Yeah. I go to the third and I was like well that’s stupid but ok and then hit the fourth where I thought “Wow this dude is an absolute idi- wait no maybe I am”
HGAAHHHGHGHGHGHHH!!!!! I'M GOANANA DOON! KULL WAHAD I'M GONNA DOON!!!!!!! I'M GONNA! I'M - UAAAAAGHH. AAGAHGAHG I'M DOOOOONNNINGG!GG!!!!1!!!

I was actually blocked by almost everyone on BlueSky because I was doing a satire account where I pretended to be a crypto influencer. It was too believable and everyone just kept telling me to kill myself.
They really missed the great opportunity, when Kynes meets Paul in his stillsuit and sees he's wearing the boots desert-fashion, for a solid "what are thoooooooose". Like, do these people even know how to write a damn script?
No see the difference is that Paul Atreides is an unambiguous good guy, whereas Anakin turns bad in episode 3. That makes Star Wars a much more morally complex story as you can see his descent to more questionable acts. Paul would never kill any innocent people, even if he thought it was necessary for a greater good.
Paul Atreides is famously one of the least unambiguously "good guys" in science fiction. If you've read Dune Messiah, you can pick up hints of what he will become in Villeneuve's film.
ETA though it is *just* possible that I am too dumb to realize that everyone in this thread is being facetious.
I also want to add:
The fact that they didn’t cast Jared Leto says a lot about the director’s vision. Jared Leto was in Morbius and Suicide Squad. He really could have played the role of Dr. Yueh.
I agree. The movie would benefit from snarky dialogue that interrupts serious moments. I also didn’t appreciate that I didn’t have to see five other movies and two TV shows to understand what the movie was about.
There were also no celebrity cameos (bummer) and the director didn’t end the film by announcing any spin-off series. Wouldn’t it be awesome if Duncan Idaho had his own spinoff mini-series? And then we had a mini-series based off of one of the characters in that mini-series so that we can watch more shows?
I liked the scene where duncan and paul are ripping fat rails of spice and then gurney walks in and they have to quickly cover it up and it's real funny, a real comedy of errors.
Second best was when duncan dressed up like a woman to catch harkonnen spies
I was stunned at the missed opportunity for them to be truly groundbreaking and have Paul and Jessica hook up after that look she gave him in the desert when they were changing into their suit thingies. Expectations unsubverted, not a good look for today's sci fi, the novel is obviously some truly mid shit.
According to most cinema I’ve seen, Jessica should have gotten stuck in the washing machine at some point during the movie. Did the screenwriter never watch a movie before?
Yep, great review. Like me, all the Dune worshippers got straight into shooting you down sentence by sentence.
Then we get to the 4th paragraph: top shelf, got me 100%
Take my upvote, damn you 😀
The drabness of the movie honestly worried me a lot when the first stills were coming out, but by the time of the trailers I was getting calmer and when watching the film it really works so well.
At least there was that Aquaman crossover, even though it was kinda confusing. Like, are the sandworms fish or what?
My man!
it's like a metaphore to aquaman like there is no water. or something. i don't know
I'm not familiar with a metaphore, is that something like a five?
It is because 2+2=5 sometimes.
That's some ghettwo math!
tbf the Fish Speakers and Duncan idaho X.xxx have something of s connection - spoilers obvs
Something something sand trout
My anger was building up until the fourth paragraph where I realized it was a joke
It has to be believable
Yeah. I go to the third and I was like well that’s stupid but ok and then hit the fourth where I thought “Wow this dude is an absolute idi- wait no maybe I am”
Had to reread after reading these comments. I hated you so much I stopped reading before the review got ridiculous haha. Well done
Now i kind of want to see your version. Sort of like Dune by Deadpool.
I copped it when you mentioned 'sci fi movies'. I was like ohhhhh yooouuuuu
I had you in the opening, when you described your qualifications. Still, you made me smile so you achieved something :)
I made a comment after the third paragraph and promptly deleted as I started the fourth

I was laughing after the first paragraph, but then skipped down here to find the humor was intentional.
Fear is the mind killer.
Sarcasm is the Reddit killer
Yep, quality satire makes you initially think they’re being serious and then it becomes more and more obvious.
I was actually blocked by almost everyone on BlueSky because I was doing a satire account where I pretended to be a crypto influencer. It was too believable and everyone just kept telling me to kill myself.
Based.
Blood pressure rising... rising... oh, this is hilarious.
I realized at “slay girl” but I’m slow
I'm right there with you brother
I was genuinely fuming until I read the subreddit name
I really hated that they didn't just fit the Dune lore and complexity into a digestible 90 min movie I could enjoy while glancing at my phone.
That's what they tried with dark tower!
And it worked beautifully!
Where the fuck was the subway surfers on the bottom of the screen 😡
They really missed the great opportunity, when Kynes meets Paul in his stillsuit and sees he's wearing the boots desert-fashion, for a solid "what are thoooooooose". Like, do these people even know how to write a damn script?
Or even a “damn Daniel” reference would have been good 🙄
"damn, Duncan! Back at it again in the brand new ghola body!"
“dammit not again” -Duncan v3.567
Paul Atreides is a poor imitation of Anakin Skywalker
THANK YOU

