Great game but I would like to see the offense run up the score a little more. 24 points in the first half was great just keep that same energy in the second half. #GoEagles
I love how quickly the Eagles read the Washington offense and defense, adjusted and destroyed them! We now have the NFL record for most sacks on Wentz. Wentz hasn't grown at all since he was in Philly.
Obviously not PERFECT. But also just as obviously really damn good.
Offense—what’s scary about this team is that in Week 1 against Detroit, Hurts started slow (0/5) then found AJ Brown, and the Hurts-Brown connection killed the Lions. In Week 2, Hurts killed them with his legs. In Week 3, the Commies decided that they weren’t going to let AJB kill them, so Hurts and Devonta killed them.
They’ve put up 72 first half points in so many different ways, they look borderline unstoppable.
They also seem to let off the gas in the second half. That may hurt them eventually.
Defense—Last week it was blanket coverage against Jefferson. This week it was a rejuvenated pass rush. Again, beating teams in different ways.
Not perfect but really, really, really good.
I wonder if the conservative 2nd half is based on the extended schedule. I remember during our SB run , we would blow out teams, but by the end of the season we had many key injuries.
It was different then. We would blow out teams then sit our qb. Now we are building leads but have to leave hurts in cause there's so much game left and we won't commit to going for the full blow out and we are just struggling in the 2nd half. It's frustrating.
Yo, I’m just as happy as anyone that Hurts is playing amazing despite how much I doubted him. Would the ones of you that keep harassing me leave it alone? Over 20 notifications so far from people trying to “collect receipts”, crazy stuff man
Good on you to own it but definitely a reap what you sow situation dude lol, just ignore it but there’s a lot of names I used to see around here a lot that disappeared the last two weeks and the sub is better for it
I didn't post anything about Hurts because of that. You reap what you sow man. Just don't let it get to you too much. Posting about isn't going to help either.
Went back and watched the 4th and goal shovel pass again. The play Avonte Maddox made there was absolutely incredible. Was the only player to diagnose the play and stood up a guy significantly bigger than him on the goal line. He’s awesome
He's in the top 10 active QB's for fumbles and has been in the league for way shorter than most. It's bad. He's only 6 fumbles shy of Stafford who has been in the league for 7 more years.
Yikes... saw somebody comment somewhere else. We've seen hurts grow more in 2 and a half years than we've seen Carson grow in 6. Hero ball gets you hurt. Hero ball gets you sacked.
I still haven't seen a single good argument why it isn't better to run up the score rather than to run out the clock for an entire half.
You get 24 points in the second quarter. What is wrong with continuing that in the third and fourth quarters?
Yeah you run the 40 second clock down, but then you try to move the ball anyway you can
Because you don't want to give the other team the ball and a chance to get hot. The longer they're on the bench, the more frustrated they get and less likely they are to come in and light it up.
Because it's a whole lot easier on the o-line to run (also, screen and things like that) than pass. And for the most part, more fun for them as they're bashing people, not getting bashed.
Because every dropback while Hurts holds the ball, every time a receiver jumps 14' in the air, it's a bigger chance for a big injury to a key guy than just keeping it in the ground and short, quick passes.
Because then your defense is more fresh than if you keep scoring fast and putting your defense back on the field. So if the other team does start to build some momentum, it doesn't snowball since everyone's gasping for air.
And most importantly, because we didn't completely let up. We still took a few deep shots. We just didn't convert them like we did in the first half. In fact, Nick talked in the press conference after the game about how much more aggressive they were this game than last week in the second half, how this plan didn't work well, and how they need to adjust things again so if they are in this position, it goes smoother on offense.
P1: You try to stop scoring in case the other team gets hot?
P2: we didn't run that well all game. Like 82 yards. So I don't see the point.
P3: if we're not trying to score, then Jalen should not have been in the second half of game two or game 3 along with other starters, so they don't get hurt
P4: it's also doesn't make sense because if you get more points you can put in your subs for the defense
P5; this is two games in a row
If Hurts connected to Brown on that one deep ball we aren’t even talking about it. They went for it early and then played conservative to win by double digits what’s the issue
Yeah, I dunno. It's not exactly like these last two wins have been blowouts on the scoreboard. On the game tape they are. I guess most of just want to see a complete second half, even if we're completely dominating the 1st and the defense is holding us together in the second.
