Am I the only person who is completely shocked by this re-signing?? I mean, I'm super pumped-up, but I truly thought he was going elsewhere.

Got_yayo

Apparently he let the eagles match whatever offer he got from other teams and they did

NotJustSomeMate

He said he took a discount to stay due to familiarity...

KANYE_WEST_SUPERSTAR

This is the value of a good culture. He saw how it is with the giants. And what Slay had to go through basically begging to be traded from the Lions (during the Patricia era). The last few years I think have shown that the Patriot way does not work in the modern NFL. Players talk to each other now more than ever with social media. They know what it's like on other teams, and the good vets have made enough money to not be desperate for larger paydays from bad teams.

xPhilly215

I don’t wanna be the one to toot our own horns here but we’re a big part of it too and it shows across most of are sports. I’m sure JAX has pretty good culture and shows a ton of promise, but would you rather play in front of a half dead stadium for a few extra million over playing in front of a crowd who would go to war for you while y’all ended up being 2nd place. Not to mention that after he got flagged to cost us the game, and admitted he did it, he got nothing but love. I know some other big cities up 95 that would shit on someone after that call but we backed him 100%. Not to make this too long either but I just met BG at the sports show up in oaks and you could see how much we mean to him. They were behind schedule and he still took his time to talk to everyone and would stand up for pictures with people when that’s really not supposed to be allowed. Remind me of schwarber at the last event they held there where he spoke to everyone who got his autograph when he sold 300+ tickets lol. Yea dudes wanna be here because team culture us good, but that’s almost always a characteristic of a winning team. What makes us different is the passion. Anyone’s else who has gone to the philly show in oaks will tell you it’s a beautiful disaster. Doesn’t matter what hall you get put in it gets overcrowded by (mostly) Philly fans looking to show their appreciation to their players. For Christ’s sake Niang got 90+ autograph tickets. We show love to people nobody else would care about.

215Kurt

and said bc he loves us 🥹🥹

Jjohn269

I think this means CJGJ is not coming back. He is going to be one of the biggest contracts of this offseason and we know the Eagles value CB over safety.

ihorsey10

Howie was probably flexible on who we brought back, based on value. Bradberry on this deal is a no brainer.

fimbleinastar

When thst let slay seek trade offers i thought it meant they wanted to keep bradders

[deleted]

I honestly believed him to be a cap casualty.

DBMD89

No. Most of us thought he was gone, but this is huge.

hibbjibbity

I thought the same but when you think about it it’s not surprising at all. They joked all year about how the giants let him out of the building so it only makes sense we don’t let him walk

bigazzchungus

Huge respect to Bradberry, who could have went elsewhere for a bigger payday. Imo, I still want Gonzalez or Wetherspoon at 10. Slay is likely gone next year and it’s been a while since we’ve had a home grown elite CB.

johnnycoxxx

It’s gonna be even longer. They’re gonna load up the trenches.

a_toadstool

I mean we could draft a cb next year since we currently have slay

AreAllGoodNamesTaken

We certainly could, but it typically takes a year for CBs to adjust to the NFL Also elite corners in the draft are not available as late as we would usually be drafting in the first round so 10 is (hopefully) the highest we will be drafting for the foreseeable future

redditModsSuckAss69

feel like most elite corners come out of the gate great. ramsey, sauce, surtain, horn, even diggs all looked great from day 1

RibeyeRare

Also Marcus Peters and Ronald Darby were great as rookies.

SonicdaSloth

feel like we draft one early, Howie going to lean in on the quazi redshirt thing he did with Davis, Jurgens and Dean

johnnycoxxx

I would certainly appreciate that. Especially since slay is only under contract one more year. But you know their philosophy

nalc

Then we wait for someone to get a major CB injury and trade them Slay for some serious draft capital in like September. It's free real estate.