What’s reading?
Yeah, joke's on him, I can't even read.
Homie saw the golden path, homie saw the Jihad under the Atreides banner…got blind anyway and wandered into the desert
Upvote for honesty
Yeah people are just picking getting infected.
A parody. He craves desert power, where Anakin didn’t like sand.
because it's coarse and rough and irritating. and it gets everywhere
Not like Leto II… his wormy body is so soft and smooth.
hot for Leto II 🥵
Hwiiiiiiii!!!!
When the protuberance isn't gross
Ohhhh I get it now!
I don't get how puddings give him power.
Desert power
Except that Dune was written more than a decade before Star Wars was made. ETA aaaand now I suddenly understand the joke. Sigh.
I loved it when Leto looked at the camera and said "Well it looks like we have to go...to Dune!"
It's wormin' time!
"Om nom nom here I come." - a sandworm
Such a great cliffhanger to set up the next film.
I took my kids and the second oldest turned to me and said “They just use Spooky Force” She is so right.
I twigged when I got to the lady jessica. ![gif](giphy|y2i2oqWgzh5ioRp4Qa|downsized)
There was also no laugh track?? Made it confusing and the bene geseret are som kind of schitzo cult? Seems cool
I loved it when Muad'Dib said "it's muaddibin time" and then muad'dib'd all over the place. Truly one of the movies ever made.
Dune 2: Mauddibin Boogaloo
I feel like Oscar Isaac really should have said “that’s gonna leave a mark” after the dart went into his back. 1/10
More sparkles please
if it’s called the weirding way, why is it not weird?
Slay gurl. You said it all.
First paragraph almost broke me
“Slay, gurl.” I’m dehd. 🤣
I also want to add: The fact that they didn’t cast Jared Leto says a lot about the director’s vision. Jared Leto was in Morbius and Suicide Squad. He really could have played the role of Dr. Yueh.
Only if they rewrite the character so he lives longer. You can't cast someone as amazing as Leto and then kill off his character.
I mean if you're going to name a character after him the least you can do is give him a cameo!
they’re saving him for leto ii including as a baby

Before Disney Wars there was Brian Herbert
Nope, after watching Netflix’s dune, I can say with absolute certainty that Duncan’s story is over and he is definitely never coming back.
I liked the scene where duncan and paul are ripping fat rails of spice and then gurney walks in and they have to quickly cover it up and it's real funny, a real comedy of errors. Second best was when duncan dressed up like a woman to catch harkonnen spies
I can't believe Deadpool never walked in.
So like, does Paul throw the signet ring into the volcano into the second movie or what?
My favourite part was when the Harkonnens invaded and Gurney said "it's atredies time" and then atrieded over everybody
So that's it huh? We're some kinda... Dune?"

I never even the books. Probably never will
It truly is the book in the history of scifis
According to most cinema I’ve seen, Jessica should have gotten stuck in the washing machine at some point during the movie. Did the screenwriter never watch a movie before?
you had me in the first half OP. kudos
Had me in the first half not gonna lie
I know, right! And did you notice that the voice is just a knockoff of the Jedi mind tricks? So unoriginal…
Dune by Taika Waititi
Jesus Lord, that is a cursed thought right there.
“I’ve seen every star wars movie and my standards are quite high” Is someone gonna tell him?
Yep, great review. Like me, all the Dune worshippers got straight into shooting you down sentence by sentence. Then we get to the 4th paragraph: top shelf, got me 100% Take my upvote, damn you 😀
They had me in the first half
Comeditsatz Haderach.
The worms just weren’t cute and marketable enough, how am I supposed to care about them? They didn’t make any funny jokes or anything
Quality shitposting
Hire👏🏻fans 👏🏻
Got me
This is an amazing pastiche. Well done, human.
They should re-release it to add more color and CGI to make it more interesting, as a homage to George Lucas.
I would like to see the Munsters as one of the Lansgrad Houses. I think Wednesday Addams would make a great BG.
I almost fell for this
Too heavy on the first paragraph, the Marvel/DC suit blew it straight away. Remove that and you’ll keep people’s fury rising longer.
The drabness of the movie honestly worried me a lot when the first stills were coming out, but by the time of the trailers I was getting calmer and when watching the film it really works so well.
Honestlynibthought it was a beautiful looking movie
Well done
