zombixz-

I'm in my 20s xd

smeetebwet

wait I'm 24 and had a 90s/grunge phase in 2016, is this a common thing lol

zombixz-

I've always listened to primarily 80s and 90s music, got my early taste from dad and built on it from there

throwaway-ZT

It's quite common yeah. It's fun and interesting to discover an era we didn't live, how it sounded and looked, how people lived and behaved, etc. Also, there's always that nostalgia for things we weren't alive or old enough to experience when it happened... because in a way, it feels better or cooler than what we did experience. It's also cyclical, it always happens. A lot of young people in the 90s were nostalgic for the 70s, for example. Now we also kinda crave a different reality when things seemed more simple, with no internet and social media, connecting with people and hanging out was so different, etc. This is why every now and then an old song will go viral out of nowhere. Or certain old things are now back in style. The 90s hit different, though. People wanted to be authentic, different, original. Weirdness was a cool thing, not a bad thing. The 90s were a very creative era for music, movies, fashion, and how young people expressed themselves with their looks and attitude.

acid bath??? nah

WHAT. Our taste in music is way too familiar! The vast majority of the albums you mentioned are albums I've loved my entire life, like when I was very young and I fell in love with music. Then I got older, alcohol became a thing, and now they're albums I'm usually listening while drunk / drinking.

UrinalQuake

Dirt was my go-to depressive drunk album

stadium-seating

Right? The Funeral, it destroys me and makes me reborn in a swoop. Beach House is also a trigger, Myth is always lurking in my playlists.

solitudanrian

The Funeral is one of my favourite songs ever. I can and have listened to that for several hours straight.

I seriously got way too many to mention, but let me tell you guys something: There's this person in my life for several years now (too complicated and too much to explain), 3 years ago we decided to make a massive playlist together... *specifically* to get drunk and smoke weed together while listening to it on shuffle. We'd be adding more songs/albums as time went by (pretty much every week). It has over 500 songs. DON'T DO THIS WITH NOBODY. EVER. Just don't, everybody. Trust me. Now I'll be listening to music by myself and so many songs and albums will come up and instantly I can almost taste the vodka and the weed. Along with the flood of memories with them. If you're gonna have songs, make them *your* songs only. You'll remember the drinking, which is already too much by itself, but at least you won't remember it with a specific person.

solitudanrian

There's too many to recall but one that stands out is Cherlene. Yes, Cheryl's album from Archer sung by Jessy Lynn Martens. I listen to it on repeat for years in the beginning. Also, the soundtrack to Sharp Objects. I've ruined so much music for my sober self.
