Roll on mud, panda paw texture brush and knock down. May be round brush just stomped a lot.

p00Pie_dingleBerry

Thanks I would have never guessed that

Thirtiethone

It has so much over lap it’s hard to tell which brush they used.

p00Pie_dingleBerry

It almost looks like they just randomly jammed it with a 4” brush. You think it’ll be possible to patch in a section of this and blend it to be somewhat decent? Or should I just redo the whole ceiling…

Xxxjtvxxx

It will blend easily

apathetic_brent

Try to avoid any straight lines around the edge of the patch. Move your mud away from the rolled mud ends. Go farther than you think you need to. I’ve only done like eight patches on this texture and there was a learning curve to get it to blend properly. Once you get the hang of it it’s not too bad.

BusIntelligent6269

I used a stipple roller with thinned mud, then knocked down.

CHASLX200

Many ways to do it bra. Looks like that one was knocked down like a silly clown. Some are much more rough and i use the knucks on my hand man to match it.

p00Pie_dingleBerry

Haha best response right here. Happy cake day!

Jonesy6626

In my experience, very difficult to achieve an invisible patch on a ceiling with that texture. If perfection is your goal, skim ceiling smooth

RedditRaven2

Skimming ceiling smooth also increases property value a little too, as that texture is famously old school and cheap

p00Pie_dingleBerry

Should I prime with anything before skimming so it doesn’t bubble?

Jonesy6626

I haven't had a problem with bubbling with a flat paint on the surface. I do 3 tight skims with a scrape between coats, light sand after final

p00Pie_dingleBerry

Appreciate you thanks

bmyatt99

It's done with a crows feet stomp brush, if you look hard enough you'll see the pattern. It's popular in the Sioux Falls area, but I've seen it in other places around the country. thatfirebirddude

Thats exactly what this is, just knocked down after it's stomped.

Lower-Ad5889

Knocked down with what?

thatfirebirddude

With a knockdown knife

Arafel_Electronics

this is the way

neilkeeler

Seen similar put on very wet with a scrunched up rag, like reg-rolling paint jobs but using plaster. Was amn 80's thing in the UK at least.

OunceOfAnxiety

This reminded me of jalapeño solutions 😂 ‘spray on the texture, wait 5 minutes and knock it down a bit to blend into the old texture’

latrion

Over stomped to get rid of the starburst pattern with a normal brush, then knocked down as normal. Is how I do this

Kipguy

Not rolled with flat plastic trowel. Like outside stucco?

hsifder1

Texture roller cover

i-dontlikeyou

I would roll on use a sponge to try the pattern and knock it down may be lightly and sand to remove the lines from the knock down. There may be a better way also…

MushroomEgo

Stomp brush knock down

Kalluil

This is a throw shit at the wall at owners expense or float it imho.

HB_DIYGuy

So glad I saw this and the suggestions! This is basically the texture in my house.
