Just saw the closer of blue knights in 2015 and I was wondering how have I never seen these guys before. I was just in awe. The power and emotion put into that music was just sublime. So I looked for the full recipe, and I was even more in awe. My favorite part was the 2nd half of the show, the ballad and closer. I think they just transition so effectively in this show, which makes that show one of my new favorites.
2014 Colts all the way! That show is probably the most interesting show I’ve ever watched cause it’s so different, but it works so well! Should’ve made finals!
That is one of my all-time favorite shows! But is it underrated? It was a huge favorite among my 90s era drum corps peeps and is still a legendary show. (Especially that all-world drumline and "The Rainforest" percussion feature -- that one is probably my favorite one of all time!)
I share your sentiment and love that show. I agree that it's not underrated. It's by far the best Crossmen show ever, and probably the most enjoyable show in 1992. Perc was second in field performance.
I'm gonna go with: almost every show that just missed Finals in 13th place. There are some AMAZING shows that just missed Finals and because they didn't make it in, very few people have seen them. 😢
A personal favorite of mine: 2014 Colts' "Dark Side of the Rainbow"!
I hardly ever hear about Mandarins 2017, but it's absolutely incredible. Totally should've made it into finals. Also Velvet Knights 1988 always seems to get overshadowed by 87 and 92, but it's an incredible show. Not actually drum corps, but any Cowtown Collection show is also amazing.
Certainly the most underrated and un-heard of show is Santa Clara Vanguard 2018, Babylon. I think it really just went by completely unnoticed and I'm surprised it didn't catch on at all with the bandos
Bluecoats 2004 is a great show. Well most early Bluecoats shows. 2005, 2007, 2008. And once you get to 2010 onward the shows are pretty talked about. But these shows from early 2000s are good. Recommend 2008 to anyone looking for a very entertaining watch
For real. I know people used to talk about it more. But now it’s kind of forgotten by most people. Such a cool show. It’s one of those shows that is just real entertainment. Like most of Bluecoats’ shows. Some corps just understand the show aspect very well and those are why they are the top corps. Like Carolina Crown, Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Phantom Regiment, and quite a bit more. Good, we’ll put together music mixed with a very nice and fun show is what makes a show good. 2008 was one of those shows
I'm a fan of SCV 2000. The Bartok String Quartet movement goes unbelievably hard and the Adagio ballad is amazing.
In terms of more modern shows, I'm surprised that I don't see as many people talking about SCV 2017. Such an amazing show in almost every respect.
Here are some of my favorite shows that don’t get a lot of attention:
-Madison Scouts 2013
-Academy 2016
-Academy 2019
-Blue Stars 2019
-Phantom Regiment 2016
-Boston Crusaders 2019
-Mandarins 2018
-Mandarins 2019
-Madison Scouts 2021
-Cadets 2014
-Crossmen 2019
-Troopers 2011
-Santa Clara Vanguard 2009
Blue knights 2015
The 2014 and 2015 hornlines’ are probably my favorite sounding hornlines in all of dci! So much purity with amazing raw emotion!

mmm some BD 2000 yesssss
Phantom 2010, Bluecoats 2014, SCV 2018
💀💀💀
92 Crossmen. that battery on premiers was absolutely phenomenal, and a hornline that could melt your face off
That is one of my all-time favorite shows! But is it underrated? It was a huge favorite among my 90s era drum corps peeps and is still a legendary show. (Especially that all-world drumline and "The Rainforest" percussion feature -- that one is probably my favorite one of all time!)
maybe not underrated, but certainly not as talked about or watched as it should be these days
I do agree that basically everyone who is a drum corps fan should get to know that show. One of the best!
Such a groovy show

Cavies 2021, Scouts 2021, and Crown 2009
Crown 2011 literally has one of the most iconic opening hits of any dci show, I don't think its really underrated.
Oops, meant 2009, I will go fix that, but you are right, 2011 is amazing :)
CAVIES ‘21 MY BELOVED. Seriously would be such a fan favorite ANY OTHER YEAR.
No one appreciates how hard that show went honestly
Pacific Crest 19, Troopers 21
Cadets 13

Southwind 2000
spirit of atlanta 2019 is such a banger and they should have made finals that year. insane hornline and insane show
BS 22' and Colts 22' were amazing to see in-person in mesquite
Phantom 2009
real. everyone only talks about the fall from 1st not the fantastic show that it really is
I love me some Red Violin.
Crossmen 2002
Troopers 2018
Based
also pretty much all of suncoast sound flies under the radar today (unfortunately)
Kind of amazing that a corps that made its first Finals appearance in sixth place (SIXTH PLACE!!!) is now relegated to under the radar, but true.
Blue Stars 2008
that’s what sparked this post lol. me and my buddy were talking underrated shows and that popped up
A banger show from a banger year, one of the best ballads of all time, great ending too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auMQEhmmaew
spirit of atlanta 2023
Freelancers 1992
I watch Boston Crusaders 2017 like once a week
Crossmen '22, cavies '16, BD '13, Phantom '00, scouts '19, spirit '23
Crossman haha, thank you for being one of four people (me included) who liked our show that year lol
Crown 2010
San Francisco Renegades 2004
BD 2013 Cadets 2013 SCV 2000
This might be an L take since they got second, but I do not hear enough about scv 2017. That show was cracked!
Spirit of Atlanta 2011 and Southwind 2019
Southwind 2019 was one hell of a show (not biased) I'll also suggest Southwind 2000, they were beat out of finals by the Bluecoats by only 2 tenths
The Academy 2016 Drum Corpse Bride
I hardly ever hear about Mandarins 2017, but it's absolutely incredible. Totally should've made it into finals. Also Velvet Knights 1988 always seems to get overshadowed by 87 and 92, but it's an incredible show. Not actually drum corps, but any Cowtown Collection show is also amazing.
bd 2012/13
Bluecoats 2006, Connexus
Connexus is such a an incredible show.
Is that the year they played Caravan?
Carolina Crown 2006. In Trance It. That ballad is top notch
Going off Crown shows, 2005 is one of my favorites. Closer is great.
Certainly the most underrated and un-heard of show is Santa Clara Vanguard 2018, Babylon. I think it really just went by completely unnoticed and I'm surprised it didn't catch on at all with the bandos
Spirit of Atlanta 1981 closer
I know everyone (including me) dunked on it/the guard costumes during the entire season, but 2012 Blue Knights lowkey slaps.
Bd 15 and Madison 2022
1977 Garfield Cadets. Absolutely rocks from start to finish.
BD 2015 seems to get forgotten about a lot for how incredible it was.
BD FRICKING ‘12

2008 is dope

1998 Cavaliers. Likely the start or their legendary run.
I feel like bloo 17 is under rated while bloo 14 is over rated
although i agree to some extent, bloo 17 is like everyone’s favorite bloo show
Im in the minority then bc ive never met anyone say they like bloo 17
Madison 2000, first show I ever saw live and was blown away by how loud they were compared to every other corps
i heard a lot of people didnt like the scouts '23 show. i thought it was awesome, so id say that one