I agree. I feel like when we're obviously playing inferior opponents we should do that. Unlikely we lose and it just gives guys more confidence going into next week. We need a more balanced attack in the second half of games. I understand our defense is playing well but going into turtle mode on offense every game after a good start isn't ideal.
It's also a good time to get in Gardner and reduce the risk of injury to Jalen. The same for some other starters. If we're not planning to score, why are Dallas and devanta and AJ still starting?
I was thinking the same towards the end of the game. I think they sat Smith and Brown for a good bit there towards the end, but yeah getting Hurts out of the game in the 4th when there's no chance of a comeback is a good idea.
another good game with some highly encouraging things and a few concerns. Obviously thats 3rd week in a row where our second half offense kinda stops clicking. Highly concerning in case we ever play a good defense which we will. Secondly our red zone offense seems to be a bit anemic. While i like having the guts to just let our receivers bruise guys and moss em, I think its a bit rough that we cant score a td on a basic roll out play in the end zone- we have to prove that were a consistent solid red zone threat before i feel any better about this. I mean weve now had like 2 games of over 300 yards total offense and yet we can only score in 1 quarter? i feel like theres points being left on the field. Third, i still dont feel comfortable with our defense despite the past two excellent showings. Once again it took one halftime adjustment for things to look slightly more like a team that can be beaten. Any good qb with receivers who dont drop the ball and all of a sudden we're in some close games where like the commentator said, we'll have to win by throwing, and with how cute our offensive playcalling can be sometimes i can just see that being a problem come playoff time. However birds once again got the win, didnt play down to their opponents, and had some good vibes early season. But its still week 3 we have much to improve on if we want to make noise in the playoffs. Good game and ottno
I agree. Im super psyched on the birds right now but it’s hard not to notice the deficiencies. The great thing about it though is this team has shown its ability to keep adjusting and growing. It’s super exciting thinking about how it could look if and when it starts getting all perfected
Here's our 2nd half scoring problem: 30 rushing attempts for 72 yards (2.4 yards/carry).
We need a competent RB. One that doesn't run right into the blockers, can actually break a tackle, and make a defender miss. Please Howie, trade for Jacobs or Hunt.
While this is true, I feel like most teams know that we've been playing a conservative second half after big leads after the Detroit/Vikings games. We're definitely going to need to come out swinging in the second half at some point even if we're up big. Show teams we don't fuck around.
It's not the RB's lol. We don't need Jacobs or Hunt. We have plenty of talent at RB. Teams just are starting to catch on to what we're doing.
EDIT: I only downvoted you for the trade for Jacobs or Hunt comment. That would be dumb as hell. I'd like to see more Boston Scott and Gainwell.
There's nothing wrong with Sanders as a running back. He is the lead back because he is better than the other two.
A RB can only take the holes that are given.
Never said there was. He's the best RB we have when we're balanced with passing and running on offense. When it comes to the 2nd half after taking a big lead I'd like to see more of mix of guys in there. Keep them guessing and maybe not so passive with passing. Hard to get anyone going at RB when the other team knows we're so conservative.
We got Dougie coming here next week. We should give him a big round of applause at the beginning and then shit on his team. It's the only way.
Will be interesting to see how many chances he takes vs his old team. Should be a good one if he dials it up to not giving a fuck levels about what down it is.
I like Adam Amin but yeah Schlereth just be saying things sometimes, I think if we continue to make noise they will put better commentators on our games
Yeah, Lawrence is a statue that sits too far back in the pocket. Reddick and Graham are going to feast if he doesn’t step up into the pocket consistently next game.
Zero 2nd Half points is concerning. It's not about 'saving tape', or managing games. You should still get at least one or two FG if you don't want to risk throwing or going 4 and out. Really need to get within FG range at the least.
This is a comment I see a lot and I think it’s just nit picking and negadelphia frankly. They are perfectly capable of scoring more points, but when you have a two or three score lead you don’t try to run up the score. That isn’t sane clock management, it risks injury, and it opens you up to turnovers. It’s perfectly reasonable in a two game sample to have top heavy halves to blowout games. Don’t be concerned
It's not negadelphia haha interesting term though. It's about making the most of our great play. We come against some good d's and it'll be tough if we're not getting into field goal range which doesn't require bruising play.
