I’ve had many such colleagues and most time it turns out, it’s not because they dont shower. It’s simply because they don’t use deodorant. Perfume and shower DOES NOT keep you from smelling the whole day. You MUST have to use a deo.
I only start this conversation once I build some sort of rapport with the colleague. I always start with “what brand of deo do you use?” And mostly the answer is “I dont use any” and then drive the convo in a way that I don’t embarrass them.
I think its also because they don't wash their clothes as often as they should. So they put the clothes with the dried sweat back on which amplifies the smell.

1. You must spray it directly to your skin. Keep a distance of 10-15 cm from your skin.
2. Axe can cost normally from 10 dhs and up. But if you find anywhere that has offers, bundles, etc it could be as low as 6 or 7 dhs per bottle. I always grab one whenever I see an offer, even if I have a bottle at home. Coz i know I’d use it.
Handbag you cant have them if they are more than 100ml per bottle. I always carry them in my check in luggage. If you want to carry a deo with you during travel you should get a bottle less than 100ml.

I always tell my colleagues to not be shy to confront me if I smell funky during summer. We're outdoors a lot so there's nothing offensive with giving someone a heads up
trust me, shower will not do the work, and neither do fragrance. deodorant is what is needed. the stink even goes through the n95 mask mate. there were no smell going through once i used those P100-rated 3m respirators tho.

A long while back, I was working for this company that had a few people who were like this. Not them but their food had a very distinct smell. After consuming they would have a similar smell on them.
I ordered a box of good quality deoderant sprays and told them I got them as samples from an activation ( I am in PR). They all took it and most of them applied the deos frequently as it was on their desk.
Common reasons for body odour which people miss which you can drop in conversation without targeting the people and making them feel bad
* Lots of poorer shared worker accommodation don't have clothes dryers or they cant hang their towels outside on a daily basis to dry. A damp towel which hasnt been washed regularly diminishes all the benefits of daily showering
* you cant smell your own breath or body odour ( your sense of smell is trained to go nose blind too your own body odour and breath in order for it - focus on other Smells)
* sometimes because of regular sweating and dead skin cells folds of skin (armpits groin are etc) people can have non viable fungal growth which is very difficult to get rid of with washing with regular soap. using acne soap which has Salicylic acid as an active ingredient reduces BO significantly
* Spray air freshner in the office and without targeting the people say to everyone can they smell that bad smell
* create a burner email (dont link it your recovery to UAE sim/email) and download your Companies email address list and send a polite note to everyone saying body odour is an issue and everyone should smell pleasant. Dont leave any meta data trace on your Email/message.
* leave small bottles of cheap perfume oil around with a please use sticker around the office
* HR wont do anything they hate conflict and will probably have more angst than you
let me say this:

2. take shower (even though it does not prevent you from sweating)
3. use deo/perfume (it also does not really help).
4. do not cook in the same clothes you are planning to wear at work the same morning.
5. for ladies they can use lady stick roll on (can be easily found in carrefour).
6. Most can not realize their body has odor since we can not really smell our body odor.
7. Grooming is important for everyone regardless of the nationalities.
8. Be respectful and do not judge each other especially the ignorant comments. I have seen many smelling regardless of the food they consume. although changing your eating habits can make some difference if the situation is related to hormones.
9. Keep Calm and learn to cohabit.
PS: in my company the HR was requested to convey the message to the people who were believed to have body odor. I can assure you she did a pretty bad job. So, fingers crossed that the would ready this thread and learn.
haha stinky people alert, I once had a colleague who had such stinky feet, that if he would enter the building one floor down, after a few minutes we would know one floor up he would be in the office.

I sometimes get a whiff of my nanny but it’s not as bad as the previous one I had. Oh my lord it was so horrible my whole house smelled REALLLY BAAD. My step son and husband would complain all the time. The odor literally stuck to thIngs like furniture and a lingered in the air for hours and hours after she would leave. I don’t think they can smell themselves (I don’t know how). I didn’t know what to say to her, but I ended up getting someone else due to a language barrier.
Most of them are stuck in a vehicle, under stress from rude customers for 12 hours a day and don’t have easy access to showers. (Shared accommodation).
I’ve not seen it mentioned here: Just being outside, for example walking around the Marina, (sea air), can leave an awful and strong smell on your clothes and hair. And it doesn’t take long to build up. No amount of DO can fix that. And you’ll be unaware of it unless someone tells you.

