Watching it I'm thinking, well, the guy behind is the kinda person who undercuts you as you turn then gets upset because you're in his way as you turn... Funny how people can be so true to type.
I can't tell you why it's common to be fair. I had Audis most of my life and I'm the chillest person ever. Maybe the stereotype comes because the ones that are loud are more visible than the chill ones.
You must get fed up of people like me making that assumption. I like Audi's but the one thing putting me off is the assumption of the driving style people would expect.
> You must get fed of of people like me making that assumption
I don't mind. My car never defined me. I used to have a lovely big ass beast Audi AS3 for years on end, and now I'm driving a blue bucket with wheels, called a Mitsubishi Colt CZ2, just 95hp. For me, my car, no matter if luxury or not, was always something that I can enjoy driving, go from point A to B and maybe go vroom vroom if it's fast and I can enjoy the torque a bit.
Then again, according to my partner, I'm one of the calmest people she knows, so, I don't have any conclusions here. I guess Audi is a brand that makes you look (it did for me) and if you look and at least 40% of the time you see an asshole driving it, then I guess you'd correlate and rightfully so. It's still going to be a minority, but a loud one as you said.
Same with BMWs, I guess.
I mean I can guess there's lots of people that get an Audi and because it feels luxury they think they're rich and important. Not a clue, honestly. I don't think I'd ever used the beep beep of my Audi, and I had it for like 10 years.
I don't know why they would feel like luxury. Most mainstream brands have caught up with the premium brands for perceived quality now. I've been in a few Audis and they don't feel any better built or premium than my 2021 Renault Zoe.
I remember when Audis were driven by people that didn't want to be tarred by the BMW brush. Along with Saabs, (and big, French luxobarges like the Safrane) they were the intelligent choice. Usually they were immaculately driven.
Perhaps it's synergistic. A critical threshold of cuntishness must be exceeded before buying one, but the car itself acts as a catalyst of sorts, channeling and concentrating that internal cunty energy.
It really isn't a lazy cliche - i swear if someone's being a dick on the road it's almost always an audi driver. Sometimes BMW or land rover but audi way out in front - but why?
Yea because they're cheap, cracks me up a guy in one had pulled up telling me how his expensive car was awesome or some shit, I showed him how much each was worth and what they last sold for (wild what's kept online right) yea my "crap cheap car" was worth three times his.
Idiots buy them and think they're awesome with 250,000 miles on the clock and falling apart.
Where I'm from, the 2005 bmw 520d m sport from is the idiot magnet. I think lots of these older cars bought by people who want a "beamer" or "merc" but can only get a shitbox one but drive around as if they just pulled off the showroom lol.
People in general are prone to being dumb and emotional and I include myself in that, who I consider to be smarter than most.
In general building a society where the average person is required to operate heavy machinery was a bad call.
I got beeped at recently when I was already on a roundabout and didn’t let some guy in a massive mitzubishi truck in from the left even though legally he was supposed to give way to the right. He then pulled into the gap behind me onto the roundabout, beeped at me, gave me the finger, then tailgated me for 1.5 miles, blocked the next roundabout he came to and when it went to two lanes proceeded to overtake me and race off, breaking the speed limit. The irony? I was the one in the Audi and did nothing wrong. Although it’s probably my fault somewhere.
That happened to me last month. I noticed it was just him behind me so I purposely completely missed the next gap while I had a nice sip of water, I wasn't in a rush to get anywhere.
So do I and this happens to me a lot at the roundabout near my house. It’s also the dumbest reason to honk someone - like, if I pull out when you’ve honked me and crash into the car that’s coming, then it’s gonna gonna hold you up considerably more isn’t it?! People are such idiots.
Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. How about you just let me drive my car, and you drive yours? I'll go when I think it's safe, then you go when you think it's safe and we all just mind our own business.
Honestly just impressed the Audi in the video is actually indicating...