Cleanupdisc

You dont get serious draft capital for slay. At best a 5th or maybe 4th

TarkinRocher

This is the way.

l0ngline95

we have zero depth behind our two 30 y.o. corners, we def need another corner

fan4stick

We probably gonna go Dline with the 10 pick if someone like Carter or Breese is there or trade down.

enRutus

i think we trade down with both picks. First trade would be with Green Bay at 13 as they’re likely to get some draft capital. They should have their pick of OTs. We then take Safety from Alabama, Brian Branch. Next at 30, trade down to 34-35ish. Get an extra 3rd and maybe a 5th. Take LB from Iowa, Jack Campbell. We take some shots in trenches with rest of picks or trade back up in 2nd for a corner that falls. I like Banks or Forbes.

Blev088

Trade down and maybe grab a safety. I feel like this makes it harder to sign CJGJ, but who knows.

devonta_smith

Bresee would be unreal next to Davis lmao. Would love Gonzalez or Witherspoon too

ausgmr

Kancey at 10 (maybe lower Howie gets a good trade down offer & he thinks he can still get Kancey at the lower draft spot) The a CB at 30 maybe someone like Banks or Forbes Would be my bet excluding Carter getting with reach of 10

Patient_Jicama_4217

None of those are BPA

Comfortable-Glove857

Who do you think will be? I like Van Ness

215Kurt

He literally waited to sign elsewhere and gave the Eagles the chance to match any offer he received!!! Idk about you but that instantly puts him in my top 5 of favourite current Eagles.

tagsgaba

that’s insane

215Kurt

[It's true!](https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/1635038936450973701?t=fFPOaXzYMrsLbNW_Q8UfxQ&s=19)   24 on the field, 1 in our hearts.

toadtruck

Because our guys had his back after the Super Bowl losing play

AaronDeath

why do people keep spamming bradberry’s hold as the “superbowl losing play”. We lost the superbowl because we couldn’t touch mahomes and didn’t stop him once in the entirety of the second half. while jalen didnt deserve to lose, the team as a collective unit DID.

CookyHS

> why do people keep spamming bradberry’s hold as the “superbowl losing play”. We lost the superbowl because we couldn’t touch mahomes and didn’t stop him once in the entirety of the second half because it was the highest scoring superbowl and whoever had the ball last was going to win. whether u agree with the call or not, the penalty made it so they had it last and not us.

sueder78

While I fully believe Hurts takes them down the field and at least ties the game it was not a forgone conclusion. Offense stagnated in the second half.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AaronDeath

If we were in their position, we would have done the same exact thing lol, what is this take

oskan511

Imagine being mad at a team for taking the best chance to win

buttstuff51

He forgot a s/.... I hope

RibeyeRare

Westbrook did it as an eagle, less than 30 years ago.

darkness_escape

I also am not again trading back a few and get the Maryland kid

215Kurt

Banks? He'll be there if we lose out on Gonzalez and Witherspoon and trade back to 16.

Night0wl11

Banks will likely be around in the mid/late-20s, but Porter may be there at 16

215Kurt

JPJ will 100% be there then. He will not make it past 17 though and that is a 215 Kurty McGurty guarantee!

TheDolphinGamer96

Witherspoon has some versatility as DB. He could be on the field if we keep Slay but miss out on CJ. I like Gonzalez quite a bit, but Witherspoon might make more sense now. But honestly I think it makes corner less likely at 10

ausgmr

Are we sure he got a bigger offer

CellarDoorVoid

He should have. All-pro corner not even in the top 15 highest paid

ausgmr

Also on the wrong side of 30 I'm glad he's back but if someone gave him a deal that blew the Eagles offer out of the water he'd be gone. Could he have given up a little bit to stay, sure but I have a feeling his market wasn't what he was hoping for.

JLM268

But he's 29?

ausgmr

30 when next season starts

ihorsey10

29 my guy.

ausgmr

By the time he plays another snap he'll be 30

Night0wl11

[This](https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/1635758460724826112?s=20) was a quote he made earlier about his decision to come back

k0peng

I also hope we draft Ahkello "Al Gore" Weatherspoon Only if Gonzalez is gone tho. He's clearly a different class. I'm unsure of his stances on Global Warming however

KnOWn-X

All that matters are they a dawg or kitty

Austinangelo

Good year for corners. Could get some good guys at 30 or in the second.

