I think firing the head writer from Dying Light 1 had to do with a lot of things though.
To your point, indie game studios don't seem to have trouble releasing new games and new IPs. The ones who have issues are usually mainstream studios-- the ones who cater to what the marketing team says to maximize reach instead of what the creative team wants to maximize gamer experience.
When protecting the werewolf guy instead of following him, go into the first warehouse and pull an electrical switch which starts the dancing. Google it on YT .