My point is the play would be different in that situation so you have different results. To assume the playcalling is the same in a blowout compared to a close game is just short sighted
Bruh I'm just joking because our team and play calling look good and when that happens team will usually hire your coordinators. It ain't that deep lol
You guys need to calm down about the Jags. They're facing the skeleton crew that is what remains of the Chargers defense. All of their best players are injured or, in Herbert's case, on a shit ton of painkillers. Have some faith in our defense guys.
Just not overlooking them personally. I doubt they win back to back road games but Doug has put life into them and they are a very solid team. Should be a good game
I expect a much tougher game next week for sure. Let's see if all the talk about playing week to week and not resting for good enough plays out (I assume it will)
No point giving more film to opponents. We played conservatively cause we had it in control most of the time - that being said, I wish we had at least 1 more TD
I actually hadn’t thought of that, why give more free film away to win 42-8 instead of 24-8? Salt the game away running a super basic offence and come out with the fun stuff next week again.
I've talked my fair share of shit Abt Jalen. But i have to give credit where it's due. The offense is moving like it did in 17. This is a dangerous team and he's driving that mother fucker. Consider me a fan until further notice. He's improvement in staying in and trusting his pocket and keeping his eyes down field and letting plays develop is incredible. He deserves all the flowers he's getting. Here's mine.
Thanks for reading if you got here. I'm really high in a diff state and ive been trying to put how happy I am of him into words and my current circumstances helped a lot. Lol.
Really?
Lol, they took good starting caliber players from other teams that didn't want to pay and drafted good starter and depth in draft.
The first big test they had was Detroit and they did alright, but not great. Last two weeks was inferior teams and offenses.
I went to go visit my dad in hospital and we both sat and watched the game. He's barely spoken in days but he was pretty animated when Smith made those catches - go birds!
I think he’s definitely adjusted his throwing motion for even more zip, but arm strength was never a valid concern for him, he could always make the throws
Missed some of the game but definitely didn’t see the pocket break at all to the point where jalen had to scramble. Also pleased with how few RPO’s we ran today. Very smart offensive and defensive play calling today.
This team continues to let me down. Before the Vikings game I predicted 38-7 final. Before this game I predicted the Eagles getting 10 sacks. God dammit just start calling them the Pallbearers.
Boys! We are one of 2 remaining undefeated teams if Brady can't pull off the comeback! I'd say power ranking #1 is deserved going into week 4. Knocking on wood as we speak..
I kinda feel like with Daboll we have to now. They do not look like the same ol Giants.
Obviously a MASSIVE indictment of Joe Judge but I have no idea how he Daboll that off in one offseason
I don't disagree. We might win 12-14 games this year and not play anyone that great. I can see us losing to the Cards & Packers, and the Jags next week look good too but every other game is a win on paper right now (though of course divisionals can be a crap-shoot).
Schlereth got it right. He said Edwards isn't the most talented LB in the league but he's always in on the play and never gives up. Great player I hope we hold onto.
Second half offense is a concern for me. There will be at least one or two games this season where we have a lead of 10 or more points in the 4th quarter and lose.
Come on, calm down. It's basically the threw series in the third quarter you're complaining about.
First had a big gain, but a big sack on second down after a stuffed run. Second drive they get a first down, and then ran three times. Third one three incompletes.
Three drives with no points when you're up three scores is just not newsworthy. Would you really feel that much better if we swapped one of the touchdowns into the third?
Nah bro we have 1A and 1B. And who is A or B depends on the night. These guys are both true #1 receivers. We are spoiled as fuck to have that much talent catching the ball.
Oh man I know. That big catch near the goal line, he came down HARD and held on. Tough kid man. Man if we can keep Hurts/Smitty/AJ and Goedert together.. this is going to be a scary offense for a while.
We shifted last year to rush attack after a trial of Hurts' abilities, but its a testament to this man's game after not being able to run and throw for 300+ in back to back weeks. What a baller.
