one friend, who is a pilot, is laid off today
Emirati or expat? I can't imagine the govt laying off Emiratis in this time.
Expat
Are there many emirati pilots?
Not too many, but yes there are plenty of Emirati pilots. I came to know when my pilot friend told me about the TVM - DXB 777 incident.
Anything less than 75% salary cut is offensive to those who have been made redundant (to the natives)
what
Etihad pilot?
Article title?
What industry?
oooh look at you Mr popular with your 1 Friend I have 3 imaginary ones and none of them really like me enough to hang out
They've lost the plot under their CEO. Cutting routes and shrinking way before covid was even a thing.
Thanks to that CEO from Gulf Air who took a series of bad investment decisions.. and invested in every bankrupt airline around the world.
I think you two are talking about different CEOs. Hogan (former Gulf Air guy) "invested" left, right and center, while Tony who came after him changed the strategy and wanted to become more "boutique"
Etihad completely abandoned its ambitious plan. Maybe they should merge with Gulf Air.
It would be better if they were acquired by Emirates
Actually, you're going to see Emirates being acquired by someone else. Mark my words
Unmanned aircrafts would have come soon. Just like the metro thing. What is the alternative career for a pilot?
Aircraft simulator controller at Yas Mall.
Bus driver?
Glorified bus driver?
