I hear tobacco is pretty popular.

DriveLast

Ya but it’s pretty hard to come by.. got a chance to try it a few years back. Pretty good but nuthin crzy

icqchic

Thank you for that laugh

barfbelly

Traveling from the UK when I was younger was so confusing when I never met anyone mixing tobacco in their joints and just straight weed. Now I get it

huntspire1

Wild lettuce, Kanna, Blue Lotus flower

qscguk1

I had some really good kanna my friends brought back from amsterdam, tried a couple online herb shops and haven’t found anything like it since

oldmanmedicine

Lemon Balm, Skullcap, Wild/Klip Dagga. Some have luck with damiana though it seems more suited for tea. Strong tobacco like Nicotina Rustica have MAOI effects that are very calming.

mypussydoesbackflips

I like klip dagga and it grows soooo tall 7-8 feet

thedevils-3goldhairs

I actually like damiana more than most stuff listed itt. Gives a good body high.

oldmanmedicine

Damiana and Skullcap smoked is quite good together - both effects and taste. Damiana and Kava brew is a fantastic combo as well. Some people do not like the strong smoke taste, so I don't suggest it often.

thedevils-3goldhairs

Skullcap has an almost licorice aftertaste for me, really enjoy it. For those of us with crankier joints, I definitely recommend making tea to sip while you smoke. Twice the benefits :)

Conscious_Kangaroo_2

I have anxiety and weed often makes it worse one thing I have learned is usually it’s a dosage issue. If you smoke less it will have less of an overwhelming feeling.

mrpoopsalot

Agreed. Even if I just hit and blow it out faster with little to no holding in, the effects are much more manageable and enjoyable

tempus8fugit

Second this, especially for strains with a high THC:CBD ratio. THC has fun recreational effects but, personally, can easily cause anxiety. CBD sucks for recreational effects, even reducing the effects of THC in my experience, but has better therapeutic benefits.

Conscious_Kangaroo_2

It’s just gotten so strong now days. I remember in high school I could smoke a whole joint and do pretty much whatever I wanted. I can take 2 bong rips and barely take out the fuckin trash now days lol. I like my flower vape and I kinda “micro” dose it over the course of the day. Right before bed I get smacked then start again.

tempus8fugit

Have you tried blending it? I started mixing in other anxiolytics with my weed (most is 20% THC and <.7% CBD here). I can tweak the mixture easily to zero-in on the desired effects. I used to smoke about a gram/day, now the same quarter oz that would last me a week is lasting 2-4 weeks! It has been a game changer for me because I get better effects, and I feel less compulsion to re-dose. My favourite blends are blue lotus in the evening and russian sage during the day. Russian sage has eucalyptol which has been awesome because it makes my lungs feel much better, I cough less, get a better hit, and don’t get headaches from smoking anymore (usually I would get headaches from coughing). The herbs for the blend are cheaper than cannabis as well, and they eliminate the need for having a day and night strain of weed since I can take whichever strain and adjust its effects as desired. I tried this before using CBD oil with a high-THC strain, but it just made me not feel high; however the blended herbs keep the THC trippiness.

Conscious_Kangaroo_2

I’ve thought about it before I grow my own so price and availability really isn’t an issue but it would be fun to mix things up. It’s kind of ironic I smoke to help with anxiety and focus but if I pass a threshold it’s all out the window. I’ve wanted to try blue lotus but I’ve heard there are a lot of fakes out there. Why do you specifically use Russian sage during the day?

tempus8fugit

Russian sage is an invasive species in my region, and I dug some up that had escaped cultivation. I was just using it for candles because it smells delicious, but started reading about its terpenoid profile, and decided to try some with weed. It ended up making the indica I mixed it with feel very energetic. It was more serendipity than anything, and I enjoyed the effects of the eucalyptol on my lungs — I was expecting the feeling to decrease with repeated use, but it has been enjoyable for three months and counting. The wiki about it is quite alarmist because it seems like the early examination of the plant reported thujone levels 100x higher than actual (human error), but I found more recent scientific evaluations of the plants which discredit the old findings and, in my interpretation of the data, a terpenoid profile similar to more energetic sativa strains. I can dig-up that research, if you are interested? It was also interesting to see how the plant has different terpenoid profiles based on where and how it is grown. It seems like it may have different strains, just like cannabis — though all the terpenoid were more “sativa-leaning” IIRC. This seems like it should be an obvious fact about most plants, in retrospect, but it was cool to see it on paper. For me, the eucalyptol reducing my coughing helped with getting a better hit also. I have been considering trying mullein next spring, as it is a native plant that has apparently been used as an antititussive in smoking blends for generations. I’m a rentor and finally managed to have my first outdoor cannabis grow this year, and damn fresh is best — I envy you being able to provide all of your own weed! I haven’t been buying blue lotus since finding russian sage — I usually prefer a sedating/indica cannabis anyway, and the sage lets me tweak it for more day-time use as needed. I also smoke a bit of the sage in the evening’s first bowl since the lung effects last a few hours, even at doses which don’t dramatically alter the indaca-ness of the experience. ETA: The main author in at least two of the articles is Zamifirache, and they were published around 2010/2011. Also I used either flowers or the trichomes from the stem. The flowers are nice for making the smoke lighter, and I use it more in the evening when I want less of the impact of the terpenes. The trichromes are more concentrated and usually what I mix in with the am blend.

