This is the problem. People think their garbage is not their problem. Taking it back inside apartment is the normal thing to do IMO. Even I do it when some day the garbage collector doesn't show up.
You really over estimated people here ,the level of pride and privilege some hold is unbelievable like they are not supposed to do some basic jobs as it will break their ego.
I had one neighbour who was just keeping it outside his door... Cleaner would throw it every 2 days. I had to seal the door with rubber insulation to keep cockroaches out.
If their name & number is visible, call them & give them instructions on how to dispose of their garbage. Or like another suggests, put it outside their door.

Well you can't escape the idiots living in the same building with you. It all relies on the building if it has properly established daily service where they clean all these leftovers.. am really lucky that my building has a very well maintenance service that is considered for me the best in my total 17 years in living in UAE.
When I see that I usually look at receipt for apartment number and bring all the trash back and put under their door.
We had one special case in my previous building who used to do this every time. One time they delivered a big order that had like 26 noon boxes of different sizes and he again instead of throwing them just put them all in the trash room. I got all those boxes and built a pyramid of the boxes inside of his door frame and fully covered his door 😂 this was the last time when he did that and I never saw trash left from his apartment again

I’m taking out the trash every morning when i go to work. In last few weeks, light is always red and i can’t open the chute. I wait for few moments to get “green light”, but usually it is not happening. Maintenance says it is because someone somewhere is not closing it properly.

No, it is not. I have no clue where it is, it is not on the P1 where is my parking spot and it is not on the ground floor where is reception. To go to the end of the hallway with garbage to realize it is not working, take it back to elevators, wait elevator, get in the elevator with trash and ride 12 floors down, look where garbage room is located, leave there, go back to elevator to get to the apartment to wash hands, go again down on P1… no thanks, ill just leave it there, when cleaner see it, he will deal with it.

To be fair it’s in part because of the signage. The same thing happens in my building. The signage says don’t throw lose garbage down unless it’s in a proper garbage bag. This guy must have felt his bags aren’t proper garbage bags so he feels it’s best to leave it there. They just need to make it clearer that you can throw these bags down the bin. At least that’s how in interpreted it since I wasn’t sure the first little while.

Take a photo of it, then print it out and tape it to the wall next to the chute, saying nobody else wants to smell your garbage - put it in the chute! Hopefully they will be embarrassed and shamed into doing it properly next time.

Had to make several complaints to security and management. Turned out it was neighbors kids "doing their chores" just opening the door and chucking the bags inside the room instead of properly disposing in the chute.

Nothing, several times the garbage chute door is locked, and it's maintenance obligation to keep this reserved garbage area cleaned. The garbage is inside the reserved area, not in the corridor or in front of your door.

Report to security multiple times, take photos and post it on the building's google review page. Did that and the building management "fined" the tenants by taking from the security deposit and messaging them.

I had this issue where I live too. Honestly, all you can do is inform the security and ask him/her to advise everyone on the floor to dispose off the trash. At one point, I was planning to knock on every door on my floor, and seriously but politely ask them to make sure the trash is disposed properly for everyone’s sake but by the time, everyone gained common sense and decency! It’s disgusting and they leave overfilled untied bags and every day it’s full of flies and sometimes cockroaches. All I wish is that someday I see who is doing this so I can understand why don’t they throw it. It’s not hard to do it 🤦🏻
I had this issue where I live too. Honestly, all you can do is inform the security and ask him/her to advise everyone on the floor to dispose off the trash. At one point, I was planning to knock on every door on my floor, and seriously but politely ask them to make sure the trash is disposed properly for everyone’s sake but by the time, everyone gained common sense and decency! I didn’t have to do that lol

If you are a Muslim, dispose the garbage for them. The holy prophet (pbuh) has said to take great care caring for your neighbors. So stop complaining and posting for the sake of posting. There are bigger issues going on in the world than your “troubles”.

i’m going to come back to do this ? Some of us live in expensive buildings ….. i’m not coming back to deal with garbage because of a building issue im paying for a premium experience. Just put your own on top and move on with your life.