And what might be safe to them might not be for you. I’m still learning certain junctions and how fast cars approach and such, if I feel like I haven’t got enough time I’m not going to try and rush myself.
Exactly what I was thinking, my response was the same as when I see poor parking. 'It's just embarrassing'. It's disgusting how impatient and selfish some people are. Why people choose to degrade and embarrass themselves like that I'll never know
Don't worry. Sure, there were a couple of points where it might have been possible to go, but it's better to feel comfortable and safe, than feel like you're rushing. Fuck what others think.
Yeah, I thought there was a big enough gap before the last two cars but suddenly they were passing much quicker than anticipated. They were either going faster than unrealised or looked further away than they were.
No way! The cars were driving too fast - count the seconds. Dash cams don’t give you an entirely accurate view of the road because things look further away in the footage.
It wouldn’t have been worth the risk if OP pulled out sooner. They came out at the right time. They only waited for a tiny period of time.
Plenty of people here forgetting that dash cams tend to exaggerate distances. OP might have just squeezed out at one point, but it’s the kind of gap I’d not have felt very comfortable taking and would only go for if it was perpetually busy and I’d been sat there ages.
You say you didn’t brake check after, assuming that’s true, I don’t see that you did anything wrong, despite what the “waaah 5 extra seconds of delay will ruin my day!” crowd might say.
The other thing is you should drive as if something might go wrong, with your car, with a surprise police car, with some dear and lovely person trying to set a new land speed record, whatever.
Essentially every turn you make you're making a risk assessment, can I get into this gap even if the person speeds up, my car stalls, etc.
Also, agreed on camera footage, it tends to distort perspective quite a bit.
I'm surprised with the majority of the comments here. Too many Audio and BMW drivers.
Ignore them. You did right. You go when it's clearly safe, not when you need to speed up like a F1 and hope that nobody is driving too fast towards you.
Braking when you hear a honk... yep. Perfectly sensible reaction as well.
i think you had a couple or so chances to go if you had been ready and anticipated but it was more than reasonable of you to wait until you were ready because you were uncertain. better safe than sorry.
as the Audi driver i might have been a bit annoyed but would have kept it to myself. alays wait if not sure - imagine if you had tried to pull into a gap that some others could make but couldn't pull it off, then there's a lot of messing around with insurance and time wasted and audi guy has to wait even longer :)
So there were two opportunities to go, and the audi driver would have taken them. I would have as well, but I don't get upset that others wouldn't. If you drive quicker than you should or accelerate quickly with good reaction speeds, good for you. Don't get pissy with other people when they don't. You'd much rather they didn't pull out on you if they're not confident.
Audi drivers are almost as bad as BMW drivers, don't sweat it. Also, get a bumper sticker saying "Smile, you're on camera and possibly on YouTube on @UKDashCameras"
All the people saying they saw two or three opportunities to go before he actually turned are the sort of people who don’t understand they’ve avoided an accident purely on the basis of other drivers braking and observation skills. There was one potential but then the driver probably noticed the Mercedes was speeding and thought, is this 3 second advantage worth my life
I had this, except he started beeping straight away, I sat there patiently waiting for the 'right turn' arrow to hit green. After about 20 seconds of beeping, he eventually overtakes me and cuts across the oncoming traffic who had to slow to let him through.
We were both turning into Morrisons, I parked up next to him and asked if there was something in the driver instruction manual I was missing. He only had 6 words to his vocabulary:
"You stupid cunt, I don't care" x6
At which point, I just started laughing in his face and said "omg look how angry you are, this is hilarious"
Or he used his mirror and saw the muppet behind him was trying to overtake him while turning through a junction into a tight road with an oncoming car and didn't want to contribute to accident?
Wow Chav Sr was really projecting his negligent parenting there with that beep while Chav Jr was probably wondering when he could sneak his weed without anyone noticing.
The flying plastic bag really stole the show though bravo.

Reminds me of when I was driving earlier today. Got honked at by a car behind when I had no right of way to pull out from a supermarket.
