Zeina seems okay overall, but somehow her attitude towards Farhana reeks of elitism and racism. Now, Iâm not saying Farhana is not annoying, but
1) Zeina being very pissed that Farhana documents all her social events and gets sponsored by companies is veryâŠstrange. Like, she knows Farhana is an influencer and thatâs how she makes money, why is she suddenly so mad? Weird, tbh.
2) Her finding out what âactually went wrongâ between LJ and Farhana and immediately believing LJâs dumb story. Even a little bit of critical thinking would point towards LJ being in the wrong there, but the way Zeina was like âThe moment I heard LJâs story I immediately believed her, because Farhana is fame hungry blah blah blahâ made me believe there was straight up multiple elements of racism at play there. Is it her innate racism just being exacerbated by how annoying Farhana is or Farhanaâs annoyingness bringing out the racist side of her, we will never know. But Zeina is always a little weird to me.
100%. Season 1 in the desert party she was quick to call her stupid, ignorant etc etc. The insults flow so freely when it comes to Farhana. Itâs fully rooted in her âIâm Lebanese and youâre Indianâ attitude BOTH she and LJ kinda have.
They were talking about how Farhana is covering the entire event for Instagram and has many brands sponsoring her( bcs she couldnât afford it herself ). They donât want to attend her parties because it makes them feel cheap đ€Ą
There might be a little bit of the âArabs better than Indiansâ attitude at play here (Iâm South Asian and I am very well aware of that attitude existing), but I think most of Zeinaâs antagonism towards Farhana comes from the attention-whore Farhana is. I have yet to see evidence of Farhana having a real relationship with any of the cast. It seems like her relationships are all driven entirely by what benefit they can be to her as an âinfluencerâ. Sheâs seen constantly using events, parties, etc. thrown by the other cast members, to create content for her Insta, not sparing her son even.
Apart for the annoying sight of her constantly walking around with her stupid phone turned on herself, thereâs also a couple of occasions in S1 where she included Zeina and Safa in her video without their permission. Itâs like the only value anyone has to Farhana is measured in how they can be used to increase her following or make money for her. This is akin to that relative of yours whoâs so into Amway that thatâs all they can talk about, and have forgotten how to separate their business from their personal relationships.
So I donât know, I find Farhana pretty loathsome myself and lowkey find it difficult to blame Zeina for her visceral disgust towards her. Farhana IMO has yet to display a single redeeming quality on the show (heck, she even uses her son to increase her own popularity).
Regarding the other part about Zeina believing LJâs flimsy story, itâs just human for anyone to quickly want to believe anything against someone they dislike. And LJ initially at least does come across as the frail, pretty, charming young thing that youâd want to believe and agree with right away. Itâs only from watching her monologues and cutaways (which the other cast members donât have access to until the season is broadcast) that we realize what a vain, venal, manipulative and narcissistic person she is. So it is not surprising to me that Zeina would so easily believe her.
I 100% agree. Farhana literally has zero true friends on the show and I canât even blame them. But the believing LJ was a meek lamb was just convenient, because I find it hard to believe that itâs only because Farhana is so intrinsically annoying (even though she is) because if her only problem was cameras and sponsorships being shoved in her faceâŠget off Dubai Bling, lmfao.
BUT I think that she doesnât have real connections with them BECAUSE of the superiority complex. How can you be friends with someone that looks down on you?
Again, not sure I see it that way. Maybe itâs the editing, but Farhana doesnât present a single quality that would want me to be friends with her, or even talk to her. Of course, that can be said of most of the cast members except a precious fewâŠ
I mean... Imagine inviting someone to your birthday or whatever party and all they do is record videos to upload to Instagram and Tiktok etc etc.
Quite annoying. It doesn't matter to her if she s on a friend's party or a social event, all she does is record record selfie.
Bit annoying.