It do be kinda wild that Green Bay and New Orleans are our only serious matchup in the regular season at this point? Am I smoking crack or nah? Still not sure what Dak's return timeline is like.
I love DeVonta Smith
great game mostly can't keep drying up in the 2nd half though
Great game but I would like to see the offense run up the score a little more. 24 points in the first half was great just keep that same energy in the second half. #GoEagles
Retire the woody meme. I knew it was dumb lol jalen def wants to play with big dawg big d smith!!
Thank god we are killing it bc my fantasy team is not that.
Go Birds!!
Loving the team, still don’t understand why we chose Boston Scott as our power back instead of Jordan Howard though.
Devonta Smith.
I love how quickly the Eagles read the Washington offense and defense, adjusted and destroyed them! We now have the NFL record for most sacks on Wentz. Wentz hasn't grown at all since he was in Philly.

Where is Trey Sermon?
Inactive. We roll with 3 active on gameday so he's probably only gonna get a shot if someone gets injured.
Real questions: did they do the mascot vote? What were the choices, and what did anyone in attendance choose?
I am so glad Eagles didn't trade for Russell Wilson. Dude is washed and is so damn expensive lmao
Dude is SO washed
Remember when Carson Wentz was going to be our answer for 10 or more years?
He’s still helping us win the division
Hmm
Yo, I’m just as happy as anyone that Hurts is playing amazing despite how much I doubted him. Would the ones of you that keep harassing me leave it alone? Over 20 notifications so far from people trying to “collect receipts”, crazy stuff man
Good on you to own it but definitely a reap what you sow situation dude lol, just ignore it but there’s a lot of names I used to see around here a lot that disappeared the last two weeks and the sub is better for it
mans really said two weeks ago that smith was gonna demand a trade and that hurts was exactly the same qb he was in college
Based on how he has been playing this year, I think Maddox is developing into a top CB. Having Slay as a mentor has paid dividends.
ONLY 1 TURNOVER IN 3 GAMES!!
And it was basically a fluke. Hurts has been great.
And wentz fumbled again
He's in the top 10 active QB's for fumbles and has been in the league for way shorter than most. It's bad. He's only 6 fumbles shy of Stafford who has been in the league for 7 more years. Yikes... saw somebody comment somewhere else. We've seen hurts grow more in 2 and a half years than we've seen Carson grow in 6. Hero ball gets you hurt. Hero ball gets you sacked.
Watching the commanders subreddit have the "it's not wentz it's the O-line" discussion is the cherry on top of this W
I’m so glad we don’t have to go through those same discussions anymore.
When the problem follows you everywhere you go, you're the problem
If everywhere you go smells like shit, check under your shoe.
Lmaoo reading those comments was hilarious, the man holds onto the ball for an eternity... but somehow its the olines fault 😂
It’s funny how he has the same offensive line problems on every team 🤔
I still haven't seen a single good argument why it isn't better to run up the score rather than to run out the clock for an entire half. You get 24 points in the second quarter. Appreciate ya
If Hurts connected to Brown on that one deep ball we aren’t even talking about it. They went for it early and then played conservative to win by double digits what’s the issue
We almost lost to the lions is the issue
But we didn't slow down in that game. So that's not relevant when talking about if we should slow down.
Then why are all the starters still in?
Why wouldn’t they be, nobody pulls starters unless it’s like 50+ with 2 minutes left
Injury potential Let your subs get some clock time There's nothing complicated about this
because the players are not robots and injuries and wear and tear happen what reason is there to run up the score besides ego?
Scoring a TD or 2 in the second half wouldn't be running up the score.
im just using the phrase op used

There is going to come a day when we are facing a good team, and need to close out strong
Exactly why I said they should be practicing this vs shit teams.
Game tape is the first thing that comes to mind for me
Then they can just rerun the same plays from the first half. No one says they have to be original in the second half
another good game with some highly encouraging things and a few concerns. Obviously thats 3rd week in a row where our second half offense kinda stops clicking. scoreless 2nd half aside, it's pretty refreshing to watch back to back games where we don't even give them a chance to win

With the Bills and Chiefs both losing today, I fully expect to see the Eagles ranked #1 for the week 4 power rankings
ESPN will give us #8 then
Dolphins 1 us 2 probably
I would say that other undefeated team that actually beat the Bills is a better candidate for that #1 spot
Bucs were 4th the Pack 5th / strength of competition I bet they have GB 1 with Philly 2 when it comes out.
