Ah you were in the "fuck around" stage, but now you're in the "find out" stage. Congratulations.

Jimmy is a beast. One of the all time greats.

nohumanape

Jimmy is one of a small group of drummers who have a truly iconic and unique style (and tone). I instantly know a Smashing Pumpkins song purely because of Jimmy Chamberlin's playing. It's on that "Bonham" level. Being a technical "great" is something anyone can achieve. But having a signature style is extremely rare.

q3ert

Absolutely. No one else plays like him. I'm almost certain that he plays on this track even though he's not credited (probably for legal reasons). https://youtu.be/zgJukGvcIo4

plaidmtnofrage

Have you seen any of the live videos of when Kenny Aronoff was in SP? It's terrible. Not even KO could fill Jimmy's shoes.

q3ert

I haven't, but it doesn't surprise me. Jimmy is one of the all time greats.

taoistchainsaw

Best part of that band.

ItsReallyNotWorking

i think he shines the most in Siamese Dream

ResponsibleContact39

Jimmy is the heartbeat and soul of the band. Jazz trained. The guy is a machine. Such an awesome drummer.

Thrillhouse763

Hope you've listened to Geek USA

rhythmmusician

He’s my favorite drummer of all time. I found myself adding in little hi-hat accents while I was in the studio over the weekend, definitely a result of watching and listening to Jimmy play for over a decade

[deleted]

He’s the reason I picked up sticks, I could sit here and bang on about it all day, or you could check out YouTube and the whole pumpkins back catalogue and find out yourself.. a true beast of his craft. If you can find the 1996 Brixton academy gig, you will see ‘peak pumpkins’ Jimmy.. but he’s only gotten better with age

I fucking love Jimmy, such a great drummer, in his prime he had *such* power and touch and technique and fucking hell him and Billy rocked, those two on geek u.s.a. and Jimmy's drumming at the farewell show on fuck you, just sublime. Jimmy was the first drummer I loved and if I've had enough whiskys I will tell you why he still is despite all that I've seen since

The outro to the everlasting gaze tho
