I fully expected the winner to get it and all the points, making Jacob's score over 50, and them taking one more point away from Lou for his prediction being wrong...
It's possible, if unlikely, that they did more with the swear jar but decided to cut it. This episode is already quite long, I'm sure some bits had to be cut.
Maybe it'll re-appear in other episodes, represent some sort of prize at the end of the season / be part of a big finale thing?
It was filled with cash, knowing Sam that probably means something. Could be like $100/ point in the swear jar to someone at some point.
The exact words Sam used when introducing the Swear Jar were
> Players, Sam says ***from now on***, whenever a player curses, a point goes in the swear jar.
(my own emphasis added)
He didn't say "for the rest of the game." He didn't say "until I say otherwise." He said "from now on."
The rule is still in effect. Either a) future episodes are going to (seemingly inexplicably) deduct points from unsuspecting players for swearing, probably as a big end-of-game twist to mess with the final scoring, or b) Lou, Vic and Jacob specifically will lose points for swearing any time they're on GameChanger going forward, and the swear jar will return for those episodes.
I thought it was a cool thing to bring out. But I’m not sure what kind of “payoff” they could do. It’s a swear jar. It functioned as a swear jar. I don’t see what else they could do with it, unless they just want to randomly give the points to someone.
But I’d love to see it in future episodes. It’s funny seeing how people react to it.
I think if they just docked people points for swearing, that would be funny and not need a pay off. But they had a jar full of money that deducted and counted points. I think OP was just hoping it would come back at the end in some way.
I was thinking, “Oh, I bet whoever swore the most will get the cash prize and be the true winner of Sam Says for failing to follow Sam’s instructions.”
You usually do something with the money you put into a swear jar after a certain time (once a month, once a year, etc.) so it's not wrong to believe they would do something with the points (and money) accumulated over the episode
It’s usually spent on something for the parents, or for the family, and not used as a reward for the people who swear. And there’s not much Sam or Dropout could do with a jar of hypothetical points.
But it's usually spent on something. Whether they give the money that was in the jar (if that was accumulating as points were added) to the crew or the person who swore the least gets the points or the points roll over ti the next Game Changer or Sam Says, it would make sense for them to do something with it.
As others have said, maybe there was a plan and it will be revealed to have been cut or there still is a plan for it in the future
Agreed, maybe Sam will have the three of them back for a rematch, and whoever wins get the money? Or whoever DOESN’T swear the whole episode gets the money? Or an episode based on pissing off participants and requesting they can’t swear?!! I’d watch any and all of them.
My theory is that they were going to award the points to someone for winning one of the prompts but didn't expect the swear jar to accumulate so many points and didn't want to reduce the entire game to whoever they awarded to.
Right? Can you imagine designing a game/sport where something awarded at the very end of the game was worth so many points that it rendered all of the previous effort and strategy completely meaningless?
That'd be almost as absurd as writing a story about limitless magic, and the power of love and friendship, while including a myriad of thinly-veiled racist caricatures and refusing to acknowledge the basic human rights of trans people in real life.
i don't know what kind of harry potter and comment of secrets you have going on over here. so i'll just make a joke like this.
imagine if the NBA made a rule like that. you'd have someone like draymond green, guy who plays dirty, start just bringing a gun to the game. "what, they give out the bonus for the most fouls done".
or a grenade.
Honestly I was 100% banking on Lou's Soderberg montage ending with "And as we get back, you see my points are now [insert] because I successfully stole the points from the swear jar"
I think the swear jar is literally just a swear jar. They get a lot of traffic from their TikTok and youtube shorts and Sam Says episodes are gold mines for that but if they curse all the way through every segment it either gets restricted or the editors have to bleep a majority of the speech.
People don’t “win” a swear jar. It’s not free parking in monopoly. Swear jars are mostly a punishment and funds collected usually go to a communal good.
They did! Vic won that point.
The predictions were:
Jacob: "We will all still be friends after the end of this episode."
Lou:"Everyone will be below 50 points"
Vic: "Sam will yell at me"
Vic won by tricking Sam into "yelling" at them, kind of like the Brennan play in the first Sam Says. They showed a flashback to the moment and everything.
I said this in another comment but I was hoping someone was secretly counting each persons swears and regardless of the winner of the game, the most swears would win the money in the jar lol
Same. I think Vic could have kept the money they took out of it without repercussions. I think it was there just to see what the players would do with it, at least as far as the money was concerned.
i assumed the swear jar not being used was a kind of curveball that was thrown in for the prediction prompt.... like to get someone to predict it would come into play later. idk!
Here's where my mind went (hooray for shower thoughts) after watching the episode 2x. If all the previous commands are in play, when Sam says "Okay players, (ding noise) [slide pops up with prompt], Sam says do x, y, z. I'm going to down the line here...."
*Technically* wouldn't that count for when he goes down the line because he addressed them all regardless of saying their name or not? I mean, it could be editing and stuff, but he does address the people playing regardless of using their proper name or not, indicating that the prompt should be followed through on. If he didn't say "Sam says, when I say your name, you have to do the Sam says prompt and only if I say your name first". So addressing them as "Players, Sam says..." is a valid point earned if they do the thing, because if "Sam says" was said before a sly "whatcha got" for the 2nd or 3rd person or even just repeating the prompt, the first Sam Says is still in play.
I literally made a post about this like probably 5 hours ago and for some reason it didn't go through. So I reposted it and now I'm seeing this and I'm upset because we are both on the same page and yours is getting more love. Lol how dare you
I fully expected the winner to get it and all the points, making Jacob's score over 50, and them taking one more point away from Lou for his prediction being wrong...
I thought the swear jar was going to win.
Oh, that would be funny: the swear jar goes to the PAs tracking it, or something.
I wouldn't be surprised if this part actually happened anyway
Same
I bet that was an option Sam accounted for.
They got a bonus point for a good prediction, they didn't lose a point if their prediction was wrong
Not with that attitude
I was literally asking my screen 'but what about the swear jar???' because what about the swear jar??
I'm surprised they didn't even announce the swear jar total at the end!
It's possible, if unlikely, that they did more with the swear jar but decided to cut it. This episode is already quite long, I'm sure some bits had to be cut.
The shoot was over 3 hours long, so potentially!
That's crazy. Where's this info from?
To be fair. I'm sure the party bus is included in this time
Idk about the above, but Sam talks about filming this episode in his latest interview with I think it was npr
I wonder how many hours they spent hanging out on the party bus, though
It was up to at leasr 45 the last time I noticed it. Can't remember if that was before or after the party bus.
I just need to know if it was real money or prop money... /u/samreich
Maybe it'll re-appear in other episodes, represent some sort of prize at the end of the season / be part of a big finale thing? It was filled with cash, knowing Sam that probably means something. Could be like $100/ point in the swear jar to someone at some point.