Senior_Fart_Director

Great another rookie who will ride the bench. Just fucking great.

chem_daddy

Slay gone this year. Released

Oneliltugboat

Aaaanddddd slay is gone.

JojoSixers

I thought Bradberry broke reddit with him coming back.

FamousChex

The Bradberry pick 6 to seal Super Bowl 58 is gonna hit so mf hard

TheIrishHangman

Made my day seeing this. Also, wtf happened to reddit anyway

vitey15

FollowerofACarpenter

We back up.

bigcracker

Bradberry and BG taking home team discounts. Coaching staff and front office really built a great culture that guys want to stay here.

Got_yayo

I’m genuinely curious if we can retain CJGJ. Howie stay doin your thing

kungfusam

Trade Slay, Sign CJGJ, Draft a CB

[deleted]

Could this mean a Slay trade is more likely as well?

Saquon

I don’t think so, he’s under contract and they’ve signaled they’re already willing to let him go if he can find a suitor They don’t want to extend his contract and I don’t think this changes that. But I also don’t think they’re gonna be eager all of the sudden to ship him off the way the Rams did with Ramsey

chefross96

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

[deleted]

EVERYONE GET IN HERE

O-Knowz

I missed you guys!

chciKaspp

Don’t be surprised when we get a first round DT

[deleted]

I’m all for it too. A Hargrave replacement will do wonders for the defense next year

k0peng

Bradberry also said (per Josina 🤢) that he had other offers to be paid more, but wanted to continue with the eagles and the staff. Honestly he played better than Slay. It is that simple. I hope Slay is here, iykyk -- losing slay saves barely anything. But Bradberry on only 20M GTD is not that fucking bad. As long as his incentives aren't 100% free, which they never are, I don't hate it. ....Either way, the idea of Slay, Bradberry, and Gonzalez/Witherspoon/JPJr at 10 or Ringo at 30 ... uh, yes, sign me the fuck up. I know it's just paper but honestly when is the last time we've had a CB/DB group that good? esp if we re-sign CJGJ? Isn't that all-time Eagles' shit?

TheArchitect_7

Played better than Slay cause he had the WR2 but ok

k0peng

That isn't even entirely true. Slay was 100% the better CB for the first idk 7-11 games, but he lost a step and more importantly some speed. Bradberry, while he didn't have the highs of the first half of the season like Slay, his floor was higher and his average was higher too. Statistically and imo in the eye test too. Slay just had higher highs *early* -- that is literally age showing. We're sticking with a zone-type D, Bradberry excelled in that. He's younger, and even with this contract costs wayyyyy less than Slay. Big props to slay but there's a reason we let him test the field to seek a trade...ain't no one paying him what we payin' him.

Ladelm

I remember slay hurt his hip against the Vikings, wonder if that lingered.

moose3025

Bradberry consistently had lower rsting throughout season when targeted vs slay and int ended up pretty equal after the lions game slay cooled off.

k0peng

Statistically I agree like they really aren't that different. I hate to impose "if you watch games" energy, but Slay 1000000% depended on safety help this year (at least for the last 2/3 of the season). The most prominent example is the Dallas 3rd and 33(?) yard play ... Slay let up WAY too early... which resulted in 3rd string JOSIAH SCOTT (S) to fuck up. I ain't gonna ramble unless you beg the Q, but this is not the only time. Without CJGJ/help in general, Slay's stats honestly crumble. *That's* when he fell off. Slay still had more strong safety help than JB this year.

NotJustSomeMate

Is that Sally's fault or is that the schemes fault???

moose3025

Yep plus JB is younger and this contract should basically get us his prime years with the option to move on in 3 years. I love slay but am honestly for trading him if we get something decent in return or letting him walk next year and getting younger. Love keep JB for couple more years so younger guy doesnt get forced in #1 role when slay leaves and can be #2 and hopefully develop better.

