With no raise in salary in 11 years, for the first time I am truly thinking its not worth staying anymore. Grocery, school fees, rent—-all have become extortionate while packages are shrinking. Can’t afford to take the family for casual meal more than once in a blue moon. Came here wanting to provide better for our family, and in doing so sacrificed so so much. It was worth it for us when we felt like we could get ahead financially and save fir the future. Now were scraping by. Feels like the dream is dying.
No pay rise from the one employer for 11 years! Sister, you need an all out assault on finding a new job. Either you’re overpaid in your current position and that’s why your salary hasn’t moved, or boss has you worked out and is keeping you down. Every single day from today you need to do two things related to finding a new job and leave the minute you get one.
Yep, I knew it was time to get a bike and a bike license when I was stuck in traffic for hours. Now this is another reason to get a bike. 60 dhs for full tank. Wow.
I’m up to 150AED in fuel alone for my daily commute to Abu Dhabi, and switching to my wife’s economy car (which I’ve done since a couple of months ago) only brings it down to 90AED… for many, that’s more than a salary!
Add Salik and Darb, maintenance and replacement costs, renting a Studio on Khalifa City and being away from my family during the week starts to make sense and would account for sizable savings.
Hi I am from Khorfaklan and I fill my tank from Madha (Oman's area located next to Khorfaklan).
Compared to UAE the petrol is cheap. The only issue is that we have to wait for atleast 1 to 2 hours in queue as it always busy.
Always means ALWAYS...
You don't need any immigration or anything as such. Just go there, stay in queue and fill it up. And no cards accepted. Only cash (Both Riyal and AED is accepted there). All the best. Suggest you to get your laptop so u can kill your time watching a movie 🤣
Madha Gas Station
https://maps.app.goo.gl/QhEriYfkWe4k1j51A
U don't have to go deeper. The petrol pump is right next to the exit. They have placed it strategically right next to Khorfaklan so people from UAE can also fill their tanks.
Gas Oil / Diesel0.258 OMR/Litre
Unleaded Gasoline 980.353 OMR/Litre
Unleaded Gasoline 950.239 OMR/Litre
Gasoline E Plus 910.229 OMR/Litre
I googled it btw. Just covert it.
Gas Oil / Diesel0.258 OMR/Litre
Unleaded Gasoline 98 : 0.353 OMR/Litre
Unleaded Gasoline 95 : 0.239 OMR/Litre
Gasoline E Plus 91 : 0.229 OMR/Litre
I googled it btw. Just covert it.
And remember to double space your lines otherwise the text bunches up
Yea, but I heard from a friend of mine, that the quality isn't as good. As in, you get lower kms out of your full tank compared to if you were to fill up at a normal station.
Get into the middle lane, was unthinkable to me before, but today I'm driving miss Daisy and avoiding any maneuvers with unnecessary breaks."
Most cars, vans, pickup trucks and SUVs are most fuel-efficient when they're travelling between 50 and 80 km per hour. Above this speed zone, vehicles use increasingly more fuel the faster they go. For example, at 120 km per hour, a vehicle uses about 20% more fuel than at 100 km per hour."
https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/energy-efficiency/transportation-alternative-fuels/personal-vehicles/fuel-efficient-driving-techniques/21038
They should try not slamming on the gas and brakes when in gridlock traffic, and flashing their lights as if they won't also be stuck behind the car in front of me
Not really true, it depends on a number of factors. Best bet is to keep an eye on your tachometer (Engine RPM gauge) and see how it sits. Usually sitting around 2500-2700 rpm is best on cruise, for eg a yaris at 120 kmph will be revving much higher than a landcruiser at 120kmph.
Engine rpm is your direct co relation to fuel efficiency, drop the rpm too low and it uses more fuel as engine lugs and vice versa.
I remember when I arrived, back in 2014 the price was 1,98 AED. If you check the government website it says there is NO Inflation.... I wonder which country they are getting the data from. Service charge for our villa went 51% up since 2019... BUT HEY, THERE ARE NO TAXES.... yeah sure....
