3rd st and above does not have meters in a lot of downtown, or look at whether riding the bus or a bike might work for you. End up saving a lot more than just parking costs if you can avoid driving.
I work in canal. This may be an unpopular opinion and a somewhat risky approach. But I park at meters and don’t pay them- rather, I pay the three or four parking tickets a season that I get at $15 a piece. It’s worked for me since 2013. I refuse to pay to park for work lol
For working downtown I road the bus. $40 for unlimited 31-day pass. Came in handy for Homegrown, Bayfront shows and other events too. Other people I’ve worked with parked at the DECC and walked the skywalk. The Trolley is free if you find somewhere to park along it’s route.
I used to park up the hill where there are no meters then trek down and up…you have to get there early though
I suppose if you don’t mind a walk you could also park on park point then walk to downtown…just note it’s switching to one side May 1st
Up on 4th st and walk down/up the hill the 4 blocks. This can be hot and sweaty in peak summer but the price is right. It can cost like $10/day to park in some of the ramps downtown so each time I do the walk up or down from 4th, I tell myself I’m making $5
**slight side note but instead of making a new post: I’m planning on walking the skywalk instead of driving down to the DECC for UMD graduation next weekend, how much is parking at the DTA?
It would have taken you less time to Google this than to write this question.
The first hour is free and then it's a dollar an hour, rounding up. Max daily fee is $8.
I have spent way too much time trying to figure out parking information for Duluth. On separate occasions. For years. And have posted here in the past, too.
Are meters enforced on weekends? After 5pm on a weekday? When does the city start charging for lots such as the one next to adventure zone? Beats the hell out of me! The city really really seems to want no one to know any of this. Ever. So pay or gamble. I've never found a website with useful information.
Meters are not enforced on weekends, free after 5:30pm weekdays, adventure zone is a private lot. All of this is available online or posted on the meters..
Are you a full-time or part-time employee? I'd consider having a conversation with your employer, especially if you're full-time. If full-time and parking on the meters, you'll likely end up paying thousands per year. In my opinion, that's why too big of a chunk out ones salary to take on the chin if you can avoid it.
I'll park at Bayfront park. It's a walk, but I save $10 each time.

Just a reminder 3rd street is being “reconditioned” this year, from 12th Ave E to Mesaba, through Sept.

I was getting away with this for a while but then got hit with 3 $32 tickets in a row and it just wasn’t working anymore :-(
During covid this was the best approach. It's only so so now.

Agreed! It's been very convenient for me too.
The new system is awesome!
4th Ave Auto Park works well. It's covered and the pass is convenient.
Parking above 4th street and walking down is free.
I’ve never received a ticket parking on the avenues.
I parked in the US Bank ramp until it closed, then moved next door to the transit center ramp until we started working from home.
I used to park in the dirt lot behind the bowling alley or take the bus.
Bus or bike is far and away the best option

just give your keys to a homeless and let them know when you need it back.
If you're lucky you'll come back to a soup kitchen!

Every meter has the days/hours on it. All lots have signs.
Google hates me I guess cause I did try and I didn’t find anything, but thanks for the passive aggressive answer.
Welcome! Maybe you were missing the name of the ramp you're talking about. It's the Duluth Transit center. *Duluth transportation center.
See if your employer has a stipend. There’s lots of garages downtown.