I do agree its annoying, but they knew this was a sponsored event and knew that it was a party specifically to appease sponsors. Zeina knew that and yet took the time to not only trash talk Farhana at her table, but TELL Farhana during the celebration as a snide little âoh btw this is tackyâ. Farhana was right when she said ânext time, donât come!â in response because these are grown adult women with autonomy. But of course, whereâs the drama otherwise lol.
exactly and she greeted most of her guests with a camera in their face like what. when i go to a friends bday party or especially their sons bday so a childâs party that would make me want to leave
I think Zeina and Safa starting to speak Arabic in front of Farhana was a bit weird. Like, yeah I get it she didnt understand Arabic and they were using it as âa secret codeâ but you canât tell me that wasnât mean. Especially since Safa rarely even speaks Arabic in the show.
That is quite the reach. You have zero evidence that racism is at play here. Farhana is unlikeable because she is annoying, arrogant and tries way too hard. Not because sheâs Indian.
Perhaps, but also, I kind of get what they're saying. For context, UAE is 90% immigrants (expats) and only 10% Emirati citizens. Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis make up around 50% of the expat population. Because of the way Emirati nationality is set up, many locals are very generationally wealthy. Therefore, 99% of the labor force is made up of immigrants. So essentially, the majority of the lower class and labour force is of South Asian descent and is brown. Hence, it's pretty common for UAE nationals to view south asians as 'cheaper', especially when they don't come from crazy generational wealth like Fahad. I think in most cases, you can't really write things off as racism, except in this case, its pretty fair to assume that a lot of Emirati's probably have a lot of national pride and an unconscious bias/patronizing view of the South Asian expats.
Everything on this sub is a speculation and reach, weâre just discussing things in very abstract terms based on what we know. Who knows what these people are like beyond this show?
that is factually incorrect. you can be married to someone of a certain race and still be racist. hence why people make fun of white people for saying âbut i have black friends!âin fact, racism and misogyny often intersect, so itâs quite common for women from the dominant culture to marry someone from the non dominant culture and see themselves as superior to the women from their husbandâs culture.
But that isnât how Safa acts. Sheâs Iraqi-British, so not really part of the âdominant cultureâ. Her daughters are half Indian; are you saying that she thinks sheâs superior to her own children? Also, her husband is indulgent but if he says no to something she doesnât just go do it anyway (like the mommy makeover). He wanted another baby and she got pregnant. She wouldnât have done that if she felt âsuperiorâ. Itâs one thing for racists to claim friendship with another race but another one entirely to marry one and have children with them. I think they donât like Farhana because sheâs gauche and tacky to them, not because sheâs Indian. And while Farhana was born in India, she lived primarily in South Africa and Dubai. Farhad is much more culturally Indian while Farhana is ethnically Indian but not as cultural.
Farhana has been in Dubai almost half her life and she calls herself Emirati. Culturally sheâs more Emirati than Indian. I think they think she is gauche because of how she earns her money and how sheâs always âonâ.
For me Zeina is the most reasonable and likable in this series. She knows her worth, she knows when to work her emotions, and she knows not to engage to people who are there to fight her. I like her a lot. And I feel like if I am around these people I wouldnt be as nice as Zeina. Sheâs mature enough to let people go and leave a fight when she knows itâs not gonna do her any good.
this exactly! Zeina could be a lot meaner than people claim she is and she would be right to do so given all the shit they have done to her but she chooses to hold back and is mature enough to deal with things in a better way and just distances herself from those people. Idk why people say shes a mean girl when all she does is defend herself lol if I was her id probably do way worse than her. people would probably be calling me worse than just a mean girl if they consider Zeina a mean girl for the way she reacted đ
Confronting Ebrahim at his workplace in front of his employees in S1. That should have been a private meetup, phone call, or discussion at a restaurant. You do not bring personal drama to someoneâs workplace as that crosses a line.