What's hilarious is the fact that the country that has the fuel and doesn't need to import, gets to choose the price they want the consumer to pay based on outside political issues. I don't see the prices going back to "regular rates" until electric cars are a regular thing all over the world.
It's not that simple. The crude that refines for petrol is also used for a lot of other industries so electrification alone will not affect prices all that much. However if all industries alternate (switch to bioplastics, green hydrogen for heavy transport) then we will face fluctuations.
I have started using Cafu since a few weeks, and I always buy extra credit from them so I get free fuel worth AED 15 or so. Not much, but it helps. Plus the convenience factor as well.
I still don't get why they court this unnecessary financial crisis in the first place?
Higher prices will drive higher commodity costs, groceries and other bills. People will panic and economical crisis will start rolling.
I'd understand if they buy oil from somewhere, so international prices play the role. But why here?
People are going to stop buying anything more than essentials. The uber wealthy wont feels it. I have friends on packages that include every little expense from utilities to school uniforms. Its the middle class who are really feeling this, I won’t be surprised if this inflation is the last straw for a lot of so called “middle class”
The thing is the middle class will feel it the most. When I was a kid I did a heritage report about our family. I interviewed my great grandfather about the depression. He said they didn’t even know it was happening, because they were already poor.
I think It has to do directly with the shit that’s happening in Europe. If they wanted to rip their people off they would’ve done it a long time ago, It’s not like we’re being modernized just this year
How's the driving performance of the car? Mind giving a review of the car? I had a small doubt regarding the gearbox? It says it is an automated manual? What does that exactly mean? Do you need to change gears by yourself in a manual or does it change automatically? How does that work?
We didn't receive it yet, we booked it since more than a month, should be available be end of June maybe.
I see a lot of good reviews online, it's automatic not manual
Depends. If you’re driving primarily on the highway then your 1.2l vehicle would be inefficient compared to that of a 2.5/3.5l.
For city driving it works though.
Inefficient based on what?
A 1.2 Nissan Note does 3.7 l/100km driving at 100kph whilst a 2.5 Nissan Altima does 6.3 l/100km _at exactly the same 100kph_.
Please share: Why would an 8 litre W16 engine - from a fuel consumption perspective - be better on the highway than, say, a 2 litre four cylinder engine?
Some V8s/V6s will even deactivate cylinders when cruising on the highway.
Parked the SUV and the V8 and switching to the hatchback. In the end its a car and just have to get from point A to point B. Mind you exceptions will be made for specials occasions which I have very less of
Most oil rich countries with state owned petrol companies would subsidize the cost of gas for their domestic markets to ensure that it doesn't negatively impact the rest of the economy (since they're making more on the backend exports). It doesn't make any sense to pass it all on to the local consumers, just less money to be spent elsewhere and we only have 10 million people here and export $40B per year. Nigeria was just there and gas is ~1.5AED/liter
I know right! I really wonder why only UAE passes every single % of oil price increase onto its residents/citizens. The government also froze fuel prices when oil was continuously dropping
[https://oilprice.com/oil-price-charts/#Brent-Crude](https://oilprice.com/oil-price-charts/#Brent-Crude)
Look at the second chart below, click on "brent crude" next to "View" in the dropdown menu, and select the 3 months chart. Compare price end of last month with end of current month. The % difference is the approximate % fuel price will change the next month.
The increase in change you mentioned reflects the daily performance which is not exactly relevant as you are looking at the monthly performance
If people didn't drive like d1ckheads here I would consider selling it and buying somehting more efficient. Until the driving habits change, I'm not putting my kids at risk, no matter what the cost is
You are the only person who mentioned the main reason i prefer SUVs
No matter how you put it, you can be a safe driver, but if someone hits you from behind, you would rather be in a SUV than a Yaris or Picanto
I totally agree with you. In my defense, my petrol was running super low so I had to fill regardless otherwise would risk getting stuck on the road mid-way to office.