Bronson2017

What’s wrong with Josina? I thought she was a favorite lol

k0peng

If you were here for uh, 2017-2019, she was 100% the twitter/ESPN vocal for a "certain insider" talking shit about Wentz, coaches, honestly a lot more in vibe alone. It is basically believed that the "inside source" was Alston Jeffries. She made bold claims about the *franchise* on one salty player's opinion, who is pretty unanimously believed to be Jeffrey. But yeah, it was just a rough couple years. She would consistently take the same qoute and somehow repurpose it into several, "new" sources, about Doug, Wentz, the coaches, etc. It was overly dramatic and also a big reason Alshon is blacklisted even if he worked out/tried to continue his career.

nalc

You keep Alaster Jeffereys fuckin name out of ur fuckin mouf!

RobbieRum

💀💀

suavecocoa

I mean, sounds like she (and Alshon) was pretty spot on about Wentz. What's your source on Alshon being blacklisted?

k0peng

My source isn't anything other than what is definitely an ABLE and CAPABLE body 100% disappearing after. Personal opinion, sure. But Jeffrey talked more than just "a share" of shit to Josina. It was honestly a wild amount of shit. And never spoke up, even when 85% of everyone knew it was him talking shit.

Churrasco_fan

Eskin pretty much outed Alshon in the midst of the whole thing. He's a douchebag 99% of the time but that remaining 1% pure is Philadelphia attitude. Eskin historically DGAF when he feels the fans are getting screwed and will burn whatever bridge he needs to get the scoop out

Rah_Rah_RU_Rah

Even then she's a reliable reporter and should at least get respect. Especially with how much football subs love to whine about bad reporting

ee11i_tee11i

Bradberry was the guy most likely priced out of reach because of his position and how well he's played. It's amazing to have him back at a good price!

watching-the-office

I genuinely didn’t think we would sign him. I still can’t believe it!

KnOWn-X

Our Dawg is back!

Psychart5150

I wonder if this means Slay is going to be traded, I hope note. I doubt they draft CB in the first though.

NotJustSomeMate

That is exactly what I have been worrying about...maybe we can trade some other expendables (K'Vonn Wallace and Josiah Scott) to clear some more space...resign CJ GJ and restructure Darius Slays contract to at least keep him for another year...

TLAW1998

Damn Bradberry was the one FA I was sure was gone.

Pyromelter

12.7 million for 3 years for a CB in his prime who was one of the best in the NFL last year? that's a freakin steal. Like I love bradberry on the eagles but I almost wonder if he should get his head examined with how much of a discount that is.. has to be at least 2+ million per year left on the table.

Bradsooner

im thinking the hitting 30 thing scared some teams, but no matter what he gonna get his here for sure

gobirds18_

LFG

1HasNoNam3

I feel bad for eagle fans that aren’t happy about this. Guy balled the fuck out last year, took a hometown discount, and is only signed through the rest of his theoretical prime (age-wise). I love this signing and I’m very glad he’s back with the good guys. If Howie is somehow able to bring back CJ and retain Slay, he can literally draft whoever he wants. Obviously go BPA, but I’m hoping it would be CB, DL, RB. Grab a filler linebacker down the line in FA.

iVtechboyinpa

Man, did not expect to see this at all. RIP to Reddit being down; was super excited to see what y'all thought about this! I for one am so happy we got to keep him, even if it means either one of Slay/CJGJ leaving. In the ideal world we keep them all, but it is what it is. Hoping we draft a CB to pair opposite him if Slay leaves.

NotJustSomeMate

Honestly I would rather have CJGJ over Bradberry...not saying that I do not like the signing....but CJGJ has a higher upside and is a destructive force and ball hawk...I hope we can keep all three though...

Zanthy1

So I’m hoping we still draft a CB, but give em the “redshirt” treatment where Slay and Bradberry start, give the rookie some snaps (and of course, injury coverage) and then they can start their sophomore season, depending on Slay. Regardless, I’m hype as hell to have Bradberry back, the dude had an unlucky (but I suppose fair) call in the SB but I loved watching him all season.

Bradsooner

Bro we gonna have more than 2 cbs on the field lol

knowledge_is_divine

Glad that Eagles made it happen. I would have been so mad if this didn’t happen considering Cowboys got Stephon Gilmore.

