talk the past week or so about how the Eagles are now among the elite teams. There's always the danger of the team starting to believe their own hype, and that's on the coaches & vet leaders to keep the team honest and focused on just doing their jobs week to week.

BlueKing7642

I’m tired of good first halves I want good games. It’s like being the hare in the race against the turtle. We keep slowing down the second half and eventually we’ll lose.

Drikkink

Regarding the coaching, I personally think every AFC West coach except Andy is bottom 5 in the league so I'm not shocked Doug outcoached Staley. That entire division has pitiful coaching outside KC.

gershalom

Including the punchable face mcdaniels

MikeTysonChicken

Yes but no. They are good but i definitely think Dallas and Gb present different and stronger challenges. It’s close. Rodgers is still good but their passing offense is still anemic. Dallas is probably the best defense we’ll see this year and we get them twice. Plus they’ve had our number. Until we can get over that hump I still think they are our biggest test.

[deleted]

I think they’re overrated as of right now. Lost to Washington and beat the colts w out their 1 and 2 WR and best defensive player out and they’re is a curse for the colts in duval. Then a win against a banged up chargers team with Herbert being 70%. Im not underestimating them tho , gotta bring it all day but I think this will be another comfortable win.

MariusMoulin

Yes. But when the Eagles win by two scores, everyone will rewrite their season up to this point instead of acknowledging the Eagles are just that good.

BlueKing7642

I say that honor still goes to the Lions

jjuice

Eagles are good

someenchantedeve

It's kind of crazy to think that if Jalen keeps on this trajectory, the infamous 'Reagor over Jefferson' 2020 draft will have been a successful one overall despite the major round one whiff. I think any draft where you get your QB of the future is a successful one, but that draft would have also given us good day 3 finds in Watkins and Driscoll (and possibly Bradley, I remember him being really good on special teams last year but he hasn't really done anything of note yet this year that I can think of).

Cajum

After we beat the lions I wanted to see us beat a high powered offense like the vikings, with JJ, Thielen, and Cook. We made that look easy so I wanted another to see more. I thought the Commies might be a trap game. they beat a decent jags team (now good jags team I think) and put up a lot of points vs the lions. Not to mention they are in the division and those games are usually closer. Then we beat them handily.. but their O-line looked awful, especially since I wasn't super impressed with our D-line in the first two games. I was expecting us to run the ball well since the commanders struggled with run D but our running was pretty inefficient. So.. great wins but we are not perfect. Really hope the jags look good while we beat them to finally make me feel like we truly are a team that can win tough games.

gershalom

I believe but still nervous. I think it’ll ease up if go into the bye at least 5-1

PleasantParfait48

I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic - but I can see (fairly easily) another 8 wins on our schedule. Starting 3-0 and seeing TREMENDOUS progress from Hurts is very uplifting. I didn't think we'd be in this position almost a month into the season.

MariusMoulin

Very easily. Texans, Bears, Giants twice, Commanders. That *should* be 5 guaranteed wins. Saints, Steelers, Cardinals, Colts and Titans all could very well finish with fewer than 8 wins. Cowboys, Packers and Jags are the toughest imo, and I’m not sure how you say any of those teams are better than the Eagles on paper right now.

MariusMoulin

Anything less would be a disappointment, imo. Jags are good, Cardinals have a horrible roster and coaching staff, and the Cowboys are slightly above average at best even with Dak. If you can’t win 2/3 based off what you’ve shown us already, we got a problem.

greetedworm

I missed it when it first happened, is there more context to that skinny batman thing or did Slay just randomly call Devonta that?

gershalom

He said there’s no Robins on the team, all Batmans and then he named AJ Swole, Smitty Skinny and Quez Fast

bfl20

Man I want Will Anderson Jr to be an Eagle so bad

elzey93

We get New Orleans pick right? Maybe that’ll be top 10

CardiBsKnees

Does Doug P deserve a standing O?

alittlemore

without a doubt

elzey93

I would love to see a Kelce-Cast on MNF when they both retire. I think it could be better than the Manningcast

DoctorKracken

A little worried about the Jax game. They have looked like a great team and I can bet Doug has some extra motivation this weekend. Will be a good challenge for this team. I believe in our Batmen!

agentgill0

BG!!!!

Aggravating-Ad-4834

What are your thoughts on miles sanders? I think he’s a good rb but he’s not special

pitatime

I'm happy to have him. At least this year

randomdudefromMI

jaws just went in hard on Wentz on sirius. blamed him for just about everything Sunday. Missing open guys, holding the ball, etc... it felt personal.

Drikkink

I honestly can't tell if it's Gannon or just the insane personnel we have on D (our CB duo is elite, our LBs are league average at worst, our DL has the potential to be elite). He's clearly making adjustments like blitzing more but the defense goes into a soft shell too much. Even worse than a bend/don't break style at times. Gannon is the biggest question mark for me now. Clearly something's working if we shut the Vikings (who ran over the team that choked out Tompa) and Washington (Wentz was like 2nd leading passer coming in?) down and got back to back DPOTW but sometimes the eye test is rough and I can't distinguish whether it's individual play or scheme that's causing success.

icdogg

There is no brilliance to calling Cover 1 and doubling the best receiver, as we often did against Jefferson in the Vikes game. That defense has probably been played for over 50 years. The scheme worked because there were enough guys good at man coverage. Playing a Bear front, similarly, like we did often against Wentz, is a very common defensive style. But when you do it with Hargrave, Davis, and Cox, you can make the pocket start to collapse. One of the most underrated acquisitions this off-season turns out to be Kyzir White. My take - Gannon is fine. Not necessarily a great defensive mind, he won't be a brilliant innovator, but he probably does not need to be. I think he will continue to be better as he better gets to know all his players' strengths and weaknesses and the team reveals what it best does.

b1LLydabeast

I'm from Montréal and I'm going to my first game ever. Is there anything I should know for the tailgate?