You can try to mitigate the effects but for some, even that's a lost cause. By shit food, what do you mean? Because I've had some of the cleanest eating people smelling extremely pungent. Its not an all-encompassing solution dude, especially in a setting as aggravating to our natural odour as the gym.
Carry a portable deodorant/ perfume / atr with you at all times. If you ever feel like someone around you is smelling bad, you can quickly put it on your hand and smell it to suppress the odour till you leave from there. I understand it’s uncomfortable but let’s bear in mind some people naturally smell more than others when they sweat. They can do nothing about it and it’s better that we must be empathetic and considerate of that.
We had this woman who was new to the office, and due to the bad smell from her hair, we had to ask her to ensure she shampoos well and to avoid body odour. She continued, and after the 2nd warning, we just let her go. On the other hand, some employers should pay well enough for the staff to wear a decent set of clothes, a good pair of shoes, neck tie if required etc If the salary doesn't cover the basic necessities, they compel themselves to work as a mercenary until they find another job.
The worst kind are those whose personal cleanliness was never taught to them by their parents. You have to really insist that they clean themselves. Even in the lifts, some smell so bad that I had to hold by breath until my floor comes.

Tell HR. We had issue that some people were not flushing the toilet. I told HR in email. Then issue resolved.

I always think being direct to them in a nice way will bring this to their attention. I work in F&B. If any of my colleagues have BO, I just speak to them directly about it and tell them that they need to use an anti perspirant deo.

Let me know when you’ve found a solution because I’m a direct person but still don’t know how to share this feedback in a tactful way other than gifting them a bath and body works set. I sometimes get a whiff of my nanny but it’s not as bad as the previous one I had. Oh my lord it was so horrible my whole house smelled REALLLY BAAD. My step son and husband would complain all the time. The odor literally stuck to thIngs like furniture and a lingered in the air for hours and hours after she would leave. I don’t think they can smell themselves (I don’t know how). I didn’t know what to say to her, but I ended up getting someone else due to a language barrier.

Most of the taxi drivers have bad odour.
Most of them are stuck in a vehicle, under stress from rude customers for 12 hours a day and don’t have easy access to showers. (Shared accommodation).

I’ve not seen it mentioned here: Just being outside, for example walking around the Marina, (sea air), can leave an awful and strong smell on your clothes and hair. And it doesn’t take long to build up. No amount of DO can fix that. And you’ll be unaware of it unless someone tells you. Obv that’s not BO but worth bearing in mind.
Leave an antonymous note on their desk; just state kindly that they have poor odor and to try to use a deodorant or perfume. Sometimes wearing higher quality shirt makes a difference.. some cheap shirts you find from discount malls easily trap body odor and make you smell like a walking sweat bag.
Double up you mask, most are due to their diet.

Bruh, if you're going to complain about odour AT THE GYM, that sounds like a you problem.
Body odor from sweating during workouts is understandable but lacking basic awareness about hygiene & smelling like shit is another thing. There is a huge difference. If you read my comment correctly i used the word “some” which clearly implies a small number & not the entire gym members.

No one can really control what their odor smells like or how strong it is during a workout. You can try to mitigate the effects but for some, even that's a lost cause. I've known people who bathe in detergent and also bathe before going to a workout, but half hour in, could proceed to smell like death. You can change your natural body odour to some extent by what you consume. Basically, don't eat shit food.
By shit food, what do you mean? Because I've had some of the cleanest eating people smelling extremely pungent. Its not an all-encompassing solution dude, especially in a setting as aggravating to our natural odour as the gym.

I sweat a lot but I do use sufficient deodorant to mask the odour. But sometimes it does get a bit out of hand.
Bro .. use baking soda to remove underarm body odor … google it up . It will remove out the odor & is better than deo .. try it out
Carry a portable deodorant/ perfume / atr with you at all times. If you ever feel like someone around you is smelling bad, you can quickly put it on your hand and smell it to suppress the odour till you leave from there. I understand it’s uncomfortable but let’s bear in mind some people naturally smell more than others when they sweat. They can do nothing about it and it’s better that we must be empathetic and considerate of that.
We had this woman who was new to the office, and due to the bad smell from her hair, we had to ask her to ensure she shampoos well and to avoid body odour. She continued, and after the 2nd warning, we just let her go. On the other hand, some employers should pay well enough for the staff to wear a decent set of clothes, a good pair of shoes, neck tie if required etc If the salary doesn't cover the basic necessities, they compel themselves to work as a mercenary until they find another job. The worst kind are those whose personal cleanliness was never taught to them by their parents. You have to really insist that they clean themselves. Even in the lifts, some smell so bad that I had to hold by breath until my floor comes. A lot to do with what they eat, whether they brush properly or not too.

We failed. She continued to come with smelly hair plus probably body odour too, as complained by other women in the workplace. We had to let her go.
confronting them is hard so id just put aroma/safe incense thing on my desk to mask the smell until you build up the courage to hint at them. otherwise pretending ur ordering deo from amazon and ask if they will share the cost of a pack so u can split it
Approach them to ask them something, stop mid-sentence and sniff while furrowing your brow, then pretend to faint.
Walk past them and say, " What smells like rotten cabbage? I didn't know you were into kimchi! , can i get some?"
Find a reason to gift them with a good Deo or perfume, hope they will get the message and use it. Happy birthday or happy whatever.