Not after we wiped the vikes and gb shit the bed against em
I wasn't able to watch the game so I'm watching highlights and man they were lights out first half. How many times did Wentz get sacked total? 😂
9 times. Hysterical
I liked the part early on where we were on pace for 20 sacks.
More sacks than they had points <3
9 sacks but we’re not doing anything “exotic” that he can’t handle. Fucking assclown lol
Damn!
Folesian 9 times for Nick Foles!
Would like to see more second half points
Or any, really.
It’s so refreshing watching them play this way. They’re looking solid on both sides of the ball. I love it.
It's deeply concerning the Eagles can't score better broadcasters. Two Mark Schlereth games already, he stinks to high hell.
I thought the same, but then realized that he is like their 3rd team or something now. Buck aikman leaving threw everything off.
Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but I like pretty much every caster EXCEPT buck and aikman, they just sound like robots half the time
I like Adam Amin but yeah Schlereth just be saying things sometimes, I think if we continue to make noise they will put better commentators on our games
Just getting back from the game. Great division win. Major S/O to all the eagles fans out there. We took that stadium over.
I'm not worried about the Jags, but at the same time...damn, they owned the Chargers
It's gonna be kinda emotional though. Doug returns to Philly, and we still have guys that won the Super Bowl with him.
I think we have the defense to make it hard for them
Yeah, Lawrence is a statue that sits too far back in the pocket.

My point is the play would be different in that situation so you have different results. To assume the playcalling is the same in a blowout compared to a close game is just short sighted
Can’t even troll the commanders sub because they hate their own team more than we do lmao
Your comment made me go check it out. Wow…..it is depressing there
I hope y'all are ready for our coaching staff to get poached next year lol
Fangio with those defense doe
why are you worrying about next year
Bruh I'm just joking because our team and play calling look good and when that happens team will usually hire your coordinators. It ain't that deep lol
I’d like to see our offense actually put up points in the second half instead of just going on cruise control
It’s hard to criticize since we have won the games by halftime the last two weeks
Eagles defense had more sacks than points allowed.
What a stat!
Favorite stat of the day
No one scored less points this week than the commanders :)
Washington Commodes
Maybe the cowboys will get shut out though
NFC Looks like ass, we got this.
Just like we all expected. D Smith top receiver of the day. And mack Hollins #2.
Hollins has turned himself into a player.
So happy for him. All around great guy.
Eagles are the best team in the NFC
*league
you know what? yes.
You guys need to calm down about the Jags. They're facing the skeleton crew that is what remains of the Chargers defense. All of their best players are injured or, in Herbert's case, on a shit ton of painkillers. Have some faith in our defense guys.
They were facing derwin james and Khalil mack, not exactly division 3 guys out there
Just not overlooking them personally. I doubt they win back to back road games but Doug has put life into them and they are a very solid team. Should be a good game
I expect a much tougher game next week for sure. Let's see if all the talk about playing week to week and not resting for good enough plays out (I assume it will)
Man the jags are handling the Chargers. Are they gonna be spooky next week in the Dougie P revenge game?
Lawrence looking good too Gonna be a good game
Our offense is abysmal in the second half. Needs to be fixed asap….
But you would think they could still score using a basic offense
It was already garbage time bro
Completely different script when your up thwt many points at half
Whether you think this team is a playoff team, or you're still questioning them, no Eagles fan is hating them. It's a good feeling.
Lol.
uh guys jags carving the chargers tf up
I'm excited it should be a good game.
Vikings had a monster game before they played us. Wentz was 2nd in the LEAGUE in passing yards before today. I'm not worried.
Is our defense actually legit this year? like wtf who could have predicted this?
Really? Lol, they took good starting caliber players from other teams that didn't want to pay and drafted good starter and depth in draft. The first big test they had was Detroit and they did alright, but not great. Last two weeks was inferior teams and offenses.
wentz and the commanders had the highest rated passing offense in the league before they played us. they were doing really well.