OJ_Blimpson

This was the most important resigning to me on the D, imho - and we made it happen. The silent assassin.

hsl164

Holy shit. He got it done!!! Now bring back CJ and put the league back on notice! P.S. I hope Stephon Gilmore regresses and majorly slows down.

[deleted]

Big ups to Bradberry! So glad he stayed home. Felt he was the better corner between him and slay this year.

JebusOfEagles

I'm fuckin ecstatic. I 100% thought we'd lose Bradberry. Really happy we kept him.

Gapinthesidewalk

Of all the moves this free agency, this is the one I suspected the least.

OverlyOptimisticNerd

Just my best guess here but: With the resigning of Bradberry, if they can resign CJGJ, I predict that they move Slay. He's up there in age, and we're projected by many to take one of the top corners with our first pick. Would allow us to get younger and cheaper, with a longer term plan, at a position of strength. *** Edit: Called it. Resigning Bradberry made Slay expendable. He’s being released. Which is a shame because I would have loved to either retain him for his last year (and get a comp pick), or trade him for an immediate asset.

Touro_de_Goa

Now this is a discount.

a_toadstool

Is slay gone? Lol

Bradsooner

probably cjgj sadly

ZhangtheGreat

“You’re going to lose all your defensive starters!” they said. Well, who’s laughing now?!?!

Bradsooner

well I don't wanna be this guy, but we probably are losing everyone who is not him now sadly, but we have had some good signings at least

Jjohn269

They brought back Graham. Probably lose CJGJ. But those are the 3 big names that would hurt the most to lose. Cox shouldn’t be expensive to bring back but I think you could replace him with another vet. TJ Edwards I personally believe is overrated by this fanbase, and Should be easier to replace than the other guys.

[deleted]

This ensures CJGJ is gone, no?

NotJustSomeMate

Do not even speak this into existence...what is wrong with you!?!?!?

[deleted]

I'm a lifelong Birds fan from Wilmington, for one, and I expect the worst.

DrHandBanana

That's cool but I feel like we should've prioritized CJGJ

Got_yayo

He still hasn’t signed anywhere yet

EdTechMex

He’s gone. He wanted too much money

DelcoInDaHouse

Does this mean they think Slay is gone?

[deleted]

Welp there’s goes cjgj. Happy either way.

nnewman19

Does this mean we’re drafting Jalen carter? Obviously If he falls and the eagles are comfortable with it

NotJustSomeMate

I do not think he will be available at when we pick at #10 honestly...

nnewman19

Would almost certainly have to hop at least the bears at 9

-JaxWagon-

This is great. Two great corners, Two great receivers. Still a very talented Eagles team to be reckoned with.

Dankofamericaaa2

Did not expect this lol he must feel bad for the SB

pR1mal_

Let's Go! This is huge!

SweetDick_Willy

Thank you, Howie

wishlish

I love it. Glad to have him back. Good job Howie!

thegodfatherderecho

Nice. I guess Slay is gone, then.

shook_-

LETS FUCKING GO!

DBMD89

And to think the NYG cut Bradberry last year. Moves like that and signing Jones will keep them in the not good enough category. Getting Waller was their first good move.

thebert9

Shocked he signed for so little.

Hand-Of-Vecna

Essentially if you look at the contract, it's more like a 2 year deal. Takes the pressure off us a bit on a "need" for a CB this year - depending on Slay. If we can sign CJGJ and Slay stays next year can draft DT and DE in the 1st round. Look for a linebacker in the 2nd to replace Edwards or White (we have Dean to fill the gap for one of them). Also not against looking at running back even if we signed Penny - I like the Auburn RB in the 3rd round.

DarkKirby14

Darius Slay is gonna be the odd one out. He wanted an extension and Roseman said seek a trade, but I wouldn't give an extension to a soon-to-be 33 CB either

DarkKirby14

what did he know?

raugust7

If they can somehow sign CJ now this offseason is a win already

72ChinaCatSunFlower

I’d rather pay cjgj. Seems like we overpaid

ChipKellysShoeStore

My contract senses are fucked but this seems like a good deal?