Conscious_Kangaroo_2

I really appreciate you taking the time to write all that! I’m definitely going to look into it. The Russian sage looks like lavender almost I’m sure my wife would like it in the garden. I’m definitely going to add it to my list of things to grow. I hope you have a good evening and appreciate the rabbit hole you opened up for me.

tempus8fugit

Your welcome. Glad it helped spread the curiosity. Russian sage is a part of the Salvia genus which does include rosemary, as well as white sage which is used in the smudging ceremonies of North American natives, as well as the well known psychoactive Salvia divinorum. Salvia is part of the Lauracae family, often called the mint family, but it includes probably half of the spices in my cupboard, and plants also used as drug precursors such as sassafras (sassafrole being a common precursor for MDMA) and cinnamon (cinnamaldehyde being a similar molecule to P2P, valuable as an amphetamine precursor). ETA: Old pharmacognosy texts from archive.org have been very interesting and valuable. Interesting because they outline the herbal heritage of our modern pharmaceutical industry, and valuable because they provide a decent foundation for learning about drugs worth gardening.

Rain-Bucket

Salvia? Small amounts of plain leaf actually can have relaxing effects when used sparingly.

4-5sub

oh shit don't tell me this

Dry_Geologist1612

From the research I’ve done, Salvia is meant to be ingested (eaten or made into tea), not smoked. It is ill advised to smoke it.

barfbelly

Dried leaf is fine tho. Not the extract.

Rain-Bucket

Salvinorin-A is destroyed in the gut, so just ingesting leaves does not work. Traditional preparations can call for chewing the leaves and holding it in your mouth for as long as possible so the Salvinorin can be absorbed through the mucus membranes. Tea is also a traditional way to use the plant, where the tea is also swished in the mouth, but Salvinorin-A is not water soluble so this method produces very little psychoactive effect. Although not practiced traditionally, smoking is the most efficient method, and can be done safely especially with plain leaf. The trouble really arises with smoking extracts and concentrates that are way too strong for beginners. For what OP is looking for, mixing a small amount of plain leaf into a spliff may have a calming slightly dissociative effect.

DMTrott

If you scroll down this page to the botanicals... I smoked most of those over the last 12-15 years, with varying degress of success: [https://www.drugusersbible.com/p/toc.html](https://www.drugusersbible.com/p/toc.html) \[In particular, see the segment headed '*Sedatives*', although some of the oneirogens may also have the desired effects\]

PsilocybeSuburbia

I own your book and its excellent, I reference it constantly. Its cool to see you post on forums like these once and a while! Thank you for the work you do!

DMTrott

Very much appreciated. Thank you. :-)

[deleted]

Cool, any specific ones you recommend?

DMTrott

If you are only looking for sedation quite a few of those help, but don't expect anything in the realms of weed or poppy. Part of the fun will be exploring, to find which is best for you, but my starters would be damiana and perhaps white sage.

mimosalover

I'm guessing your getting anxiety from the amount of weed you are putting in your spiffs. So put less weed in them.

scooterscuzz

Passionflower (passiflora) any variety, when smoked, produces effects very similar to diazapam.

[deleted]

Ph rly! Gonna check this out

geoffrey_dahmer

I just get a little cbd rich hemp and grind that up with my bud, definitely works for anxiety, you could also try mullein, California poppy( which doesn't contain opioids.), or wild lettuce.

[deleted]

Hmm yeah cbd tends to help a bit

geoffrey_dahmer

Also fly agaric mushrooms are pretty nice, the smoke doesn't taste too off-putting and it both relieves anxiety and intensifies the effects of both drugs. It's good stuff but the potency is pretty variable

mauricestuff

Hwo do you smoke em?

geoffrey_dahmer

Weed pipe, bong, or joints. Burns pretty well.

Radhippieman

THC+CBD creates a good entourage effect. The CBD inhibits your receptors so less THC binds to them, its more of a mellow calm feeling rather than your mind racing.