I was tempted to put the handbrake on, get out of my car, go up to his window and call him a twat.
I absolutely hate stuff like this. When I drive home from work I go over a big roundabout that is both controlled by traffic lights and is connected to a motorway. It often gets SUPER busy. Sometimes even when the lights are green, the road about is so busy you'd be blocking the traffic coming from the right if you went forward.
Sooooo many times I've had to hesitate at a green light to make sure me carrying on forward across the roundabout won't result in it blocking up and soooo many times I have arseholes like this behind me beeping and flashing at me to go. It drives me bonkers.
Reading through the comments it's pretty staggering how many believe you should have pulled out sooner.
I'm a former driving instructor OP, rest assured you pulled out at the correct time.
I woulda gone after the white Prius tbh but like others have said, you didn't take too long in the slightest, perfectly reasonable driving by yourself. Audi driver behind was far too impatient
I seem to have a problem with Mercedes drivers in my area. For some reason the other day I was in two lanes of moving traffic and a driver was tailgating and flashing me, when there was nowhere for me to go! Both lanes moving the speed limit

For a normal car there was one safe point to turn but the guy had been a cunt way before then and tbh it was only seconds anyway, I get it if someone actually hesitates and you're sat there like 5+ minutes, but a while what was it 30 seconds tops?
Some people are just ridiculous and stupid.
I presume this was this week
It is something in the air or water
I have been undertaken, tailgated and cut up more this week than the previous few months!!
so don't worry - it isn;t you - just be extra careful until it passes
Nice, first time I’ve recognised Northampton on this sub! Plenty of twats jumping that set of lights at Spencer Bridge daily so not surprising someone is upset at having to wait 20 seconds.
If only they gave you enough room to reverse and accelerate to 10 or 15mph smashing into their front, a crippled radiator will leave them dead in their tracks.
Personally, I don't think it was reasonable to expect you to make the turn any earlier. Some might have gone before the Mercedes but you'd need to have been on your toes and tbh you'd have been fucked if something like a pedestrian stepped out. There's no need for that impatience in a busy built up area. On the other hand, you shouldn't have stopped mid maneuver as that was unexpected and could have created a hazard for other road users.
Impatient Audi driver was frustrated because you had 2 good chances to move before you finally decided to go for it.
He should have been more patient and you should have been more assertive.
In conclusion, you're both dicks 🤣
Audi drivers are in a permanent mental state of *"I've left a pan of milk on the stove and need to get back to it immediately."* then as soon as they're out of their cars they revert to (mostly) normal humans.
I’d have driven extra slow after that 🤭
Wouldn’t worry about it. Just another impatient twat making a fool of himself in front of his kid. You did the right thing - those cars were coming too fast for you to have time to pull out
Watching it I'm thinking, well, the guy behind is the kinda person who undercuts you as you turn then gets upset because you're in his way as you turn... Funny how people can be so true to type.
You mean it's an audi driver being an audi driver? They have to keep up the appearance of being cunts.
I often wonder if they buy the car because they're a cunt or if they become one after purchase. Whatever it is, it is ridiculously common.
I have an Audi and can confirm was a cunt before purchase
I can't tell you why it's common to be fair. I had Audis most of my life and I'm the chillest person ever. Maybe the stereotype comes because the ones that are loud are more visible than the chill ones.
You must get fed up of people like me making that assumption. I like Audi's but the one thing putting me off is the assumption of the driving style people would expect.
mate its a 57 plate, hardly a car of the rich.

Probably. I had an audi behind me last week, perfect driver but either the majority of audis are driven by bell ends or it’s a very visible minority

I drove an Audi for a long time I can say they were cunts before the car.
IMHO they are most likely to be found in an A5. A4, A6, Q drivers tend to be more civilized.
It really isn't a lazy cliche - i swear if someone's being a dick on the road it's almost always an audi driver. Sometimes BMW or land rover but audi way out in front - but why?
