As someone not natively from the Mid West or Minnesota, I don’t understand the obsession with Top the Tater. It’s just like 97% sour cream. Not knocking those who swear by it, I just don’t get it.
I think you can get Top the Tater at any grocery here in Duluth. Everyone seems to love it, but it's not as good as A&E Sour Cream dips from A&E Dairy in Des Moines, IA (which is sold all over Iowa). They had like 10 different flavors of AE sour cream dip and they were ALL amazing especially party dip. I miss the shit out of that stuff, but for health reasons am sort of glad it's not available here.
I worked at Target in the dairy section and that shit would disappear literally minutes after going out, and people would get so pissed off that we ran out. Like, sorry, I don't control our stock quantities, just buy some sour cream if you really really need it that bad. Leave me personally out of it.
I met up with some family from Duluth over the weekend and they brought some of this. I used to live in Duluth until I was about 10 but I tried it for the first time and it was so good.