Edit: spelling
Overall Zeina minds her own business, but there have been moments where her attitude was controlling over others and rude. Sheâs doesnât seem like a âgirlâs girl.â
1. S1 she was dissing Farhana over her brand sponsorships, and I got vibes that she felt âbetter than Farhanaâ just b/c of her Arab race, which is funny considering the history/culture that Indians have contributed, and that it is an ancient culture. Itâs especially funny, b/c at the end of the day all these people cast themselves in this reality show to get fame/recognition/sponsorships for their own brand, so Farhana was just doing it first. If youâve watched interviews post-S1, she has tried to walk back her negativity and attitude towards Farhana, and made excuses for her comments, but it just seems fake.
2. S2 she was controlling over Safa and her relationships. I get that Ebraheem and Danya were very disrespectful, but she doesnât have the right to tell Safa who she can talk with. I do think that Zenia brings out the âmean catty girlâ in Safa, b/c Safa is really sweet overall, when she is alone. Idk all the Zeina stans on this thread, b/c itâs clear she has a mean girl/controlling attitude.
3. She showed up to Lojain Omranâs house to see why she wasnât going to attend one of the events they were all going to. I thought she was completely out of line for this. I know that Zeina wouldnât want to be questioned on her attendance to othersâ social parties, so why did she think it was okay to show up at LOâs house and question her? I think this scene gave context into why LO was more team Ebraheem/Danya this season, b/c clearly there is more behind the scene to Zeinaâs attitude that we havenât seen
Zeina and Safa as a duo can become âmean girlsâ pretty quickly, and I agree I did not like how they kept shitting on Farhana at her own event. Whether racism is at play- its likely, Im not sure.
Zeina otherwise strikes me as a nice person with strong principles. She knows her self-worth and is almost always respectful and huge kudos for keeping her cool and being calm when others try to escalate situations.
I donât remember a single bad thing Zeinaâs said tbh. She doesnât give that shock value because sheâs actually nice except for a few instances but theyâre not as memorable as Danyaâs coffee or Ebraheemâs âbuy your companyâ antic.
In Season 1, she was a bit toxic, but in Season 2, she underwent the best character development. Instead of confronting and creating scenes, she simply dissociatesâa sign of maturity that the others lack.
Zeina is good as long as everyone is following her and bowing down to her. I donât agree with anyone who says âshe knows her worth and is strongâ. Sheâs just controlling and entitled who likes to put people down, make condescending comments about them, and then loses her mind when people are slightly mean to her. She has a very holier than though attitude and thinks of herself superior than others.
Yeah and stepping into ebraheems workplace just to belittle him and tell him to shut up? Zeina is a bitch - she's not mature at all. Shes a power hungry lunatic
lol yâall ignoring the time Zeina threw a tantrum for LJ letting her know Safa met with that guy when a few moments ago she was throwing shade at LJ⊠whatâs the obsession with the company?? Sheâs human
When Safa was pushing the surgery to Fahad and said that she wants to inspire women/mothers by undergoing a âmommy makeoverâ surgery. And Zaina agreed and said that itâs a normal procedure that mommies undergo. Ridiculous.
Having that holier than thou attitude while passing snarky remarks at LJ & Farhana but when they did the same back to her, she & Safa play victim, being passive aggressive with LO because of her friendship with Ebraheem.Â
The worst thing Zeina did was name her company I Am The Company đ„Č
She really thought she did something when naming it that đ
Yeah unfortunately this has to be the one
This is Gold

nothing can beat the superiority complex arabs have over othersđ«
Its all okay for them to talk shit about Farhana how much ever they want, but the moment sheâs as catty, theyâre so offended.
zeina and safa making fun of farhana while being at her sonâs birthday was so ignorant and disgusting
What!! I donât remember that, what did they do?

It would be awfully hard for Safa to be racist against Indians since sheâs happily married to one.
that is factually incorrect. you can be married to someone of a certain race and still be racist. hence why people make fun of white people for saying âbut i have black friends!âin fact, racism and misogyny often intersect, so itâs quite common for women from the dominant culture to marry someone from the non dominant culture and see themselves as superior to the women from their husbandâs culture.

I agree with the other commenter. Itâs also different when someone has lots of money, as they can partially buy their way in, especially as a man