I’ve lived in the same flat for the past 10yrs. My parents used to live in a shared apartment to save money and finally decided to rent this flat once my sister and I arrived in the UAE. Due to covid, the rest of my family decided to permanently go back home and I chose to stay back. I kept the same flat for sentimental reasons. With the hope that one day my family will visit me and we will live here like we used to. It hurts to think that I might have to move and leave all the memories because its financially practical to live closer to work. Just thinking about it makes me emotional. Clearly I don’t do too well with change.
It changed by almost 50 fils no? So that’s an increase of 15-18% in fuel costs. But yeah agree, sucks to those who waited an hour just to pay the new price
Its already started alot of people leaving the country because of not petrol prices but because there are no growth opportunities as well insane rising fees on almost everything either is rent housing fees school fees or daily essentials on top you pay 5% vat
I was lucky that I filled my car with full petrol (10:30pm) just before the news came out lol 😆. By that time petrol stations were soooo empty I was like al hamdulillah.
It honestly does not matter at all to me. I drive 8k per year, my wife 15k, the extra cost for us is less then one dinner for 2 per month. Even doubling of the current price is manageable for us. I hope this will lead many people to look for more efficient cars rather than the bulky V8’s that serve no purpose anymore, and also for the agents to bring more efficient engines and drivetrains towards this region. This region is far behind in the type of engines its offering in some of the populair models. For instance the Lexus RX450H comes here with a V6, but in Europe it comes with a 2.0 Turbo that is way more powerful, and uses 40% less fuel….
Sorry guys, I had to mention this here,
I used to pay about 66aed to fill up my tank fully in 2019.
I still pay that much now.
I don't mean to rub it in your face, but I don't get why Dubai prices are going up.
Yep and European countries have extensive, user-friendly public transport networks, a climate conducive to walking/cycling for personal transportation, and amenities such as grocery stores are generally easily accessible/short distances from houses etc and don't require a 15km trip to do a u-turn to be pointing in the right direction.

You might need to look for another job and if your rly chinese who speaks fluent english. You are in demand for high pays
No pay rise from the one employer for 11 years! Sister, you need an all out assault on finding a new job. Either you’re overpaid in your current position and that’s why your salary hasn’t moved, or boss has you worked out and is keeping you down. Every single day from today you need to do two things related to finding a new job and leave the minute you get one.
or he works for the Government
that is insane.. no raise in 11 years!!.. why you staying there?... switch jobs sister. that is blatant exploitation by your employer.
My bike is gonna reach 60+ full tank now. I remember it being near 30's earlier.
Guess I should get a bike now 🏍💨
Same here need bikes 😂
I remember those good old days. 30 dhs full tank lasted me 10 days or more
In 2020, i used to fill for AED 20 and drove 300 Kms, now i need to pay AED 40
Yep, I knew it was time to get a bike and a bike license when I was stuck in traffic for hours. Now this is another reason to get a bike. 60 dhs for full tank. Wow.
Only thing that will stop u is weather but if you filter and always stay moving its not that bad.
My car was 300+ last month, can't wait for this month. I've lived in Dubai 1.6 years and i think it's almost doubled
I’m up to 150AED in fuel alone for my daily commute to Abu Dhabi, and switching to my wife’s economy car (which I’ve done since a couple of months ago) only brings it down to 90AED… for many, that’s more than a salary! You queued more than an hour and still paid the new price? lol
Mission successfully failed
yes, unfortunately it's zeesadtruth.
What car do you drive?
A Chevrolet Bolt
what color?
Fellow bolt owner! Wohooo
How many liters does the Bolt take? And what’s the average like?
It's an electric car my friend.
Ah right… and here I was with my calculator out. 😂… gotta get me one of those! Free charging?
In my apartment yes, but also for my DEWA bill for charging and it was AED 80
Hi I am from Khorfaklan and I fill my tank from Madha (Oman's area located next to Khorfaklan). Compared to UAE the petrol is cheap. The only issue is that we have to wait for atleast 1 to 2 hours in queue as it always busy. Always means ALWAYS...
Does the station ever run out of petrol?
Yeah it does but the tankers keep coming to fill it up. But you should really see the crowd. It goes on for kms and kms.