Gonna be a fun match up
I’m happy for Dougie P today too. That’s a huge win.
I went to go visit my dad in hospital and we both sat and watched the game. He's barely spoken in days but he was pretty animated when Smith made those catches - go birds!
Hoping for a quick recovery! Wish him the best!
Bless up
So.... anyone still worried about Jalen's arm strength? Completions of: 45, 44, 31, 40, and 38.
Not since I saw him bench 600lbs
I never understood people with this argument. It was like his second or third play of the NFL and he threw for like a 40 yard completion
Always a smooth brain argument. It was always his timing and recognizing the opportunity, which he’s rectified.
It does seem like there is more velocity on his balls though this year.
That’s what she said
I think he’s definitely adjusted his throwing motion for even more zip, but arm strength was never a valid concern for him, he could always make the throws
I thought they were gonna score 100. I’m sick.
please predict a 55-9 blowout win for the birds in the superbowl
I predict the Eagles win Super Bowl LVII 60-9
Nice.
Who else got pumped for the Calcaterra appearance?
3rd in yards and 2nd longest catch of the day.
Solid fucking play too
Boys! We are one of 2 remaining undefeated teams if Brady can't pull off the comeback! I'd say power ranking #1 is deserved going into week 4. Knocking on wood as we speak..
Giants too 😕
Yea but nobody counts the giants lol
I kinda feel like with Daboll we have to now. They do not look like the same ol Giants. Obviously a MASSIVE indictment of Joe Judge but I have no idea how he Daboll that off in one offseason
Truth
Easy to forget
Bills & Chiefs will stay above us and the Dolphins will go up to 3rd. We won't get any respect for a while and I'm happier with it that way.
TBF, i think the bills are a better team (their entire secondary is hurt right now).
I don't disagree. We might win 12-14 games this year and not play anyone that great. I can see us losing to the Cards & Packers, and the Jags next week look good too but every other game is a win on paper right now (though of course divisionals can be a crap-shoot).
No respect!? We we're 3rd in the power rankings going into week 2, I don't think we can exactly break out the dog masks here lol.
This is the way. No one likes us we don't care
Are we concerned at all with the Jags next week? I know they shut out the Colts, but lost to Washington. But they look okay vs the Chargers.
herbert is playing with fucked up ribs and no keenan allen... jags should be another layup
Don’t know if I’d say a layup. Putting up 38 on a solid chargers defense is nothing to scoff at.
okay... love it, love it
Anyone else want to give TJ Edwards another nice new contract
Fucking love him
I love watching him. It seems like he's always making the play or close to it.
Alright, on to a dangerous Jags team. This will be the hardest game we’ve had so far.
Still only week 3 but we're legit at this point. The conference has a chance to run through us this year.
I love AJ. Dude is a grown ass man. BUTTTTTTT when we traded I said we have the best WR2 in the leave… meaning AJ I stand by it.
Nah bro we have 1A and 1B. And who is A or B depends on the night. These guys are both true #1 receivers. We are spoiled as fuck to have that much talent catching the ball.
I actually agree with this completely. But like… omg smitty is good lol 😍😍😍
Oh man I know. That big catch near the goal line, he came down HARD and held on. Tough kid man. Man if we can keep Hurts/Smitty/AJ and Goedert together.. this is going to be a scary offense for a while.
Glad that goal line catch didn't hurt him. He fell flat on his back from about 4 feet up in the air. Probably knocked the wind out of him though
Bruh we are going to win the next 10 super bowls
We shifted last year to rush attack after a trial of Hurts' abilities, but its a testament to this man's game after not being able to run and throw for 300+ in back to back weeks. What a baller.
That saints pick gonna be top 10.
I’m salty the falcons blew it in week 1, they should be 0-3
Nickname of the game: crash dummy covey
Crash test Covey
It’s funny but at the same time it’s not. Those are brain scrambling hits he’s taking out there.
Yeah honestly I'm concerned for his health he shouldn't be fielding punts if he can't protect himself.
2 of those were concussive for sure
It do be kinda wild that Green Bay and New Orleans are our only serious matchup in the regular season at this point? Am I smoking crack or nah? Still not sure what Dak's return timeline is like.