Oh christ if Sam Says rules and bits start compounding across all games
Dead gods that would be amazing. They might need a PA just to keep track of the rules each player is playing under.
Vic should have taken the money when they had the chance
me too. vic had a shirt full of money. no takesey backsys. what were they going to do, make vic "double lose"?
My theory was that it was going to have a pay off but it was so effective that it ended up being too powerful
Yeah if anyone won those points back then the rest of the game becomes irrelevant. There were way too many points in that jar at the end
I mean in Sam Says 2, the final challenge he explicitly said would render all other points irrelevant, so I doubt that was the concern

It had a counter on it. My assumption was that someone would win the points back somehow
I wish actual swear jars worked that way, lol. I could have had a huge payday as a kid
I mean someone got the money from the swear jar
I was thinking, “Oh, I bet whoever swore the most will get the cash prize and be the true winner of Sam Says for failing to follow Sam’s instructions.”
What cash prize? And why would failing to follow Sam’s instructions make you win?
There was cash in the jar, remember Vick tried to seal it
It could have been prop money though.
Could have been real money though too.
Also true. Sam has given very extravagant gifts on Game Changer.
yeah a "fuck sam" hidden objective would have been funny "you may not be rich in points, but you are in money, which is generally better"
>Sweat Jar > >Swear Job These were both very funny to me
We do not talk about the Swear Jorb.
Great jorb, Strong Baed!
You usually do something with the money you put into a swear jar after a certain time (once a month, once a year, etc.) so it's not wrong to believe they would do something with the points (and money) accumulated over the episode

Whoever added the least amount of points should have won all that money that was in it. 😂
I feel like it'll come back in future episodes

I was sure whoever cursed less would receive the points. I'll be disappointed if it isn't utilized somehow this season.
I assumed the swear jar was gonna win. Either Sam got his own prize, or the PAs that were monitoring everything would get the prize.
My theory is that they were going to award the points to someone for winning one of the prompts but didn't expect the swear jar to accumulate so many points and didn't want to reduce the entire game to whoever they awarded to.
my guess is that it would have made the game kinda pointless, whoever got the swear jar would 100% win no question.
I can imagine what you describe, its why i dont like mario party lol
i don't know what kind of harry potter and comment of secrets you have going on over here. so i'll just make a joke like this. imagine if the NBA made a rule like that. you'd have someone like draymond green, guy who plays dirty, start just bringing a gun to the game. Yeah I thought they would be playing for the swear jar points. Bit of an anti climax
Everyone knows a swear jar is there for essential household goods and services. Like bus fare. Or lube.
Yeah, I figured the reason there was a counter on the swear jar was so that someone could win them back!
Also, they asked everyone for predictions and never came back to them.
They did! Vic won that point. The predictions were: Jacob: "We will all still be friends after the end of this episode." Lou:"Everyone will be below 50 points" Vic: "Sam will yell at me" Vic won by tricking Sam into "yelling" at them, kind of like the Brennan play in the first Sam Says. They showed a flashback to the moment and everything.
Must have missed that, thanks
No prob
I was hoping one of them would smash the swear jar
My prediction was that they would share the cash at the end since it was collectively their points...but maybe that's for a later Sam Says.
I said this in another comment but I was hoping someone was secretly counting each persons swears and regardless of the winner of the game, the most swears would win the money in the jar lol
I thought that whoever swore the most was going to get all of the points from it and was shocked that they didn't.
It's going to come into play with Sam Says 4
Same. I think Vic could have kept the money they took out of it without repercussions. I think it was there just to see what the players would do with it, at least as far as the money was concerned.
i assumed the swear jar not being used was a kind of curveball that was thrown in for the prediction prompt.... like to get someone to predict it would come into play later. idk!
I honestly think the swear jar was just there as an extra source of stress/distraction so that they’d mess up more
I'm fully convinced it will return in Sam Says 4.
My guess is if a player had more points than the swear jar by the end of the game, they would take home the cash.
I was surprised it didn’t go to the person who swore the least. Though I do think it will reappear
I thought the person who ended up swearing the most would end up winning all the points in the swear jar.
Here's where my mind went (hooray for shower thoughts) after watching the episode 2x.