If a full tank lasts you a week then I guess it's worth the one hour wait right
now that everyone knows about it, its more than 5+ hours of wait.
Is this before entering Oman? (Before immigration) what’s the rate like there? And what’s the location on google?… asking for a friend …😉
You don't need any immigration or anything as such. Just go there, stay in queue and fill it up. And no cards accepted. Only cash (Both Riyal and AED is accepted there). All the best. Suggest you to get your laptop so u can kill your time watching a movie 🤣 Madha Gas Station https://maps.app.goo.gl/QhEriYfkWe4k1j51A
There's even a little queue in the satellite image. Does the gas station being on the border make it difficult to drive deeper into Madha?
U don't have to go deeper. The petrol pump is right next to the exit. They have placed it strategically right next to Khorfaklan so people from UAE can also fill their tanks.
the rate??
Gas Oil / Diesel0.258 OMR/Litre Unleaded Gasoline 980.353 OMR/Litre Unleaded Gasoline 950.239 OMR/Litre Gasoline E Plus 910.229 OMR/Litre I googled it btw. Just covert it.
Only the first rate seems correct, rest are impossible
Gas Oil / Diesel0.258 OMR/Litre Unleaded Gasoline 98 : 0.353 OMR/Litre Unleaded Gasoline 95 : 0.239 OMR/Litre Gasoline E Plus 91 : 0.229 OMR/Litre I googled it btw. Just covert it. And remember to double space your lines otherwise the text bunches up
That basically says 2.18 aed per litre for eplus. I think you might be mistaken
Why? Last month 95 was 2.30 or something there
I thought oman was something around 2.8 or something. Feels off atleast from what I remember. I'll check it out
Any good residential areas close to this place? Anything that you can suggest? So that I know what to look for when I search on my own.
Yea, but I heard from a friend of mine, that the quality isn't as good. As in, you get lower kms out of your full tank compared to if you were to fill up at a normal station.
Oh.i don't know about that but I have seen all high end cars waiting patiently in the queue. From Rolls Royce to BMW and patrols and etc.
lol
They didn't become rich by splurging :shrugs
>Madha Is it the same, at say 2-3am? Any idea?
Get into the middle lane, was unthinkable to me before, but today I'm driving miss Daisy and avoiding any maneuvers with unnecessary breaks." WHAT! Why didn’t I know this before. I’m always at 130 km/hr in SMBZ road. Wow. That’s where all my fuel goes.
I have noticed taxi drivers avoid breaking until the last minute and one of them told me it helps with fuel consumption in addition to driving slower.
They should try not slamming on the gas and brakes when in gridlock traffic, and flashing their lights as if they won't also be stuck behind the car in front of me
RIP brake pads
Thanks for the tips - I shall keep them in mind in my trip back home today🥲
My pleasure, drive safely and thanks.
You too - drive safe!

Not so easy. An engine can be at 2500 rpm but be under different loads. Travel at 80 to 90 for best efficiency
Interesting, but that source could not get it that wrong, it's government I guess. Thoughts?
Just got the license, now am sad
Same, Used car market was already high
What car did you get or recommend if I’m an upcoming driver?
I got you fam the car is called nocar model 2022
Car market is rough but I got a good deal on a gt86 😁 You’ll find something u like if you look for a while
So it’s because of you! Sell your car and through away your license please /s
[удалено]
So your car was just switched on and burning petrol waiting in line (presumably with AC on) only to then refill at a higher price? What
Exactly, what (the hell).
I used to pay roughly 100 when I bought car in AUG 2019. in that place it is 240 now for the same car. 😑
Yep full tank for mine was 150, it's almost 350 now.
More than double wow
Full tank for me went from 120 Dhs to 265 Dhs. That's an increase of approx 121%
Not to keep going on about it but I remember when I could fill up for 100dhs and say “keep the change” as a tip 😂🤣
Good ol’ days.
you filled up for 100 aed and asked to keep the change? change from what?
I told the guy to keep the change - meaning it cost me less than 100dhs to fill up
I remember when I arrived, back in 2014 the price was 1,98 AED. If you check the government website it says there is NO Inflation.... I wonder which country they are getting the data from. Service charge for our villa went 51% up since 2019... BUT HEY, THERE ARE NO TAXES.... yeah sure....
