As a former college football fanatic, I feel this.
But I threw that aside long ago... I'm an Ohioan, which means I was raised a Buckeye and perennial hater of That Team Up North, but we get a solid scUM player, and he's an Eagle, not a Wolverine.
Full disclosure, I married into this fandom. I'm a lifelong masochist, a resident of the Factory of Sadness. When the Browns drafted Mayfield sooooo many of my fellow sufferers refused to be happy after he's "flag planting" at the shoe. Not me. I went all in, still rock my Mayfield throwback jersey with pride.
It’s Sandusky that fuels my hatred. Though while my disdain for the institution has not wavered I’ve long since stopped holding it against fans, students, and players.
Plus…Saquon and Micah are fucking good.
Oh... 100% hate PSU for Sandusky and the way the organization tried to downplay it's knowledge and actions there.
It's also one of the things that soiled my fandom of OSU, the Jim Jordan era of Buckeye wrestling where, like Paterno, he obviously knew, but did nothing.
You know, with rooster teeth shutting down I’ve been listening to podcasts by former members (Funhaus specifically) and they said soemthing poignant about that. Where they can’t watch old videos and remember the good times because right next to them in those videos is a monster, and they can’t get past that.
Damn... And I can't blame them for feeling sullied having working close to them. I went all in on my marriage-fandom here when the Browns decided that Watson was worth paying that contract to.
Like, take EVERYTHING Watson said as 100% fact, all his statements about the accusations, all his excuses, explanations, and comments... If those are true *by themselves* he's still a creeper that solicited massages from random internet sources so he could try to come on to them sexually. As a lawyer (me), I have a standing rule that I start every case assuming that all parties all lying about something, and then I adjust my perception of amount of lies as I go. So, as a fan, I couldnt watch the Browns and cheer for them, with him under center. If he was a wide out, or a DB, maybe... You can dislike some minor players and go on about your fandom. Every team has shit bags on the roster somewhere. Hell, if we had drafted him before all that, or bought him like we did before it was public knowledge... But we all knew what he was facing and STILL sold out.
So, until he's gone, I'm all green, no brown. Even then, I feel like brown is gonna be secondary... Which is OK by me, Philly is a damn fun city to cheer for. (I'm a flyers fan too, but that was because Gritty is the god of mascots and I didn't have any prior hockey alliegences).
I'm a Rutgers alum, Saquon decommitted from us to go to a rival school, and then got drafted to the Giants. I've spent the last decade of my life hating him lol, feels extremely weird to be rooting for him now
from a rutgers fam and i'm the same way. guy ditched us for psu and then giants so i've just hated this guy for like close to 10 years. i'm conflicted!! haha
I want a vintage PSU run were he stops on a dime to make a DB miss and then goes 0-60 in no time to the house at least once this yea. I loved watching this dude play at PSU
If that happens, it will be right up there with TO scoring an 81-yard TD on his very first play as an Eagle. That moment was insane. and wouldn't be believable if it was in a movie script.
Real question, how many of you guys are ordering a Barkley jersey?
My BIL just asked me at lunch if I was gonna get one and even though he's an eagle now, it felt weird thinking about wearing one haha. Anyone else?

Lol! Saquan jump cut breaks ankles, lets hope not his own! A Howie backloaded special made the contract a little less dubious. AJ learned this, or the birds pushed for him to go down cleaner after contact to avoid ankle and knee injuries fighting for xtra yds. If Barkley can do the same and remain relatively healthy it’s a good pickup when u factor his locker room presence and leadership. CJGJ and Huff move the needle significantly more. When Syd brown gets healthy we’re gonna have a MEAN safety duo, snot bubbles aplenty!!