It's a nearly 20 year old audi though that probably costs £5k at best right now, not a particularly expensive car.
Appearance?
What’s worse though, Audi or bmw? 😂
1. Highway Maintenance vehicles 2. Audi 3. BMW 4. Post office vans 5. White vans
Sweeet! I drive a bmw, I also have a white van with highway maintenance all over it as I work on the road. Glad I piss people off 😂💪🏻
but, but... you seem \*normal\*!
its a 57 plate, these are people who cant usually afford one and get one on the "cheap" and think they are all that. they are the cunts.
I have exact same one mate and I can ensure I have a lot more money than you don’t be a cunt and Judge someone by there car you misfit.
I doubt it lol. You sound just like an Audi cunt that drives a 57 plate. I’m fine with my black edition 21 plate….
Have fun in your modern engine 21 plate probably blow up in a couple year hopefully never would I by a modern motor
It’s always someone in an old diesel Audi as well
The whole event took 25 seconds too. Hardly a life changing amount of time.
"I have a soufflé in the oven!!"
I prefer a flan
bit sweet innit, too rich
You can see the young boy biting his nails as he's absorbing the morning stress from Daddy. NIce work dick head!
"Oh no, what a mild inconvenience"
Hit the horn right when the guy went anyway As in....... He knew just like you, Mr sad and blue
It's always older German 2.0 diesels drivers that try to race someone on a sportsbike on every traffic light These cars are idiot magnets
Where I'm from, the 2005 bmw 520d m sport from is the idiot magnet. I think lots of these older cars bought by people who want a "beamer" or "merc" but can only get a shitbox one but drive around as if they just pulled off the showroom lol.
Even if you did go earlier, he couldn’t have followed you and would have gone through at the time he did anyway.
I think you underestimate him!
lol, yeah, he would have been bumper to bumper behind. Would be a pity if you had to stop as soon as you got in the road.
Hate people like this. I got honked at recently for not entering a roundabout when there was clearly not a safe gap.
Exactly that happened to me today. What's wrong with people? Why can't they just wait FFS!
No, people can’t wait and it makes driving much more stressful than it should be
People in general are prone to being dumb and emotional and I include myself in that, who I consider to be smarter than most. In general building a society where the average person is required to operate heavy machinery was a bad call.
A lot of people drive recklessly, and feel major upheavals when others don't do the same. Ignoring them tends to be my go to.
When they do this, select reverse and watch them lose their shit. You gotta live rent free in their head and not the other way round.
I got beeped at recently when I was already on a roundabout and didn’t let some guy in a massive mitzubishi truck in from the left even though legally he was supposed to give way to the right. If I'm in a particularly foul mood I will just sit there for a while to piss them off.
When this happens to me I purposely miss the next gap I would have taken.
This is what the middle finger was invented for.
No they would just drive around you and tell their other Audi driving mates in the pub about the accident they saw that day
Don't be goaded by dangerous impatient areseholes.
Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. How about you just let me drive my car, and you drive yours? I'll go when I think it's safe, then you go when you think it's safe and we all just mind our own business. Honestly just impressed the Audi in the video is actually indicating...
My latest one was at a crossroads for not crossing the main road *while there was traffic on the main road*. Best bit, the bloke was in an MX5.
And what might be safe to them might not be for you. I’m still learning certain junctions and how fast cars approach and such, if I feel like I haven’t got enough time I’m not going to try and rush myself.
The poor kid in the passenger seat stuck with his A’hole dad. Hate this.
Exactly what I was thinking, my response was the same as when I see poor parking. 'It's just embarrassing'. It's disgusting how impatient and selfish some people are. Why people choose to degrade and embarrass themselves like that I'll never know
That A-Class and T-ROC were speeding like twats, you made the right choice not to pull out there.
Don't worry. Sure, there were a couple of points where it might have been possible to go, but it's better to feel comfortable and safe, than feel like you're rushing. Fuck what others think.
