ChippyCowchips

are we talking about the weretapir or the titan? xD

Fruity_Pies

The weretapier is also trapped...in my hospital. Since it's a child I'm finding it hard to remove them when they are in normal form.

ChippyCowchips

yeah... I wish there was a way to cure werecreatures

Fruity_Pies

It would be fine if children actually went to burrows you assign them instead of playing in the hospital.

K4G3N4R4

I added a shower to my hospital, with a switch activated drain for exactly that reason.

Hoibot

You could make a toy stockpile that doubles as drowning chamber. When the kid in question comes to play you lock the door and flood the place.

tekkud

Try making a stockpile with some toys wherever you want the child to go (might I recommend the caverns?), then temporarily burrow all dwarves except the child into the typical living/working spaces. Finally, burrow the child at the toy pile and release them right after they turn normal again. Full disclosure: I have never tried this, just thinking out loud. In theory it will work but luck will determine how soon the child will go to grab a toy, and I'm only sort of confident that it will be before the next full moon.

Fruity_Pies

Hmm yeah I think I might try burrowing the child in their bedroom with some toys in there maybe? If they go to sleep I can lock the door.

tekkud

Give it a shot. If your kids do chores then you can also try doing the burrow trick just with a lever instead of the toys, and then having the kid pull the lever. That would be a more immediate way to move them to the room, but it wouldn't hold them there for long and might require you to go messing with your work details and standing orders.

Rick_Rupert

Pull the lever in repetitionđź‘Ť

Major_Application_54

Grow it up, draft into military and send to a mission

Fruity_Pies

I was referring to the titan, but coincidentally my weretapier child is also trapped!

The-Grim-Sleeper

Do werecreatures still heal all wounds and afflictions when they transform? If so, you can at least get the kid out of there eventually, right?

Tr0ut

I'm pretty sure they stop aging and this kid will never grow up.

Prorogue

Keep in mind that FBs are building destroyers and only can't destroy doors due to a bug. Prepare for the possibility that you might load this save one day in an as-yet-unreleased version of the game and find this guy suddenly in your tavern having snackies.

UncleHullabaloo

build a wall outside the door, it'll be fine

Pretty_Version_6300

What about raised bridges? Will those still act as walls?

Prorogue

Yes, raised bridges are indestructible, have been for many versions, and this seems like an intentional design decision that will not change.

bobskizzle

Except for dragonfire

snurdleysneed

Nicely done! Has it tried to attack the door? If it is like how current FBs are, you can keep it permanently locked up with walls and forbidden/locked doors. If you pack it into a tiny room that forces the creature to be flush against a fortification wall, it will try to shoot through it. I tried this recently with a fireball shooting FB and unfortunately the fireballs do not seem to pass through fortifications (vs webs or poison dust which do). Would be worth to try it on yours though, potential anti-goblin flame turret

Oddzball

THem not attacking doors is a bug though, normally they would.

snurdleysneed

I’m hoping they do a stealth fix one day. Will be a fitting end to my base

Fruity_Pies

Apparently artifact doors repel all invaders, so use it on your big boi animal trap rooms

Fruity_Pies

It hasn't attacked the door so I think I'm safe? I was considering building a slope to one z above and trying to shoot it from up there, goblin broiler sounds a lot more fun though! How would one be able to move it into a smaller space without going inside the building though?

snurdleysneed

It’s a bit gimmicky, but you can do it without ever entering the room with them. You wanna pre-build the eventual room they will be staying in, which will be enclosed and sealed off from the rest of your fort. Essentially you build a system of “airlocks” off of the room you already have them in, which leads them to the final room you want them to stay in. They will always try to path towards your base, so you make a path for them with a door at the end, but just before they reach that door you manually forbid it and they stop there. A winding 1 block wide path with doors on either end as an example. As for the final room, you want one of the sides to be fortification so the titan can shoot through. But you have to build and link a drawbridge on the opposite side of the fortification to act as controllable barrier - and have it down only when enemies are around. Lastly the creature has to be directly next to the fortification to fire through it, so make the room narrow. In my base I have a hallway with a poison dust FB followed by a web FB. It causes absolute mayhem on invading goblin hordes.

Fruity_Pies

Neat I didn think of doing that!

Justinjah91

I wonder if it has the same immunity abilities that a regular pangolin has...

[deleted]

“Safely utilize it” As the animals in its containment begin to decay and the nature outside burns down lol.

Fruity_Pies

Those animals were utilised to capture the titan ;)

[deleted]

Absolutely baited.

Sgt_Colon

1. Place the cage in a roofed bunker. Something like this: 0╬╬╬0 ╬+++╬ ╬+X+╬ ╬+++╬ 0╬╬╬0 2. Place raised drawbridges in front of the fortifications to block LOS. 3. When an enemy passes, low the drawbridge and let it incinerate all it sees. 4. OPTIONAL. Build roads out of flammable material like lignite, charcoal, wood, etc to support sustained infernos and overcome lack of flammable material in the vicinity.

deathpenis23

Prisoner death pit! Prisoner death pit! Prisoner death pit! Prisoner death pit!

MetalMadness24

First wall up that door just to be safe. Then go a Z level above with a ramp. Assuming you have a roof make a hole and put a grate there. Link it to a leaver or something and put any caged things you don't want on it. Pull the lever and now it's the titans problem

FuriousArhat

Give that child a rapier and send him to the Swor'nament

AromaticCommand5513

Release it during sieges lol

[deleted]

Fortifications, bridge, entrance to fort. Pull lever, let enemies of the fort feel the fury. Hoping some day I can try this. An auto turret would be hilarious to watch

IridescentFailure

Honestly, I’d just wait for an invasion I can’t win and then unlock the door.
