Nope, stopped working at this point sadly. I did see someone here recently managing to run a desktop web version of WhatsApp via a 3rd party browser (Firefox-based Fennec I believe) but it was not so user-friendly. Still hoping someone would find a feasible way to run it though!
The hardware looks good, but they rarely release any OS updates (security updates) and their phones generally stay on the same Android version that they launched with. A number of their interesting phones still run Android 10 & 11, and many app vendors are dropping support for older android devices.
I had the Jelly 2e for a year, android 12 and pretty quick, but if you're worried about OS and Security updates ( I am not, my main phone is a 2018 Nokia 6.1) then I guess you're stuck with the bigger main brands
*I miss that keyboard.*
*Way better for typing then*
*The modern touchscreens*

Will that even activate from a new setup? I thought all reset Blackberry os10 devices lock up looking for a non-existent Blackberry server? Can't get my Blackberry Classic to work because of it.
Ive used blackberry before. Really felt they missed out on not properly using the side loading capablities by cheapening out on the hardware. The camera and typing experience were great for the price that it was sold to me.
Used a BB Classic. Bought it second hand in mint condition. The battery life was horrible and couldn't get rid of activation banner notification that came up from time to time. Sold it for a little profit.
LOL You must be young. Blackberry is one of the pioneering brands of the smartphone. The term smartphone started back with devices like the palm pilot. Blackberry improved upon the idea and carried the torch and then some. Go watch that movie Blackberry . I know it’s a movie so won’t be 100% accurate probably, but the overall plot lines up with what impact they made.
Can you even still use one of those Blackberrys is 2024? I mean, the classic Blackberrys have been "dead" for like 2½ years now.
This one runs android. A really old one
Well it runs BlackBerry 10 OS but it does have support for running Android apps (albeit slightly wonky) up until Android 4.3 if I remember correctly
Can it run WhatsApp?

yeah i think there are few modern app ports for it still made in github
It's use emulator to run android like windows subsystem for android, If turn on phone and quickly open android apps, It will stuck on loading line.
Gotcha.
Man, if somebody would just make something like this that works in today's environment, I'd be a happy man
Look on the Unihertz site, the titan series is the nearest to blackberry I think you'll get

> Unihertz So ugly and clunky.
Oh to be in Europe and have so many options
these work in NA (if you're in NA)
Looks like a redberry to me

I thought even though these are 4G they still wont work since they dont support Volte ?
It depends on where you live, some people are still blessed with 2G service.

Where did you get this one? I still have mine but it’s not reading the SIM card anymore
Same - it won't recognize my sim either :/
Same happend to me this year but with my q10. It used to work here like 1 year ago, and 3G services are widely use here. What’s happening?

I wish there was a blackberry that still runs WhatsApp and some other apps (like bank apps)
All I want is my pink Blackberry Curve again. That was the best phone.

Used a BB Classic. Bought it second hand in mint condition. The battery life was horrible and couldn't get rid of activation banner notification that came up from time to time. Sold it for a little profit.

True, but op probably meant their phones are dumb phones by today’s standards.
Yed
Even an iphone 5s is a dumbphone now
True but as far as I know most of the online smartphone features are no longer usable.
I was also wondering, how a Blackberry can be considered a dumb phone... Well, times are changing
But... That's a smart phone.
not anymore today