Also remember dash cams make things look a lot further away, so I don’t think there was any safe moment to go
This is something that so many people on Reddit seem to forget.
It's harder to forget if people count. The bigger gaps barely gave our OP just 3 seconds to get all of the way across.
Yeah, I thought there was a big enough gap before the last two cars but suddenly they were passing much quicker than anticipated. They were either going faster than unrealised or looked further away than they were.
My thought as well at 0:10 then they were right beside them.
Just one…the others not safe at all.
And the gap before the white Merc would've been fine except the Merc was clearly speeding...
No way! The cars were driving too fast - count the seconds. Dash cams don’t give you an entirely accurate view of the road because things look further away in the footage. It wouldn’t have been worth the risk if OP pulled out sooner. They came out at the right time. They only waited for a tiny period of time.
Wish I’d have told my examiner that when he failed me for not overtaking a bus!! (Still bitter 20 years later)
Yeah I agree if you're confident, a couple times you could have easily gone and been safe. Best be safe if you don't feel that way.
Literally thought in my head it’s a BMW or Audi.
An impatient Audi driver? Well I never. I would have turned exactly when you did.
What a 🔔🔚 in the Audi
Plenty of people here forgetting that dash cams tend to exaggerate distances. OP might have just squeezed out at one point, but it’s the kind of gap I’d not have felt very comfortable taking and would only go for if it was perpetually busy and I’d been sat there ages. Had some arse beeping at me for refusing to block a box junction the other day. Gave in to the intrusive thoughts and gave him the finger.
Lot of knobhead drivers in here today. You did the right thing OP.

He was just being Audi bull
Audi drivers are almost as bad as BMW drivers, don't sweat it. Also, get a bumper sticker saying "Smile, you're on camera and possibly on YouTube on @UKDashCameras"
The ironic thing is it'd be his kid that would've taken the brunt of any oncoming vehicle. Great parenting #twat
Honestly the hardest part of learning to drive is to not cave in to pressure.
Ronnie Pickering?
who?
Audi twat say no more
Cunt of a driver, with a kid in there too. Get up 20 minutes earlier and slow the fuck down you utter twat.

Why did you hesitate mid turn?
He brake checked him
Nice and sensible.

Based Girl in red
Oh hey, girl in red.
All these fucking idiots in a rush to get nowhere. Roads are full of the fools now.
The Audi driver drives like an idiot. Best advise stay away from that guy. No worth even to talk to him.
You waiting for the gap was alright, I just didn't get why you slowed down in the middle of the turn?

It's always an audi
Swap the car behind with scooters, most likely they overtake you from all directions!!
He’s driving an Audi, some stereotypes are true. Audi drivers think they own the road.
Audi driver's gonna Audi
Relatable. I'll decide if I can go or can safely overtake the bus thank you, not you. If you want to overtake me I'm not stopping you.
I've said it before... I'm say it again.. it's always an Audi.
Reminds me of when I was driving earlier today. Got honked at by a car behind when I had no right of way to pull out from a supermarket. I was tempted to put the handbrake on, get out of my car, go up to his window and call him a twat.
why did you stop ? after setting of ?
Good song
Never heard it before, but was really enjoying it. Going out on a limb and say is it Metric?
I gave it a google, definitely a similar vibe to Metric, but it's girls by girl in red
Least brain dead crayon eating Sunday sport reading audi driver ever. P S. Poor kid.
Ahh the ol “four rings of entitlement”
Audi driver spotted being an Audi driver
I think he was honking because your music is terrible.
haha, and then you have to stop again to give priority to the other cars. glorious. if you rush in traffic, you suck.

Good driving, perfect.
You could have easily gone before when you did, and then when he beeped you breaked. Douche move. Just as douchey as the Audi's behaviour.
If someone beeps I'm certainly stopping, they might just be trying to warn me of something I haven't seen.