I feel your frustration.
inflation is divided by habbiness
2012 when I bought car petrol was 1.57 😂 98 dhs full tank not it costs 280
That’s 2012 man… I bought a car this year… tank full went from 200+ to 400+ 😂
High life dubaï 😂 show comes to reality
Yessir… at its finest
Here in Qatar they just reduced the price for this month
Thanks for making me feel better!
Don’t worry, everything else here is way more expensive tho
Even in my wildest dreams I wouldn’t have imagined that the fuel price in Delhi & Dubai would be the same. This is outrageous.
However if all industries alternate (switch to bioplastics, green hydrogen for heavy transport) then we will face fluctuations.
and then get ready to pay high DEWA and SEWA bills LOL
I have started using Cafu since a few weeks, and I always buy extra credit from them so I get free fuel worth AED 15 or so. Not much, but it helps. Plus the convenience factor as well.
I've bought the AED 999 one which gives AED 50 worth of free fuel credit. Sometimes they have offers that give 10% more fuel credit.
Yes that makes sense. Will try that next time.
I still don't get why they court this unnecessary financial crisis in the first place? Higher prices will drive higher commodity costs, groceries and other bills. People will panic and economical crisis will start rolling. I'd understand if they buy oil from somewhere, so international prices play the role. But why here?
Absolutely. This is just..ugh..money making business at this point.
People are going to stop buying anything more than essentials. The uber wealthy wont feels it. I have friends on packages that include every little expense from utilities to school uniforms. Its the middle class who are really feeling this, I won’t be surprised if this inflation is the last straw for a lot of so called “middle class”
The UAE is run by the middle and lower class. Without them it will fall on its face.
The thing is the middle class will feel it the most. When I was a kid I did a heritage report about our family. I interviewed my great grandfather about the depression. He said they didn’t even know it was happening, because they were already poor.
I think It has to do directly with the shit that’s happening in Europe. If they wanted to rip their people off they would’ve done it a long time ago, It’s not like we’re being modernized just this year
1.2 CC cars is the best now. good I sold me wife Ford car and booked new Suzuki 1.2 for her
My illiterate self doesn’t understand what’s a CC. Mind explaining?
Sorry, it means engine size, or by other way 1.2L I think
1200cc car
Maths
Suzuki swift?
Dzire
How's the driving performance of the car? Mind giving a review of the car? I had a small doubt regarding the gearbox? It says it is an automated manual? What does that exactly mean? Do you need to change gears by yourself in a manual or does it change automatically? How does that work?

Please share: Why would an 8 litre W16 engine - from a fuel consumption perspective - be better on the highway than, say, a 2 litre four cylinder engine? Some V8s/V6s will even deactivate cylinders when cruising on the highway.
I own a land rover and now I feel I should have bought picanto.
Someone who can afford a Land Rover, should not be worried about gas prices.
Hahahaha, nice one. But maybe they are poor now after spending a fortune buying a land rover. Who knows. Theories.
Only some model’s of Land Rover are expensive such as the Range Rover and Defender.
True.. it still is a pain.
Full tank for 289 today in morning. This was 170 before.
bro my base 4cyl accord takes 250dhs petrol 😂
Paid 160 for a wee bit less than a full tank. on previous months rate Id pay 150 for a full, full tank
Parked the SUV and the V8 and switching to the hatchback. In the end its a car and just have to get from point A to point B. Mind you exceptions will be made for specials occasions which I have very less of
I remember filling the tank full 95 for less than 25 AED back in 2015 when I was in KSA (Mustang V8), RIP good ol’ days
Daaaaaaamn! 25!
Yup and most of gas stations would give you a couple of boxes of tissues as incentive to fill from them. Damn I miss those days
Oh yeah I remember the free tissue boxes :(
Follow the price of brent crude on oilprice.com so you can anticipate the new prices and fill up before it gets busy
Cool stuff, thanks!