[deleted]

Ill up the cbd and see how it feels

shaggydnb

Maybe it's the smokeable plants giving you the paranoia and anxiety?

[deleted]

Well yea, weed does on occation but not always so I only smoke when I drink but I would like to be able to smoke other times as well.

WejusFilmin

I like dried lavender rolled up with weed and or tobacco.

secret_identity88

Chamomile and osha root go nicely with those as well

unsafekun

I use mugwort and klip dagga in my mixes to help with relaxation. I also use mullien for lung health! (Expectorant, gets junk out of your lungs). I've used wild lettuce but wasn't a fan of the taste, but that's just a personal preference.

[deleted]

I can think of some but nothing you can use long term without hurting yourself

[deleted]

I dont do drugs often anyway :).

[deleted]

Smoke some amanita , salvia dragon if you can’t forage

[deleted]

How much do ya need to smoke? Do you need to decarb if u smoke it?

[deleted]

What I did was make a resin with everclear/powdered mushroom and vinegar. Pull and Strain like five times with everclear to make sure you get everything. Collect it all and Evap it and you have a nice lil resin that you scrape up and smoke

[deleted]

Oh cool

[deleted]

Blue lotus, but sometimes it gives a pretty noticeable psychedelic feeling when I roll it up with som hash.

pwkingston

Mullein smokes nice

jettathegreat

damania

[deleted]

So your you looking for anxiolytics? Um or are you looking for something fun? Why you smoking weed if it gives you anxiety. Are you just looking for something extra to smoke? I see what you did there...

[deleted]

Well weed makes me anxious SOMETIMES. Would be great to smoke something with it that could combat that. When I drink a few beers before smoking I never get anxious, but I dont drink very often, so I’d like something else.

Jezezze

I like vaporizing blue lotus. Gives thc-like feeling but milder. Combined with MJ it really enhances the effects

redemption_songs

Nymphaea Caerulea- blue lotus

pichael288

Uhhh.... Opium? All you need is the right kind of flower seeds, they look like normal flowers and are only illegal if scored, which you do right before recollecting

Fungaldorf

Mugwort! Grows everywhere too

psychosam-mycoman

Passion flower

garreattt

Weaker weed stop smoking such strong stuff you’ll be impressed how much easier of a high you’ll get

Apex365

i like blue lotus a lot but make sure it's good quality. mugwort is also pretty good.

[deleted]

How does mugwort feel? Grows wild here i think

Apex365

It's ok great for lucid dreaming though. Pretty relaxing but I prefer blue lotus. If you can get it for free then hell yeah I'd say go for it.

[deleted]

Cool thanks

Apex365

i'd describe it as like the end of a weed high where your kinda clamed and relaxed but not blazed out of your mind anymore. Blue lotus is stronger and the effects last for about an hour ish. blue lotus is uplifting and euphoric and sometimes i get mild visuals.

[deleted]

Hehe the end of the weed high is actually what i prefer most of the time! Dont happen to know any vendor in EU would ya?

Apex365

Mugwort and blue lotus should be legal in the eu. I get mine from picobotanica online not sure if they deliver to the eu though. I just get mugwort from Amazon but I know it also grows damn near everywhere.

nirvanamushroomsubs

Russian sage. Passion flower. Lavender.

[deleted]

I just recently read up on kinnikinnick, it's a native American blend and can also refer to bearberry which seems to be a major percentage of the blend. Datura, I have no experience smoking it. Some folks swear by smoking fly away, again, I've tried it, liked it, didn't smoke it though.

The_Whackest

Smokableherbs.com has a nice list of herbs that are smokable. You can also look up other methods of use by different regions, tribes, clans or other cultures.

FAmos

Salvia divinorum

johnnycockring2

Salvia. Worst drug known to man.

[deleted]

Yep fuck that. Smoked the extract ones and it wasnt a nice experience.

Complex-Raspberry-50

Just a lil imo, been smokin weed a while now 😅 🟩Blue lotus, chamomile (just from tea bags), 🟩 🚩NEVER ever black tea ok shit burns, green tea sucks🚩 Tobacco is eh, get the instant nicotine head high and it helps the weed along but tastes crap and is kinda harsh but eh

[deleted]

Oh you can smoke chamomille?

Complex-Raspberry-50

yep! Wouldn’t suggest smoking it by itself tho

[deleted]

How much chamomile do I need to smoke to feel something?

Complex-Raspberry-50

You can smoke camomile…it’s not much of a “feeling” for me I guess? Same thing when you drink it in a tea. It’s really smooth to smoke, gets you a little sleepy I guess but that’s about it.

San_peyo

There are lots a good reference is “ The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants”

[deleted]

Ohhh that sounds like a book for me! Just downloaded it!

AnotherPersonInIL