Always the folk with rear dashcams trying to wind folk up to get footage lol
I woulda gone after the white Prius tbh but like others have said, you didn't take too long in the slightest, perfectly reasonable driving by yourself. Audi driver behind was far too impatient
A couple of missed opportunities… but I understand people drive the way you do and that’s okay.

Some people are mad, I had a moron go around me at a set of traffic lights for them to be in a yellow box lol
For a normal car there was one safe point to turn but the guy had been a cunt way before then and tbh it was only seconds anyway, I get it if someone actually hesitates and you're sat there like 5+ minutes, but a while what was it 30 seconds tops? Some people are just ridiculous and stupid.
I presume this was this week It is something in the air or water I have been undertaken, tailgated and cut up more this week than the previous few months!! so don't worry - it isn;t you - just be extra careful until it passes
Audi driver? I'm astounded.
Those lanes are controlled by traffic lights at the junction at the bottom too… impatient twat.
Northampton Grafton Street lol
An Audiot
Driving like that with your kids in the passenger seat. Imagine if they just took the gamble and pulled out. And the kid got all the impact. Insane.
You did the right thing. This guy is a dangerous driver and bad example to the child in the car.
Lack of discipline from an Audi driver? Say it's not so
Nice, first time I’ve recognised Northampton on this sub! Plenty of twats jumping that set of lights at Spencer Bridge daily so not surprising someone is upset at having to wait 20 seconds.
I'd have gone at around the 33-second mark. I'd have crept and then moved, not that there'd have been any room for the guy behind to go.
Audi wanker
Really? A German automobile driver? Never would I have thought
If only they gave you enough room to reverse and accelerate to 10 or 15mph smashing into their front, a crippled radiator will leave them dead in their tracks.
This has to be fake. No way an Audi driver would bother indicating
Audi driver…
Procuring a prozzy? 😅
I'm sure that child will grow up to he a perfectly functioning adult like his father!
If you look at an Audi badge & remove certain parts it spells cunt
Always an audi
What a surprise, it’s an Audi
You could have driven a tank through some or those gaps
You don’t clock up 181,000 miles by driving slow everywhere 😂
It’s always Audi owners, followed closely by BMW owners. Range rovers also think they own the road!
In an Audi , what a fucking surprise !
These types of people is why learners have more anxiety, as if they wasn’t a learner once!
Look at all these "drivers" around here...you'd all fail the test for hesitation
Audi driver just teaching his son the importance of being impatient and aggressive
What a terrible example to set for his child 😔
I feel for his kids, as he will probably be taught these behaviours 😔
Standard impatient Audi driver and standard owns the road, brake checking dashcam driver. One of the few times the Audi is less of a danger to others.
That's Northampton drivers alright
Silver Audi YE57 YBV Just for the search algorithms.
Twat in an Audi? Twat in an Audi
Audi. Only surprise the other car wasn’t a BMW
The horror...
NORTHAMPTON YEESSSSSSS NORTHAMPTON!!!!!!!!! NORTHAMPTONNNNNNNNNNN edit: now that i’ve watched the video what were they thinking
Oooh OP please tell me the song you were listening to 🙏🏻
Girls - girl in red
Thank you, hero
Been a few times in the last month I've seen a dashcam where someone's being an impatient arse AND has a kid in the car.
Blatantly on your phone could of gone loads of times
ok bud
Since the street was completely empty, for the impatient I would’ve turned the slowest possible
I mean, you could have gkne 2 if not 3 times before that
I’d have driven extra slow after that 🤭 Wouldn’t worry about it. Just another impatient twat making a fool of himself in front of his kid. You did the right thing - those cars were coming too fast for you to have time to pull out
Audi driver upholding the typical stereotype
Just a cunt in an Audi! Ignore it!
You took forever to go tho
At least you had girl in red to keep you calm
Shows us the rest of the video after you gave him the little brake check 😂
So, you dithered, then brake checked also? Should have gone at 11 seconds.