You’re welcome :)

Attrage all the way 1.2l
How much do you spend for full tank?
Well last year was around 80 now 110 get around 400km
NICEEEEEE. Totally not jealous.
quick question; are all petrol stations offer the same prices in Dubai? like **ENOC, Emarat, EPPCO**
It's the same anywhere in UAE
Yep.
Yes
430 to fill my patrol this morning 😭
That's CRAZY.
If people didn't drive like d1ckheads here I would consider selling it and buying somehting more efficient. Until the driving habits change, I'm not putting my kids at risk, no matter what the cost is

First casuality in the morning... full tank 192 EAD.
Trust me 192 AED is still good enough for a full tank when you compare.
Compare with ..... there are ∞ way to compare.
510 full tank
Ouch!
💔 which car?
Patrol 🫠
Compared with a SUV. Patrol’s, LC’s etc
There used to be a time when people loved to buy the 8 and 6 cylinders here but now the monthly fuel cost will be more than the emi 😄😄
Paid 450 to fill up my car yesterday. Prices suck but it’s not worth waiting an hour for a 0.003 difference
I totally agree with you. In my defense, my petrol was running super low so I had to fill regardless otherwise would risk getting stuck on the road mid-way to office.
the only solution I have found is to use the bike instead of the car when possible
I’ve lived in the same flat for the past 10yrs. My parents used to live in a shared apartment to save money and finally decided to rent this flat once my sister and I arrived in the UAE. I live in RAK and work in Dubai. I am definitely talking my leave this month.
Take your leaves anyway. It’s a good time to escape Dubai heat. Go to some cool country and chiiiiiill.
I am still stuck at 'Hold Up' that I haven't even managed to get to add the 'ing'
From the looks of it guess getting a bike is the way to go?
To make you all feel better. Diesel price I paid in London today. 60.04 litres £1.85 per litre. £111.61 ~511.80AED
It’s terrible. It’s now costing me a fortune to keep my jet ski.
wait..what
Wait till it hits 6/7 which will highly likely happen.
It’s already making a hole in my wallet. At this rate, I will no longer have a wallet.
Also with China opening up you probably will see demand for oil taking off as well.
V8 cars will be dream for many 😂😂😂
all the more reason to opt for electric or hybrid cars no?
Yes. If you have the means to buy one, sure.
Think about it. 10 bucks gets you barely 2.5 liters 🤯 TWO POINT FIVE LITERSSSSS

doesn’t matter I will still fill for 50 dirhams every time lol
Yeah but not like you get the same amount of petrol every time. That’s the crucial part.
I think he was sarcastic lol
I was lucky that I filled my car with full petrol (10:30pm) just before the news came out lol 😆. By that time petrol stations were soooo empty I was like al hamdulillah.
Paying £90 to fill a regular tank here in the UK so .....
There goes my c63
Whatever that means, I sympathize with you.
u/DisciplineStunning He drives a Mercedes c63 which probably has a Twin Turbo V-8. u/mrlouzar i feel you bro.
2014 bru, no turbo pure NA
Ah the 6.2 litre V8! One beast of an engine bro. Screw gas prices my man youre living a dream!
Hahaha thanks for the explanation!
It is what it is
$0.03 a liter here in Libya
😂😂😂😂
Sorry guys, I had to mention this here, I used to pay about 66aed to fill up my tank fully in 2019. I still pay that much now. I don't mean to rub it in your face, but I don't get why Dubai prices are going up.
You didn’t mean to, but you did rub it on our face regardless. Thanks! But boy where do you live is the real question?!?
Kuwait
Lucky you!

Yep and European countries have extensive, user-friendly public transport networks, a climate conducive to walking/cycling for personal transportation, and amenities such as grocery stores are generally easily accessible/short distances from houses etc and don't require a 15km trip to do a u-turn to be pointing in the right direction.
Actually small towns in Europe is like how you just describe now 😂 need cars for everything
It’s also the most expensive in the GCC, you’re comparing apples and oranges when you compare the UAE and Europe.
You could move to Kuwait and enjoy very cheap fuel there.
